I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The cats have been fed & boy cat's gone back to bed. Girl cat is in the living room window ekekek-ing at birds 🤣, her favourite pastime. Dd2's gone back to sleep after I raided her room for her uniform to wash & made her grumpy bad mum. Dd1 needs to be up to get ready for work but hasn't moved so far.

The washer's on already & I've had a tidy round. Just a few pots to wash up from last night, once I've drunk my cuppa and taken my tablets.

I'm off into town in a little while for a few things. Dd2 might come with me but I think she could do with staying here really, she's been complaining on and off that one of her legs is hurting, so I think probably best to rest it & do her homework/tidy her room for this week instead.

When I get in, I may go for a nap for an hour, then carry on painting a set of peg dolls for display at work. I was doing them over half term but wasn't well so I'm a bit behind with this half terms sets.

We're having leftover Chinese for tea, then I'll shower & probably doom scroll for an hour before bed 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam , I’m half watching the Pope’s funeral while eating a croissant with butter and marmalade, drinking coffee and I have a snoring ZDog2 squashed alongside me in my armchair. ZDog1 is sprawled out on her back on the settee, DH is engrossed in the funeral - he’s neither religious, RC or has ever been a church-goer.
It’s drizzling here so I can’t hang the washing out yet, I hope it stops soon because the dogs need a walk and we’re heading to a nearby village for that.
Apart from the usual stuff I don’t have any plans for the weekend.
I really fancy a Chinese but we’re 11 miles from the closest one and they don’t deliver….
Perhaps I’ll include some Chinese in next week’s online shop?
I hope you have a lovely weekend 🌻

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I've been to Aldi and done a wash too. One more to do later. I've had two coffees and a slice of toast then a cup of tea. Shortly I'm heading out for second breakfast with a friend. We will chat and I'll take her home later. Saturday is housework day, so that'll get done later. I have trout fillets for dinner. Enjoy your day

Good morning, I’m still hiding in bed!

need to get my bum out of bed and do a quick tidy up, before off to the garden centre and then some food shopping.
might pop up the allotment this afternoon if there’s time, need to plant my carrots, potatoes & some more strawberries. 😊
This evening watching Minecraft on my dodgy fire stick with the kids. 😁

Good morning @lucysmam !

Well - things in my life have changed in the last week. I have been trying to retire early, due to ill health, but have been waiting for 4 MONTHS for my oncologist to write a report to support that. He still hasn't done it. I had a week off work recently and ended up in the ED with AF - again, so when I went back to work on Tuesday I decided I had just come to the end of whatever tether I had left. My GP has signed me off sick for 4 months and I won't be going back to work ever again!

Because I am now quite unexpectedly now effectively a retired person, I am attempting to ensure I have some discipline and structure to my days. Hence I am up, showered and dressed already. Mr Dilemma and I are going out to try and find a new wok shortly, and when we get back I'm going to sort out my downstairs desk space, which I haven't been using, and move some stuff into our storage shed so that I have room to move the stationery, printing paper etc from my office upstairs. Over the next 6 weeks this will be transformed into a small spare bedroom for my youngest grandson when he comes to stay. I have various pieces of IKEA desk and storage furniture to dispose of.... Any mumsnetter in the Exeter area who needs anything like that can contact me!

Poor Mr Dilemma doesn't know what has hit him. I have ranted at him twice about the state of the storage shed (full of junk) and the garden (full of random pieces of plastic including about 50 plastic pots of various sizes). Over the past 2 years of my illness I have taken my eye off the ball a bit and, as I have been working and he has retired, it has been his job to be house (and garden) husband. I'm taking back the reins now and we ARE going to be more organised! Otherwise I haven't a hope in hell of keeping things even relatively clean and tidy.

Malvala · 26/04/2025 09:47

Morning everyone!

My sister stayed over last night and we had a proper girlie night. She’s up and gone home to sort her spare room out and I’m about to start a full day online workshop for uni.

DH and DD are in the living room playing Hollow Knight but DH is about to go out for the day to a convention.

