and who is cooking?

We are salmon, new potatoes and greens from a recipe DH saw in the Waitrose newspaper thing a while ago. He's cooking and it seems appropriate for the season, but also nice and warming as the temperature has plummeted!

Very lazy tonight as I’m working this evening and we’ve been doing stuff all day so everyone is pooped. We’ve got a Mutti pasta sauce to have with some spaghetti, DH will be ‘making’ that, and I made a peach and raspberry crumble earlier for afters!

minnienono · 04/05/2025 16:40

No idea as didn’t get to the shops in time, oops! Whatever I can rustle up from freezer, bottom of fridge and cans!

MiddleAgedDread · 04/05/2025 16:41

Away so going out for dinner. Hoping for something fishy.

We had a roast chicken meal at 1pm. I might make egg mayo for sandwiches about 6pm or just hard boil eggs and have some salad
Fruit and Greek yoghurt for afters.

TheChosenTwo · 04/05/2025 16:44

We are having chicken gyros cooked on a spit plate thing Dh has fashioned together done in the woodfired oven outside - all a bit of an experiment but I’m excited to try it.

adcde123 · 04/05/2025 16:55

Staying in our campervan on the Isle of Wight - after an afternoon at a real ale festival - we’re having piri piri chicken, red pepper & red onion on the electric grill with potato wedges in the air fryer..really need to eat 🍻🤣

Supermarket delivery is coming on Tuesday so we’re mostly down to leftovers apart from chicken breasts which I’d pre-planned for today. I’m going to roast in lemon juice and the dregs of the garlic dressing from yesterday’s salad. Then I’m going to roast some cherry tomatoes in a separate dish, and have with leftover coleslaw and bean salad, also from yesterday, liberally dressed with Hellman’s. Might do some oven chips as well if anyone wants them.

DreamedTheSweetestDreams · 04/05/2025 17:28

Lentil, sweet potato and spinach dahl with rice.

Forgot to say that my partner is making it.

TheLadyIsAVamp · 04/05/2025 17:32

Beef & mushroom stroganoff, wild rice and tsb 🥦, made by me.

Hedonism · 04/05/2025 17:34

Roast chicken. Joint effort between me and DH. He makes the best roasties, I am in charge of the gravy.

CoastalCalm · 04/05/2025 17:35

We are having a yellow sticker porchetta from M&S Easter range with new potatoes , asparagus and sprouting broccoli - as I type the smoke alarm is going off and DH is swearing 🤣

Buildingthefuture · 04/05/2025 17:38

Shit weather on a Sunday always means a full on roast dinner. I’m cooking (I always do the roasts, DH is good at loads of other things) and I love it 🥰

lissie123 · 04/05/2025 17:40

We are renting a cottage of to the local pub for tea. Can’t wait.

Xiexie · 04/05/2025 17:45

Lamb meatballs in tomato sauce as it’s something both me and my toddler enjoy!

BlueOysterCultGroupie · 04/05/2025 18:05

They all sound good!

‘Marry me chicken’, mash and green veg - as requested by DC. I just need to get my lazy arse off the sofa to cook it!

Bimblebombles · 04/05/2025 19:11

Prawns with stir fry veg and chow mein sauce. Plus warm sourdough bread and butter. Fusion!

That's a bit creepy - we have eaten EXACTLY the same food as you today!

haggisaggis · 04/05/2025 19:15

Chicken salad which sounds really basic but involves me roasting the chicken then making from scratch potato salad, coleslaw, corn salsa, couscous with roasted peppers, onions and olives, Waldorf salad, and Caprese salad. Takes ages but is worth it.

CalicoPusscat · 04/05/2025 20:05

We were slobs and had macaroni cheese with garlic bread.

Tisfortired · 04/05/2025 20:09

I roasted a chicken in garlic and herb butter, which we had with French fries (I wanted new potatoes but was outvoted) corn on the cob, salad, coleslaw and crusty bread. One of those dinners where there is something for everybody! We’ll be on leftover chicken salad sandwiches tomorrow on our walk around the local nature reserve.

samlovesdilys · 04/05/2025 20:43

Recovering from op so eldest DS has made roast chicken, pesto pasta and salad. Very grateful!!

mrsleb · 04/05/2025 20:44

Butter chicken from a jar with naan and mango chutney for us!

DancingFerret · 04/05/2025 20:47

Roast lamb, ratatouille, cauliflower cheese, peas, new potatoes and gravy.

Beautifulsunflowers · 04/05/2025 22:01

I love these threads! I always get new ideas and inspiration for the next weeks dinner plan!!
tonight we had chicken in a creamy leek sauce with mini air fryer roasties and carrots.
Tomorrow it’s burgers in brioche buns with salad. Maybe chips if they’re wanted.
i always do the cooking unless it’s steak.
