Anyone worked for someone famous?

I’m working in a company for an influencer/z list celeb. She’s well known in a certain group of people and hangs around with some pretty famous faces. She has her own fashion company.

I don’t report into her, but work closely with her and she is an utter bitch. The way she comes across on social media is so…different. Her intern films her for content daily and she puts on such a smiley show. When the camera is off, she’s rude, demanding, bitches about everyone in the team, including members of the team that go above and beyond to make her business a success and make her happy…I could go on.

she contradicts herself constantly, making me feel like I’m going mad. I know if I died tmrw she wouldn’t care. She cares only about herself and her success. She’s not even nice about her husband, who is such a lovely guy.

I want to get out this company asap. It’s just difficult to know where to go and what to do next so in the meantime…has anyone else experienced similar?

I have lost all respect for this woman. She is awful and everyone that works for her knows it.

Bob geldof is hardly going to be in a great mood when his ex wife, the mother of his children died a tragic death, and then his daughter Pixie geldof also died tragically. Is he?

Of course he's going to be grumpy.

I remember he said once that sometimes when he's out shopping, the grief can hit him so bad, that he runs out to have a cry.

Pixie Geldof is alive, it was her sister Peaches that died young. I get your point though.

I'm in broadcasting so have worked with many, many celebrities over the years. Most are really nice. As another poster said, usually the more famous they are the nicer they are to everyone. Brand new reality or talent show slebs are often the worst for rudeness and entitled behaviour.

But Marti Pellow is pretty much the only one who was vile, bordering on aggressive with me. It was like he was channelling Begbie from Trainspotting.

Was this a lot of years ago? He's been clean and sober for almost 30 years and as someone who's been a fan for almost 40 years, I think the MP at the height of WWW's fame was somewhat troubled and therefore would explain the version of him you describe above.

Quite the gentleman these days, I can speak from personal experience..

Hippywannabe · 26/04/2025 07:04

I was on a tv show with James Martin, filming started around 7 am until about 9pm so it was a long day. He was utterly lovely, really patient with the boys that were in the show, even took my son and his friend on a ride in his sports car.

aphroditeflighty · 26/04/2025 07:06

Never worked for anyone famous, but last year I sold something to Sylvester Stallone's brother, and they were very impolite and impatient, despite I had been very kind and communicative. It's been years since I've come across another customer with a lack of manners to that same degree. Maybe they were having an off day.

My husband met him years ago, pre live aid they supported him at a gig (yeah he’s really old), says he was awful, really up himself, miserable etc. So I think his attitude predated all the trauma.

CanYouTurnItDown · 26/04/2025 07:18

My uncle knew Jeff Beck well and really liked him, they all went out for dinner with Johnny Depp and he said that he was really lovely. An absolute gentleman. Uncle is in his 80’s so not really JD’s usual fan base 🤣

Well, please don't stop there!
You actually peed on her? Or similar?
It can't be as bad as what we are now imagining - or can it?

Look at the username!

beguilingeyes · 26/04/2025 07:29

Beverley Craven (mediocre 90s chanteuse) is utterly vile. Tried to get a woman fired from a radio station because she didn't like a question she'd asked her. Really horrible to work with. Bullies everyone.

Mr Teasy Weasy?

Did you just make this up?

Nope, definitely a real person.

AnneElliotsBestFriend · 26/04/2025 07:45

I was working on my dissertation and wrote to Antony Sher to ask his view on the character he was playing (Richard 111). I didn’t expect he would bother to reply. Instead I got a lovely reply answering all my questions and asking me to write back. This lasted nearly a year and when he was on tour in Australia he gave me his agent’s address so my letters would reach him on tour. I never got to meet him but he was so wonderful. When I’m started teaching I always encouraged my students to write to their heroes because you never know they might even write back.

IridescentRainbow · 26/04/2025 07:49

An old story, this, and it’s not mine. My friend and her son lived in Bradford. They are both dead now. Paul was very disabled and at the time theatres were not accessible for wheelchairs. Paul was a huge pop music fan and the only way he could watch shows was from the wings. Joan became a mum figure to all the pop groups playing. She would run to the shop for them, sew on buttons etc, and Paul was treated like one of the boys. The Rolling Stones made him an honorary member of the band. The only person who was ever horrible was John Lennon. Paul was in his usual place in the wings and Lennon refused to go past him to go on stage. He said “I’m not walking past that twisted freak “. The other 3 were embarrassed and tried to persuade him but he wouldn’t go on until they moved Paul. Afterwards Paul said to him “John, I may be a twisted freak, but I am your biggest fan, please can I have your autograph?”. Lennon refused. Joan never forgave him. The others tried to make up for it by giving Paul gifts and posing for photos.