RabbitsRock · 26/04/2025 09:55

Good morning @lucysmam & the Saturday gang. Here we are again! The weeks are flying by. The 3 of us are in the car on the way to Birmingham. DH & I are off to see “Torville & Dean” tonight - so excited! DD16 is staying with my DBro & family. I keep thinking I’ve forgotten something. Made a list earlier in the week. I love lists! Not sure what we’re doing foodwise. We’ll probably just grab a burger tonight. Looking forward to staying in a nice hotel & some much needed “ us time”. Have a lovely day all!

frozendaisy · 26/04/2025 10:04

Good morning all

Had two coffees up early to kick the footballers out!

Will do a quick run around for uniform and small amount of laundry

Make brunch something on their return

Revision
Woods walk

no idea about dinner yet

but it will get sort it always does

lucysmam · 26/04/2025 10:07

@DilemmaDelilah enjoy your retirement (once you're organised!). I find it quite hard/tiring to work & keep on top of everything - I'd quite like to slow down, I think.

Dd1 is finally in the shower. I'll go and get dressed and washed once the bathroom is free, then head into town.

Morning all, tired here.

Today will just be food shopping, tidying and reading through a project. It's an awful one, monitoring drug usage debris. I'm supposed to be signed off due to illness so I have to make up my mind whether to do it or not.

@RabbitsRock I saw T&D in Birmingham last night! What a show! You will really enjoy it!
I’m packing for a romantic mini break with dh to celebrate our anniversary. Made slightly less romantic by the fact I am on antibiotics for a uti 😩
Absolutely bloody typical!!

Bbq1 · 26/04/2025 10:52

Morning @lucysmam
and others

Just waiting to jump in the shower sfter dh. We had tea and toast in bed. We're going shopping then this afternoon I'm meeting a friend for coffee who I haven't seen in 2 years! The reason being is that I 've been very ill with recurrent cancer for the last 2 years. This time last year I was in hospital having a Stem Cell Transplant. In remission now so all good. I started back at work this week on a phased return. I have permanently reduced from 5 days to 2 but my return involved me working one hour on Thursday and one hour on Friday this week, then 2 hours each Thursday and Friday next week and so on until I'm back working the 2 full days. I have related health problems from the chemo /sct recovery so I'm feeling the mental and physical toll. I have lovely colleagues (done friends) and I enjoy my job though . 5 days to recover now! Phew!
Please post a photo of some of your peg dolls @lucysmamaI would love to see them.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Crunchymum · 26/04/2025 11:00

Just back from swimming lessons for DC1 and DC3. A quick snack and we're back at the pool for DC2. We are in and out of the leisure centre on a Saturday until 1pm.

I've made a picnic for us though as it's quite nice here so after the final lesson we'll head to the park for a few hours.

Later will be homework / chores / relaxing. Not sure about dinner yet but I have chicken that either needs using or freezing so probably fajitas. Or maybe spicy chicken with rice and salad.

We're trying to move away from TV in the evenings so we're having regular board game nights. Tonight it's Risk (last night was Monopoly!).

BeNiceWhenItsFinished · 26/04/2025 11:03

I've been to the supermarket, got home and just finished unpacking it all. Now drinking coffee and cat cuddling. There is the prospect of decluttering later on, as we have relatives coming to stay soon and the spare room is currently a dumping ground. Fun fun fun!

Harrysmummy246 · 26/04/2025 11:04

Breakfast and fed dogs, pilates, walked dogs, rowing shortly. In between try and pretend to do some housework before going to hide in my greenhouse.v

Fabulousagain · 26/04/2025 11:15

Good morning @lucysmam and the Saturday gang. Love these threads and really enjoy reading what everyone is up to.

@DilemmaDelilah - wow big changes for you. Enjoy retirement! Sounds like your DH won’t know what’s hit him! 😄

@Bbq1 - wow. You have been through a lot. Glad to read you are in remission.

I have been up for ages and had a lovely WhatsApp group chat with friends. One in Sydney, one in Melbourne, one in Christchurch (NZ) and me in UK. I will never not appreciate the internet for able to do all of that for the price of our internet connection. We lived overseas before the internet was a thing (yes I am old!) and calling friends and family was so expensive we rarely did it. So an hour of just random chit chat with friends was so lovely. I just wish Beam Me Up travel in Star Trek style never became a real thing!

