Would you rather a mini milk or a mini ice lolly - for reception children as a class treat on a sunny day

in terms of practicality (meltiness, mess etc) - everyone would like them that kind of thing.

No allergies or dietary requirements in the class. Images so there's no confusion about what I mean.

They melt FAST in an ice-box. We do Aldi's eezy freezy ice pops. They are 13 calories each and not a lot in them beside fruit juice.

Team mini milk here, but ALLERGIES

TomatoSandwiches · 29/04/2025 16:57

Vanilla mini milks are the best ones imo.

I’ve got some ice poles for my reception children.

I just ate a chocolate mini milk. No DC I just like them as a treat. I have a ton of vanilla ones left though! I wish they made a box of just strawberry and chocolate.

Need some sort of mini milk exchange, I only like the plain ones.

OMG I forgot about Mini Milks and now I want one! Forget the 5 year olds, send them to meeee!

LostMySocks · 29/04/2025 17:09

Can you get a pack of all the same flavour?

That way they won't argue and turn a treat into an upset.

APurpleSquirrel · 29/04/2025 17:27

Top tips:

Open the bag & lay flat to freeze - especially if you only have a day to freeze them.
Bag up the same flavours into separate freezer bags, then you can get the right flavour quickly & know when you’ve run out of a flavour.
Hands down the most popular flavours are Blue Raspberry & Cola Slush Puppies ice poles.
occasionally we’ll have a glut of usually orange ice poles & then we make everyone have one before we replenish the stock (baring allergies of course).
Have scissors on hand to cut the tops off; cut in a horseshoe shape to avoid cut mouths on sharp corners.
Have kitchen roll on hand if needed to wrap the lolly. & a bin.

I'd rather have a mini milk, but for young kids I'd get lollies so as not to single out anyone with dairy allergies.

GreenPinkYellowOrange · 29/04/2025 17:36

Either but now off to buy myself a box of mini milks!

BrendaSmall · 29/04/2025 17:38

So many children with allergies/intolerances, I’d say fruit would be better for all

CarpetKnees · 29/04/2025 17:54

I'd get 2 boxes of each, then everyone should be able to have one they both like and aren't allergic to.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 29/04/2025 17:57

Mini milk as will possibly stain clothing less than the bright coloured fruit juice lollies.

Moonlight222 · 29/04/2025 17:57

Is personally pick fruit only because there are children in my class that have milk allergy so they’d miss out

xaos · 30/04/2025 19:51

Fruit lollies went in today, they went down a treat. Teachers had some too : D
