Would you rather a mini milk or a mini ice lolly - for reception children as a class treat on a sunny day

in terms of practicality (meltiness, mess etc) - everyone would like them that kind of thing.

No allergies or dietary requirements in the class. Images so there's no confusion about what I mean.

Either. They wouldn’t have cared.

Fairyvocals · 29/04/2025 15:44

Either is fine.

My 5 year old would be thrilled with either.

xaos · 29/04/2025 16:00

I'll go for ice lollies, bit more refreshing perhaps.

I would like a mini milk right now, please.

Blarn · 29/04/2025 16:03

I'd go with the fruit ones as small children usually decline the vanilla mini milks then you have an argument over the strawberry and chocolate ones.

ladymalfoy45 · 29/04/2025 16:03

Mini milk.

GameOfJones · 29/04/2025 16:03

Either. Less chance of allergies or intolerances by going with the fruity flavour ones rather than the milk perhaps?

I am 40 and I also decline the vanilla ones!!!

APurpleSquirrel · 29/04/2025 16:05

We (PTA) do ice lollies after school on sunny Fridays - always get the fruity ice poles but also a box of mini milks.
Most go for fruity, a couple have mini milks - chocolate goes first.
be warned - mini milks melt faster than ice poles.

heffalumpwoozle · 29/04/2025 16:06

Mini milks are a better choice nutritionally for young children (assuming no milk intolerances etc) because they contain protein. The fruit ones are pure sugar.

YourWinter · 29/04/2025 16:06

Neither, unless you can immediately wash every sticky hand and face, but white milk lollies or lemonade lollies stain marginally less than orange or strawberry lollies or chocolate milk lollies (says granny who has just wiped two sticky grandsons)!

There's multiple sinks in classroom for this.

They are probably all going to get very sticky and messy either way so I don't think it hugely matters! 😅 I still remember the sheer joy of seeing the ice lollies come out on a particularly hot day at school. Such a treat!

What I don't like is the vanilla mini milk slander on this thread 😠 best flavour!

This!

BarnacleBeasley · 29/04/2025 16:15

If kids are getting in a mess from eating mini milks, they clearly haven't had enough practice. You have to suck and rotate, like sharpening a pencil.

Zeitumschaltung · 29/04/2025 16:17

Some option (maybe own brand) where they are all the same flavour and type

NannyPlum7 · 29/04/2025 16:19

God I could murder a mini milk right about now 🤤

Dunkou · 29/04/2025 16:22

I just ate a chocolate mini milk. No DC I just like them as a treat. I have a ton of vanilla ones left though! I wish they made a box of just strawberry and chocolate.

QuartzIlikeit · 29/04/2025 16:23

Fruit one. My DC don't like mini milk (nor do I)

They're usually much larger lollies.

It's fine if a child is disappointed they didn't get an orange one or whatever. We can't be pandering to silliness.

I want to buy a box of mini milks now but I don't like the strawberry ones.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 29/04/2025 16:48

Fruit—although more sticky, more refreshing
