How much sleep do you get?

Hello, just a curious question really, how much sleep do you get and how much sleep do you have where you wake up feeling refreshed and good to go for the day? I sleep for 7 hours at most, usually 6 ish but I am always tired, feeling out of sorts and just not feeling my best. I was taking to mum’s at the school gate earlier who also say they are tired but they go to bed at around 9 ish mostly and wake up at 6, that’s 9 hours, is that the norm? Do you notice if you have less sleep continuously? I use to get by on less sleep but it is different having a child! 😅

Bed for 9:30, asleep for 10… wake up at 6-7 so between 8-9 hours

SmallSnooze · 06/05/2025 19:15

I sleep for 8-9 hours. I can't cope on less or more!

ObliviousCoalmine · 06/05/2025 19:16

Between 4 & 7 hours, always with 1 or 2 wake ups. The closer to 4 it gets, the more unhinged I become…I think I’m getting old?

Need 9 hrs.

SushiForBreakfast · 06/05/2025 19:26

8 hours. Struggle to do more, and feel tired on less

SherlockHolmes · 06/05/2025 19:26

I get around 8 hours, although I do wake up several times a night. I am v old though.

MonkeyTennis34 · 06/05/2025 19:31

Sleep is my super power!
Im usually in bed by 10, up at 7, rarely wake in the night.
I can sleep anywhere too.

InfoSecInTheCity · 06/05/2025 19:41

Going through a bit of a crap sleep period at the moment, for the last week I’m averaging 5hrs 34mins with 2-3 wakeups a night according to my watch. Generally I get 6-7hrs so not loads but a bit better.

MereNoelle · 06/05/2025 19:44

2-5 hours. Disabled, nocturnal child. I feel constantly ill. I ‘need’ 8 hours to function, but haven’t had that for over 6 years.

nowseehere · 06/05/2025 19:47

3-5 broken hours. I also need 7-8. But there we go. I have to work, I have kids, and the universe doesn’t like to let me sleep.

NinaNina83 · 06/05/2025 19:51

Not enough. Usually about 6hrs of broken sleep as my 2 year old wakes up 2-3 times a night (on a good night 😭)

Tisfortired · 06/05/2025 19:52

Anywhere between 5 and 7 hours, depending on what time the toddler wakes up. I go to bed at 10/11 and he wakes up anytime between 5 and 6:30.

I am also pregnant at the moment so waking up 2/3 times a night for a wee/rennies so the sleep i do get is not great. Im also NOT looking forward to adding a newborn into my current shit sleep schedule.

I know I need to go to bed earlier but it’s the only time of the day DH and I see each other.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 06/05/2025 19:54

8-9

WorthyOtter · 06/05/2025 19:56

About 3 hours if I'm lucky, battling with my 8mo's sleep regression at the minute, but when I have had a full night's sleep I seem to be more tired?

faerietales · 06/05/2025 19:56

About seven hours.

Ihaveoflate · 06/05/2025 19:56

I'm pretty much always tired. Ideally I'd have 9 hrs a night if unbroken sleep to function well, but I haven't had that since my child was born nearly six years ago.

I go to sleep at 10:30ish and awake at 6:30 but it's not unbroken. DD still wakes in the night and calls for us. If it's my turn to get into her bed, I don't sleep well for the rest of the night.

BeyondMyWits · 06/05/2025 19:57

10 til 4, 4.30 til 6.30, so 8 hours with a little gap. Every night. Week or weekend.

GameOfJones · 06/05/2025 19:59

As long as I have 7 hours I'm fine. I probably average 8 hours a night but up once for a wee normally.

I always go up to bed between 10pm and 10.30pm and then will read for a bit. If I get really into my book midnight is my cut off where I make myself put it down but I'm normally going to sleep around 11pm. Up at 7am.

Jojo19834 · 06/05/2025 20:00

8-9 hours, I need sleep. I really feel for the posters who are the same but getting way less. I feel dead if I get 5-6 hours once, how I would survive on consecutive days I have no idea! When my daughter was a newborn I would force myself to be asleep by 9 so I could do the night wakes and haven’t gotten out of the habit! I was awake by 4 this morning but I had done 6.5 hours and for some reason slept loads Saturday so banked sleep credits it feels and I’m ok now at 8. I do love to sleep bank for when I wake lots or early for the day, cannot feel tired as I feel like I have the worst hangover, which I now know my hangovers were so bad as they were largely lack of sleep!

Olika · 06/05/2025 20:01

My DD is only 3 so she is influencing my sleep and I am not getting enough. Anything between 6 and 8h with getting disturbed towards the early morning hours with her tossing. I only realised how tired I am as a default every day after I had amazing long undisturbed sleep Sunday night and I felt amazing on Monday. The way I felt all Monday was something I hadn’t felt for ages and had forgotten how it feels.

MissyB1 · 06/05/2025 20:04

About 5 or if I'm lucky 6 hours. I'm 57 and no reason to be awake other than menopausal symptoms really. Anxiety, too hot, weak bladder blah blah... I've learned to live with feeling permanently tired.

lucya66 · 06/05/2025 20:07

I like 8 hours. 10-6.

my 15 month old has been waking me lately though, sometimes all night. Or 4-5am.

i nap in the day sometimes though. I reccommend getting used to a sleeping mask. It’s like once I put it on, I just drift off.

Newmeagain · 06/05/2025 20:08

Not enough. I work long hours in a demanding job. I am often up late either working or tidying the kitchen, etc. Also, living in an urban area I often have neighbours, barking dogs, etc preventing me from going to bed early.

endlesscraziness · 06/05/2025 20:27

5-7 hours but I wake up 4-7 times a night so I’m permanently exhausted

lljkk · 06/05/2025 20:50

I seem to barely sleep at all but feel fine for it, much more energetic than many people. Maybe 5 hrs/night on avg.
