Anyone worked for someone famous?

I’m working in a company for an influencer/z list celeb. She’s well known in a certain group of people and hangs around with some pretty famous faces. She has her own fashion company.

I don’t report into her, but work closely with her and she is an utter bitch. The way she comes across on social media is so…different. Her intern films her for content daily and she puts on such a smiley show. When the camera is off, she’s rude, demanding, bitches about everyone in the team, including members of the team that go above and beyond to make her business a success and make her happy…I could go on.

she contradicts herself constantly, making me feel like I’m going mad. I know if I died tmrw she wouldn’t care. She cares only about herself and her success. She’s not even nice about her husband, who is such a lovely guy.

I want to get out this company asap. It’s just difficult to know where to go and what to do next so in the meantime…has anyone else experienced similar?

I have lost all respect for this woman. She is awful and everyone that works for her knows it.

My proudest claim to fame was Tony Benn buying me breakfast ( a bacon sarnie and cup of tea) on a train journey.
He was lovely, and we chatted non stop for an hour and a half😁

I can confirm that Robson Green is a wonderful human being.

Concur about Tony Benn, met him once and he was lovely, very genuine and engaging

I agree with this. The majority of women bosses I've had have been bullies in one way or another. Most recent one took credit for my work and was power hungry.

My best bosses have both been men.

Welcome back to the 1950s ladies and gentlemen! 😬

I’m very surprised that someone said Whitney Houston was not a nice person. My younger sister met her when she was 18 and a runner at the bbc for a number of shows including Wogan and TOTPS and her and Whitney hit it off from the beginning. They kept in touch and Whitney flew my sister round the globe supported her through her marriage breakdown and gifted her money for her daughter’s education. We met her at numerous family functions over the years and it was hard to see her decline. My sister said Bobby brown was the worse thing that ever happened to her friend

Strangeworldtoday · 24/04/2025 17:50

My friend went out with a z list actress, very famous in the 90s with a failing current career. She was an absolute narcissitic phsycho, had a little hareem of gay guys who worshiped her and egged on her insane mental ways and my friend ended up in therapy after the relationship. I met her a few times when I had just had a baby and was quite overweight, and then I lost some weight a good few stone and met her again and she had a personality switch on me, it was really odd, she was spitting venom at me the whole night.

19 year old me was doing a temp job for a film company based in Soho - I was asked to go down to reception collect a guest and bring them up - lift doors opened and there was stood David Bowie in his just pre Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence period , utterly charming, no entourage and drop dead beautiful!

I spent the entire lift journey back up trying really hard to concentrate on what he was saying and not just scream in his face "I love you and want your babies"

Oh I am so jealous (my user name shows my devotion ). One of my mates encountered him at a record signing at HMV, said his beauty was almost unreal. I would have flung myself at him, poor man!

Hoppinggreen · 24/04/2025 17:53

I was on a Trade Mission thing in Manchester with The Japanese Ambassador and Andy Burnham was there. He was making himself a cuppa and made me one too and we chatted for a bit. Lovely man and his eyelashes are indeed that fabulous

I've had two female managers that were bullies. One time I was so close to crashing my car into a tree just to not go to work, I basically had a breakdown because of the bullying. The second one played favourites, belittled me in front of people, left an email I had sent on my desk with 'corrections' on because I hadn't written it the way she wrote hers (she wss rude in hers). It put me right off working for a female manager.

My current manager is male and he's absolutely wonderful, so calm, never a bad word, never criticises, very understanding and compassionate, has empathy and always finds ways to make work life better.

Men are just better than women

Men are just better than women

Not better.

But I think a lot of women are very very emotionally cruel to other women .

Maybe it comes from not liking themselves? And then being resentful of the competition

My work is connected to David Attenborough.
He is as lovely, intelligent and passionate as he seems on camera.

Sighing with relief to hear this, I think it would crush me to hear otherwise

Can I ask why you explained a man’s behaviour off due to the death of his daughter but seem quite a bit less compassionate towards women?

If we continue to preach women are awful bosses and to work with why would men who still hold the majority of power promote us? Hire us?

