Supposed to be going on holiday to Goa this weekend.

The implication is that India was officially involved, which does not appear to be the case. The world is full of lunatic religious extremists, though the subcontinent seems to have a lot more than its fair share - no thanks to the ruler of India.

Eh? Did you mean to say Pakistan? There is reams and reams of evidence about Pakistan's involvement in terrorism.
From the US state department, UK intelligence and former PMs of Pakistan including Nawaz Sharif, no less. Especially in the 2008 Taj bombing.

Ruler of India? Like Keir Starmer is the ruler of the UK? Do you mean the democratically elected prime minister of India?

Extremely ' ooh look at brown people killing themselves over silly religion" vibes here, as a pp said.

Goa is 3000km from the fighting, you’ll be fine.

Jeepers. Some people really will do anything to blame anyone but the perpetrator.

CandidLurker · 07/05/2025 07:38

yes Partition was rushed but what options did Britain have? An exhausted, bankrupt nation after WW2. Indian leaders were fully involved. Al Jinnah demanded the creation of Pakistan and one can understand why.

Being bankrupt doesn’t excuse butchering a subcontinent. Britain had time to loot India for 200 years but suddenly couldn’t manage a responsible exit?

Indian leaders were involved, but it was Britain that imposed a rushed five-week timeline and had someone who’d never been to India, Cyril Radcliffe, draw the borders. The result? Villages split overnight, 15 million displaced and 2 million dead

But according to you, all of the above was was inevitable because apparently, there wasn’t a single better alternative and that chaotic mess was somehow the best Britain could manage? Riiiight

Flights will still be going?

Sroia · 07/05/2025 08:11

Pakistan is ALWAYS the initiator.

The Pakistani govt supports proxy groups and militant groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. These groups have carried out attacks in India such as the 2001 Indian Parliament attack and the 2019 Pulwama attack.

The Kargil War involved Pakistani soldiers infiltrating Indian territory under the guise of militants.

Pakistan cannot just leave India alone.

@JaneFondue
Now I've seen the hypocrisy and double standards in the way Israel Palestine is reported I'm going to reserve judgement on who was behind the tourist attacks
I feel like Modi is copying Netanyahu and wants to unleash a genocide on Muslims
Also where is the evidence that Pakistan was behind those attacks
Not saying Pakistan has never done terrorism- mostly against its own people- but why is there no proof this time
The US is playing both countries off each other
This would never happen if Imran Khan was at the helm

StupidBoy · 07/05/2025 08:19

JaneFondue · 07/05/2025 07:38

Good god. Pahalgam aboit 10 days ago Widely reported by just about everyone including Indian press- left and right wing- and the BBC. Evidence: the widows of the men executed.

The people who always question whether something happened at all, even when given evidence/proof are often the very same people who take Hamas's word as gospel truth on the 'civilian' death count in Gaza, then round it up by a few thousand for good measure.

OldScribbler · 07/05/2025 08:21

JaneFondue · 06/05/2025 21:58

Perhaps they are a bit peeved that innocent tourists were asked to recite the Quran and then shot when they couldnt.

There is no proof that this was organised by any legitimate body. We get lunatics causing death in Britain, but since the IRA stopped this is what they are - lunatics, not representing any official body or government. My only view on this is that religion is a curse.

JaneFondue · 07/05/2025 08:21

Imran Khan was one of the Pakistan PMs who admitted Pakistan was harbouring terrorists! 🙄
If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is a duck!
Mostly against own people? Like sheltering Osama Bin Laden, Daniel Pearl's killers, Lashkar-e-Toiba, ISIS and dozens of terrorist groups. I don't think so.

Feelingmuchbetter · 07/05/2025 08:25

Well just when you think things couldn’t get any worse…

You do realise the terrorist attacks are going one way from Pakistan to India? So yes it’s completely believable that at a minimum they are supported by the Pakistani government even if they weren’t directed by them. There haven’t been rogue Indians in Pakistan murdering Pakistanis.

Leave India alone and it will leave Pakistan alone. It’s that simple. If you keep funding terror attacks on your neighbours eventually they will get very pissed off.

Like I said, it’s like punching someone in the face and then rolling around screaming on the floor claiming you were attacked when you get punched back. It’s hard to make the claim that India is pursuing a genocide against Pakistan when Pakistan keeps attacking India!

Also this has nothing to do with the US.

I’m waiting for someone to blame the Jews. 🙄

ProfessorLayton1 · 07/05/2025 08:29

I do feel for the ordinary Pakistanis and the only reason I know and am friends with a lot of them is because I live in UK. Most of them would like to get their children educated, wish for safe and peaceful life like the rest of us and they deserve a better government.
Pakistani governments have failed them miserably for decades.

Absolutely. Most people of most nations want a peaceful, quiet life.

justasking111 · 07/05/2025 08:41

We have a Pakistani neighbour who's views are extreme by our standards. He tells my husband that I need keeping in my place. That Muslims will rule the UK within a few years. Husband just laughs. His wife is lovely as are the children.

My worry is that some will be spoiling for a fight and cause civil unrest where there are communities in the UK and throughout Europe.

And such interesting timing on India’s part - within hours of the UK-India free trade agreement being announced… Seems they were keen to get that over the line first. Starmer and Co have been played for mugs.

My first thought when I saw the news this morning.

Do you think that the trade deal would not have happened today, say?

Don’t understand this, are you saying the Uk would have junked the trade deal because India gave Pakistan a slap on the wrist for terror activities?

All of this.

But - the lefties will pick their side according to which is the smallest and most diametrically opposed to Western values, as they always do. So they can look very enlightened and ‘progressive’ in supporting them.

Coffeetwosugars · 07/05/2025 08:50

WestwardHo1 · 06/05/2025 23:22

Pakistan is not a "small country". There are 247 million of them.

They also have nuclear weapons.

I'm so fucking sick to death of war mongering men.

In comparison to India it is smaller, and due to the demonisation of Islam and Pakistan from reading some of the posts on here, I feel that there will potentially be more support for India.

Regardless I agree, completely fed up with War mongering men who need their egos stroked at the expense of millions of innocent people around the world.

With regards to Pakistan, from what I gather the current govt doesn't even have the backing of the majority of the people..

We will have to wait and see but for info most Indian airspace and airports (including Goa) operated normally last night and look to be operating normally today.

I’m not demonising anyone. It is a fact that terror operations have been launched from pakistan directed at India with the knowledge and support of Pakistani military and intelligence. It is a known fact that Pakistan has harboured terrorists. This is not the fault of ordinary Pakistanis but it is still a fact.

I am bewildered that anyone can out this down to bigotry rather than a pattern of behaviour on the part of an aggressive neighbour.

I've got a neighbour exactly the same.

He shipped off his sons to Pakistan a few years ago, do they could get a "become Islamic scholars". I imagine he'll bring those radicalised kids back here now.

He also moved with them, leaving his wife and daughter here, but was listed as living here on Companies house.

He makes everyone's life hell, by being the only with a drive, but parking his untaxed, un MOT,'d taxis on the few parking spaces for everyone else.

We have a lot of Muslim neighbours who are diamonds, even they've had run ins with him, but he refuses to even look at us women who've challenged him, he literally refuses to speak to us.

I was merely replying previous op. It's a country that has resources and harbours and grows terrorists
And I totally agree that war is terrible and unjust