I have had a nice breakfast of scrambled eggs, avocado and cherry tomatoes and a slice of toast. About to empty the dishwasher and then get dressed and go for a walk. Then I need to go to the supermarket for a few things.

This afternoon I’m going to start knitting a blanket from a kit I bought. I haven’t knit in years!

MsPenguins · 26/04/2025 11:22

Just have the cleaners in to clean downstairs apart from the one room and upstairs bathroom so cleared the bathroom bottles before that. There was about a metre of bottles and the cat leaped over all of them as if I had made a new cat game.

We have some plants I ordered arriving today, some French lavenders, ready for us to do some gardening tomorrow. DH also needs to get oil for his car.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Topsy44 · 26/04/2025 11:22

Good morning Lucysmam and All

On my third cup of tea now and just watching a bit of the Pope’s funeral while on here too.

DD13 is in her room supposedly doing some maths revision for a Maths MT test she is doing on Thursday and Dcat is sprawled out in our sunny spot in the lounge just loving life.

I’ve tidied the kitchen this morning and put a wash on. After my cuppa I will mow the back lawn and do some weeding of the patio. Hopefully if the weather stays as it is here (am in the SE) will then enjoy my newly cut grass and weeded patio and will sit out there with a book and a coffee.

Online shop coming late afternoon then pizza for tea with Dr Who!

Thislittlekitten · 26/04/2025 11:24

Morning everyone.

DS and I have been up for hours. We sat out front with the dog and cats for a bit then DM dropped stuff off.

We have walked Ddog, been to the library and butcher for sausages I just cooked.

We were hoping to do a bit in the garden but it’s drizzly. Need to clean my car and pop to shops.

DD still asleep and DH away.

Tonight will just be quiet. Movie and easy tea.

JustAnInchident · 26/04/2025 11:24

Good morning all, wishing you all a very happy weekend.
Taking it easy here today. My three year old has been meticulously painting a big rock he found that simply HAD to come home with us earlier in the week while we were at the beach, and I’ve been pottering about doing jobs, laundry, dishwasher, whatnot, one handed, with my (nearly) seven week old snoozing on my other arm. Will load the whole team (kids and dogs!) up in the farm truck to do stock checks later on, and maybe wander through the woods on our land to see the bluebells.
DH is working a half day today then off to a stag do later (it’s actually a joint stag/hen do which I was invited to as well but y’know, clingy newborn!) so hoping to get out and about tomorrow when he’s home. I don’t mind at all when it’s just me with the kids usually but it’s been a hectic week of very little sleep as both kids have had stinking colds.

ReacherOMGyes · 26/04/2025 11:26

Up at 5.30 to catch a flight, now waiting at the airport for another flight to the Canaries for a week 😎

A holiday is the only reason I'd be up at 5.30 in a Saturday though

mamaduckbone · 26/04/2025 11:28

Good morning @lucysmam and all.
I went for a very short, half-hearted run first thing as my running buddy wasn't around.
We're clearing the top bit of the garden this morning and putting bark down to suppress the weeds - when we moved in 4 years ago we had some horrible unruly conifers cut down but have never really decided what to do with the space. Dh and ds2 have gone to get some more bags of bark since we wildly underestimated so I'm taking 5 minutes break.
Birthday bbq for a friend this evening so that will be nice. Ds2 will have lots of mates there so it will be a good family get-together and a break from the drudgery of revision for him.
Have a good day everyone!

LightCameraBitchSmile · 26/04/2025 11:51

I had a super lie in after a mad week and consecutive nights out. So woke up very late and only just having my first tea sat in my arm chair in the window. Listening to an interview with Jack Dee on the radio which is making me chuckle.

Have done a cursory kitchen tidy but the house is a mess. Stuck in that awkward phase of not wanting to sort it out as I’m going out in 2 hours…. But I could probably achieve a lot if I just stand up and start!

lunch with be something healthy and salad based to make up for the last few days. Dinner will probably be out as I’m off out again tonight!

Andnowshesatoddler · 26/04/2025 11:52

We've been watching the funeral this morning, I'm not at all a religious person but it's been very interesting.
Think we may feed the ducks later on and a trip to the pet shop.