I had a similar experience with Sue Johnstone when I wrote to her about her wonderful work playing a rape victim in Brookside.

Leafy3 · 26/04/2025 08:10

@IridescentRainbow that's awful. I've never heard a good thing about John lennon

ScupperedbytheSea · 26/04/2025 08:12

I work for someone famous now. Can't say who as it would be outing.
They are extremely demanding/exacting, but can also be very personable and inspirational.
Sometimes I love it because it's a rather unique experience, sometimes I hate it because there's 'world revolves around them' vibe at work that I just can't be arsed with. I think they know this too, and it makes for an interesting dynamic.
They were getting a bit rude at some points with more junior staff, and I had a word, and they've been better.
It's been a learning curve the past few years, but I wouldn't necessarily do it again.
('they' used a th intent so as not to reveal whether woman or man).

Aren't influencers like that because they've got no real talent? At least with a actor or musician who has had to work hard (not a nepo baby) they know the meaning of work and have worked hard to get to where they are.

The likes of Ed Sheeran, Take That all started from nothing and worked their way up. Ed used to busk.

You just have to look at the likes of Lauren Goodman who is only an influencer now as she slept with a stupid/thick footballer and has made it her mission to make sure everyone knows that.

Exactly this. Influencers are not celebrities… they’re human beings with no real talent of their own. What I would do OP is, when said influencer is rude to you ask them « have you any idea how rude and horrid you actually are? » … sometimes people get used to being that way and forget.how to treat others .. they’ve lost themselves in their own little talentless bubble. I will guarantee their ego is extremely fragile … they’ve lost themselves in a plastic world … they may get a lot of money … but I guarantee they won’t be around « influencing » in 15 years. Their shelf life is short … move out and get on with your own life … theirs will implode all by itself.

Dawn French, a gorgeous person inside and out. Busy and stressed out sometimes, but just lovely. I worked with her for five years and it was a joy.

A good friend of mine worked for Jeremy Irons. He's apparently harmless but batshit crazy😄

Oh yes Jeremy Irons. Very eccentric but rather brilliant. Few years ago now, but he had a small very stinky little white dog he insisted on bringing everywhere, even where dogs were not allowed, and he used to make people hold it or have it on their knee. Thankfully I escaped that honour.

My friend went out with a z list actress, very famous in the 90s with a failing current career. She was an absolute narcissitic phsycho, had a little hareem of gay guys who worshiped her and egged on her insane mental ways and my friend ended up in therapy after the relationship. I met her a few times when I had just had a baby and was quite overweight, and then I lost some weight a good few stone and met her again and she had a personality switch on me, it was really odd, she was spitting venom at me the whole night.

Patsy Kensit? Have had friends work with her and say she’s a bit of a nightmare…

LillyPJ · 26/04/2025 08:35

@AnneElliotsBestFriend I was a teacher for a while. My class enjoyed reading 'Clockwork' by Philip Pullman and wrote letters about the book which I sent to him. He sent a long reply, making comments and answering individual questions. There must have been about 25 letters and he seemed to have read them all. That was lovely.

How horrible, Lennon doesn't seem like a nice man in interviews.

My sister in law worked with Trevor Eve. Total pervert and talked about weird fetishes. She was amazed he hasn’t been cancelled. I’m still gutted as I always fancied him in Waking the Dead.

Someone always pops on a thread to say that, whenever anyone dares to mention that women can be cruel.

I'm 40 . I've worked in many different jobs. In many different places.

The women have been the same in every job. I've seen groups of women gang up on , amd bully some woman in every job I've been in.

The female managers have always been worse than the men.

In my opinion, the bad side of men is they can be physically and sexually destructive.

The bad side of women is that women can be emotionally destructive. You never see men isolate and bully a man in the workplace I've seen women do it so so so many times.

Agree with the ganging up on. Had this happen to me many years ago. Was actually aware of whispering and this one woman gathering together her little gang to back her up. I was totally innocent of what she accused me of and she apologised a few days later but it was never the same for me working there afterwards.

These are all just one off chats or meetings so don’t take into account if they are having a bad day.

Just lovely:
Bryan Adams
Tom Hanks
Ardal O’Hanlon
Craig David-that one surprised me
Steve Jones

Rude: Gary Linekar. Terry Pratchett and heard this from other people.

Difficult to work with: Nicky Campbell

I've run into Gary Lineker a few times locally. One time he looked so gloriously beautiful I nearly fell over, the other time he looked very rough and scrawny. Clothes maketh the man in his case. I thought he was very clever to have perfected a middle distance gaze.

Nope, definitely a real person.

When I was a child, the girl next door worked for Teasy Weasy Raymond.

Unluckily for her he put her on dyeing people’s hair and she got a very bad reaction on her hands from the dye and had to give up her job there.

She was very nice and we all liked her.
