Anyone worked for someone famous?

I’m working in a company for an influencer/z list celeb. She’s well known in a certain group of people and hangs around with some pretty famous faces. She has her own fashion company.

I don’t report into her, but work closely with her and she is an utter bitch. The way she comes across on social media is so…different. Her intern films her for content daily and she puts on such a smiley show. When the camera is off, she’s rude, demanding, bitches about everyone in the team, including members of the team that go above and beyond to make her business a success and make her happy…I could go on.

she contradicts herself constantly, making me feel like I’m going mad. I know if I died tmrw she wouldn’t care. She cares only about herself and her success. She’s not even nice about her husband, who is such a lovely guy.

I want to get out this company asap. It’s just difficult to know where to go and what to do next so in the meantime…has anyone else experienced similar?

I have lost all respect for this woman. She is awful and everyone that works for her knows it.

'Status Quo - one was funny and charming the other was rude and arrogant.'

I can guess which one's which! I met Roger Taylor and John Deacon (of Queen) and Rick Parfitt from Quo at the theatre once. I was an obsessive Queen fan. Both of them were perfectly nice, but Rick Parfitt was one of the loveliest people I've ever met. A total sweetheart.

I was guessing the other way round as I once found myself, along with lots of other people, in the bar of my local with Francis Rossi after Status Quo had done a gig in that town and he was indeed funny and charming to everyone.

Aren't influencers like that because they've got no real talent? At least with a actor or musician who has had to work hard (not a nepo baby) they know the meaning of work and have worked hard to get to where they are.

The likes of Ed Sheeran, Take That all started from nothing and worked their way up. Ed used to busk.

You just have to look at the likes of Lauren Goodman who is only an influencer now as she slept with a stupid/thick footballer and has made it her mission to make sure everyone knows that.

She’s not an influencer. She buys followers and her engagement is abysmal.

One of my cousins is close to one of Roy Keane's Daughters. Has been at their house and has met him a few times. He's very much in the background but also seemed really nice, good dad vibes. His kids all adore him and they are all very normal people. His wife is also apparently really lovely.

I met the actor Rasmus Hardiker (was in lead balloon and saxendale) he was really lovely and surprisingly attractive in real life.

There's a difference between being assertive and being a complete bitch.

You can be assertive without destroying another female.

Women ARE nasty to each other.

In my current workplace none of the male colleagues are arguing with each other. A lot of the female colleagues are arguing with each other.

Then the women never let the argument go. They pump it up and abuse the woman to other people working there.

I've seen women be vindictive and nasty to other women loads of times. And it all boils down to jealousy.

See the poster on here who said that she always prefers to have a male boss over a female boss

Yes - you only need to look at current global leaders to see what good managers men are. Thank fuck more women aren’t in charge - can you imagine what a shitshow it would be.

I worked on a deal (M&A) for a very famous billionaire. He works his team incredibly hard and has very high standards, as you’d expect, but socially he’s very polite and respectful. Some of my team got to ride in his private jet to a meeting (unfortunately I missed this!)

I wonder if this is the same UNWI I used to work for...doesn't get a good rap in the papers but I don't have anything bad to say about him, and he was exceptionally down-to-earth, even if he sometimes expected miracles 😁

BitOutOfPractice · 24/04/2025 13:30

I LOVE these types of threads.

I gave Tony Benn a quite long lift once. He was absolutely lovely. Engaged, chatty, funny and just as interesting as you’d expect. I already loved him but I ADORED him after that.

MrsMitford3 · 24/04/2025 13:32

My DD is not at all into football despite (or maybe because) we are a big football household.

She was nannying for a child who was at a super posh private school and at collection the first day she wasn't completely sure where to go so she asked a nearby Dad. He was incredibly nice and helpful and they always chatted after that.

Later she found out he is a famous PL goalkeeper. It might have been nice for him to talk to someone who so clearly had no idea who he was. 😂

I'm betting on Lorna Luxe, I don't think she hides any of this very well on social media/what she says on podcasts in particular.

Argh, I can't hear a bad word about Claudia! Hope she was just having an 'off' day...

Sadly it was every day for 16 weeks - maybe she was just having a bad few months.

She was brilliant with the contestants.

James Corden’s reputation is interesting. I want to think he is who he appears to be but I really hate anyone who humiliates waiting staff.
I’ve been a waitress and it’s exhausting and you’re at the mercy of the management, the kitchen, the staffing levels, your training. It so hard to achieve a perfect restaurant experience. I think customers should behave with grace wherever possible.

I've met him through work and believe everything I've read about his reputation. It all fits with what I saw of him.

Starlight1984 · 24/04/2025 13:40

I love these threads and find them really interesting BUT (as with the Status Quo example above!) I don't think working with or dealing with someone as a one off can give you a very good picture of what they're like as everyone has good and bad days.

The ones where they have been a live-in nanny / cook / PA etc obviously get a much better picture!

We've been watching the Joe and Stacey documentary (I know, I know!) and were saying the other night that I wonder what they are like to work for / with and whether they're as happy and bubbly as they come across!

I once met Harry Redknap, walking his dog. Very friendly, down to earth chap.

I also met Harry Redknap and he was lovely-had a picture with him-when I told him my DH was an Arsenal fan he promptly put his arm around me for the picture as a joke.
Blew it up for DH birthday to much hilarity

My dad was a session musician in the 70s and 80s - most of the people he worked with were fine, BUT he didnt have a good word for Van Morrison.

There's an adage that goes something like: there's people who like Van Morrison, and people who have met Van Morrison!

Poonu · 24/04/2025 13:42

Family friend works for H & M in Cali. Speaks very highly of them both.

I've seen him action...not a nice man.

I really like these kinds of threads. I haven’t any claim to fame but I did once ask (years ago in London) Andy Bell of Erasure, if he’d sign my bag. He didn’t say anything but he did oblige. Does that count? 😁

He’d be a brilliant guy to have a dinner with. He’s so interesting.

Me too...wish we had a few more like him now.

I know of a few people who work for the Duke of Westminster. Reports I have had on the former Duke and new Duke, Hugh have been very positive. They seem remarkably down to earth.

Sounds like you need to meet more women. None of the women I work with (or know) are like that.

dabbadoos · 24/04/2025 13:46

yes, for a well known person. She’s done telly and newspaper and is considered very kind and wise.
She was a rude, cantankerous, difficult person to work with, totally lacking the empathy she feigned so convincingly on TV.

80smonster · 24/04/2025 13:47

That you, Laura Jackson?

TiggyTomCat · 24/04/2025 13:49

As a former practice nurse over the years and in different practices I've had a few well known celebrities/household names in my treatment room - all utterly and totally charming. Holding a syringe in their direction probably helped though! 😂

namechangeforthisfredonly · 24/04/2025 13:50

Dawn French, a gorgeous person inside and out. Busy and stressed out sometimes, but just lovely. I worked with her for five years and it was a joy.

A good friend of mine worked for Jeremy Irons. He's apparently harmless but batshit crazy😄

VenusClapTrap · 24/04/2025 13:53

I worked for Zoe Ball for a year or two. She couldn’t be lovelier - what you see is exactly what you get. Genuine, friendly, thoughtful and generous.

I met Kate Adie through work years ago. She was incredible - a consummate professional, nice to people, and fascinating to listen to. There was no getting a word in edgeways though! She really commanded a room.

A friend worked with Helena Bonham Carter on the Harry Potter films and said she was delightful to everyone.

Harry Redknapp was on a plane I was on, kicking off and being horrid to the crew because he wanted a free upgrade and didn’t get one.