I think it sets a very dangerous tone for women in the work force.

David Tennant was a disappointment. Snappy, rude and had a sense of entitlement. I thought maybe he was stressed and ignored it but the other staff said he's usually like that 😔

I know someone who had a relationship with him and he dumped her very casually and unceremoniously. She asked why he'd bothered with her as he clearly wasn't really into her, and he shrugged and said, 'It's nice to have someone around.'

John Humphrys was a cunt. Just like on the radio. Argumentative, surly, and combative for no reason.

Joan Bakewell was a joy: funny, polite, charming.

Paul Merton was shy, quiet, unassuming, but very passionate and articulate once he got going talking about comedy history.

He's old enough to be my father but I've got a bit of a crush on Robson Green!

My husband sat next to Robson Green on a flight from Newcastle to London several years ago - said he was really friendly and chatty until his manager appeared, and then he changed and was quite off-ish and just 'different'. As soon as the manager walked away he was back to his chatty, friendly self again.

Enterthewolves · 24/04/2025 18:07

Robson Green was in a play with my sixth form drama teacher - he came to the last night of the sixth form production of Equus and when we all went out for a cheap meal after came with us, was bloody delightful and paid our booze bill before he left without telling us. The drama teacher - also lovely - was Ralph Ineson.

My sister worked for Diana Ross' husband, and she used to come into the office often. She said she was lovely, very unDiva. Happy to make her own coffee!

Wow, that really surprises me, I'd have had her pegged as a difficult diva! Just goes to show you can never tell.

Duh stupid me thought you meant the shop h&m!!!

I thought they meant Cali in Columbia, like the Cali Cartel (have been watching "Narcos" recently) and was trying to think of famous drug dealers installed H &M.

SnoozingFox · 24/04/2025 18:19

I've been an extra on film sets and seen some household names up close and in work mode. Some are absolutely lovely. Some are utter arses. You can tell their personality by the way they interact with the "little people" like the extras, the wardrobe tech, the runners.

My dad was a session musician in the 70s and 80s - most of the people he worked with were fine, BUT he didnt have a good word for Van Morrison.

Why am I not surprised.
I paid good money to see Van Morrison in concert in Dublin and he didn’t interact with the audience once.

Now Bruce Springsteen on the other hand - at a concert in Ireland last year and his first song was a tribute to Sinéad O’ Connor. How lovely was that ❤️

MirrorMirror1247 · 24/04/2025 18:21

My boyfriend worked with Martin Compston on an episode of Silent Witness and says he was lovely, they had a good chat and there's even a photo of them deep in conversation!

Grammarninja · 24/04/2025 18:22

My dad is a doctor and was called out to see Mel Gibson when he was working on Braveheart many, many years ago. My dad had a keyring at the time which had a pic of myself and my sister. Mel noticed it and asked Dad if we'd like to come and watch some filming.
We ended up joining him on set and he was so lovely. He called us over as soon as he saw us, gave us directors' chairs alongside his and let us watch what had just been filmed, asking us our opinions etc. I was about 9. I didn't really know him from films but just loved spending time with such a lovely, friendly, fun guy.

Tiger, I like your user name.

To be fair, I don't think she presents herself as warm and fluffy. I've seen a few of her stage shows and she talks about struggling with interactions when she's not well. No excuse to be rude though.

Thank you!

and you make a fair point about her…

Catrionablocke · 24/04/2025 18:23

My cousin worked in a hotel in a small town and anyone who was anyone stayed there whilst in the area.
A house nearby was used for filming and at different times, Diana Rigg and Edward Fox stayed. Both were very nice, Edward Fox was friendly to everyone and always quick to open doors for staff. Diana Rigg he said was very nice and ordinary and also absolutely beautiful.
The guests he dreaded were professional footballers as most of them thought the sun shone out of their own backsides.

i was told a story about Nadiya Hussein being a complete diva at a food festival. Really surprised but the events person couldn’t wait to get rid of her after the event was over.

Aw that’s disappointing, she seems so genuinely nice in her cooking shows. I don’t think I’ll pick up any of her packets in Aldi now 😂
