I'm in my usual kitchen spot, still looking at moved stuff & clutter after last week's rewire but not getting anywhere sorting it out. The cats have been fed (by dd1 🤯) & have vanished back to bed. I've been awake since 6 ish but snoozed for a while on & off.

Dd1's left already to catch a train & go join the queue for Inhaler at The Leadmill tonight. There were 20 or so people when I spoke to her. I'm joining her later...fully prepared for an argument with the person who has put themself "in charge" of the queue & is handing out numbers 🙄 apparently someone dd knows has joined & they wouldn't do a +1. They do my head in. I don't particularly want to queue all day, but I'd rather dd wasn't sat on her own alllllll day. & I'm not not joining her just because I have an appointment...bloody stupid.

I'm off for my 3 monthly cancer meds later today & to collect my tablets from the hospital pharmacy. Then nip home to drop them off, and catch the train to meet dd. I'll pick up some sort of snack on my way.

Dd2's off Easter egg shopping with their dad...goodness knows what eggs we'll end up with 🤷‍♀️. Hopefully they remember the other bits we need too! She has some homework to do, and then wanted to do something for English revision too, so she'll probably do that when they get in.

We're going to both Leadmill gigs, so it'll be last bus home for me and dd1, and straight to bed after a cuppa for me 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning!

I am trying to muster up energy to get sorted for church this morning. My hayfever has been utterly horrendous this week and it's really taking it out of me. After church I'll take the children to the park to burn off some of their energy. Home for biscuit decorating, a nap and probably a film later. I have to get some housework done for relatives visiting tomorrow.

Beautifulsunflowers · 18/04/2025 08:58

Good morning @lucysmam
I’m packing as we’re away for the weekend with family. Both DS’s are meeting us there with their girlfriends and I’m packing the bits they’ve forgotten to take!!
i start a new job next week so also trying to think ahead to what I’m going to need for that.
have a great Easter 🐣

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 18/04/2025 08:58

Its my birthday. So plans to go out for lunch and then no as little as humanly possible.

lucysmam · 18/04/2025 09:04

Happiest of birthdays to you @JamesWebbSpaceTelescope 🥳. Enjoy your lunch!

@EsmeeMerlin that sounds a lovely chilled day 😊. I hope your hayfever calms down.

@Beautifulsunflowers enjoy your weekend away! I'd have been packed last weekend...packing & catching trains give me terrible anxiety 🤣 . I can manage both perfectly well, I don't know why they do it!

Good Morning. I’m just having my second cup of tea before I get dressed.

I need to do a quick clean and tidy of my kitchen and lounge then I’ll go visit my mum who is in a care home.

I need to do a huge food shop, DS is home from uni and it’s like a plague of locusts have been though our fridge and cupboards, and I’ve also ran out of washing powder.

This afternoon I plan to continue tackling the greenhouse - we’ve recently moved and the previous owner has left a dirty, overgrown and half smashed greenhouse. I’ve been doing bits to clear it out and clean it when I get the chance. DH is heading over to our old house which we haven’t sold yet to spray the patio with some kind of moss remover and clean it up.

Might go to our local pub for an hour late afternoon. DS is cooking tea and we’ll continue our binge of Yellowstone this evening.

Have a very Good Friday everyone!

FamingolosForDays · 18/04/2025 09:09

I was in bed by 7:30pm last night 🤣 I was up a few times in the night but I slept til 8am.
Best friend left earlier in the week back to the country where she lives, she arrived back in the middle of the night which was what woke me up.
The DCs are with their dad this bank holiday. I'm currently deciding whether I should even emerge from bed! I am being investigated for some health issues at the moment and really need the rest this weekend before back to school routine kicks in.

Tesco delivery arriving later so I think i'll be having fajitas and wine for tea!

Taytocrisps · 18/04/2025 09:11

Good morning @lucysmam . I had a nice lie on this morning (7 a.m.) but DCats were loudly expressing their hunger, so I had to get up to feed them. I've done my daily crossword and assorted word puzzles and now I'm just chilling on MN. The two cats are cuddling beside me on the sofa.

DD has a very rare day off (no college or work), so she's still in bed. Her boyfriend stayed over last night.

I'm going to make some toast shortly and another cuppa, and then head to the supermarket.

DD has offered to cook dinner, which I gladly accepted. It will free me up to give the house a good clean and put up a few Easter decorations. My Dad is coming to stay for Easter weekend.

It's a rainy start to the weekend, but for once I don't mind. I'm on holidays next week (staycation), so I have that holiday feeling. I've planned a few mini-trips with my Dad (weather permitting). Once he's gone home, I'm going to meet up with a few friends on different days.

lucysmam · 18/04/2025 09:11

@FamingolosForDays maybe emerge from bed, to visit sofa for a change of scenery, then back for a nap?

Oh yay. A Friday edition.

Happy Good Friday lucysmam and all.

DP is working and the youngest is with grandparents today so we've decided to have a mini tour of London.

We're going to do Big Ben, HoP, St James' Park and anything else we fancy in the vicinity. Then we're having Nandos for late lunch.

This evening we have cousins round for a sleepover (Sis and BIL are going to a posh, childfree wedding reception tonight) so I'm going to run to Sainsburys before we go out and grab some fruit for fruit platters, popcorn and other nibbles for later.

Very "un-Eastery" but will be a nice day.

lucysmam · 18/04/2025 09:14

@Crunchymum nothing screams "Easter" like joining a queue with a bunch of teenagers for a gig 🤣. It sounds like a nice day 😊

Dh being brought home from hospital today after he broke his hip in a fall and had to have surgery. All other plans cancelled ( including our long awaited holiday!). I usually do quite a lot to celebrate Easter but tbh,I can't be bothered this year.

Simonjt · 18/04/2025 09:21

Its our anniversary, well, its actually next friday, but both the kids have something on today so we’re going to go out for a nice lunch today and then go to a garden centre, I know, we’re wild. Six years together and four years married.

We tend to watch a film on fridays and today its our sons turn to pick, so lets see what he chooses, if we have time we’ll watch the first episode of the last of us this evening.

Rainbow1235 · 18/04/2025 09:26

Morning all I haven’t been on here for 2 weeks as had some bad news . My dad has been diagnosed with advanced osofegus cancer . We only lost mam to dementia last July so we are feeling very sad . He’s got an mri scan this morning then after that I need to pop to Asda for a few bits . Hope u all have a great and safe weekend

OneLilacEagle · 18/04/2025 09:27

Started my day as I have all week - at a rookie lifeguard class with DS. I was expecting to face a week of whinging about having to go, despite it being his choice, but he's totally loved it. Then I'm not sure. The forecast is pretty rubbish. I might try and encourage a beach walk before the rain starts then probably a screen heavy afternoon. Homemade pizza for dinner if I can face the kneading!

Topsy44 · 18/04/2025 09:30

Good morning Lucysmam and All!

Hopefully doing very little today as DD and I got back from our little break to Barcelona yesterday and were both shattered! So probably just getting the washing done and popping out for a mini shop later complete with Easter Eggs.

Hope all have a lovely Good Friday.

Defender90 · 18/04/2025 09:30

Morning!

Had a bit of a lie in, going to have a shower, pick up prescription, make an appt for the nurse and then it’s a couple of Zooms regarding some volunteering and new tattoo this afternoon.

It’s been a tumultuous week and I’m glad I’ve got the 4 day weekend to get back on top of things.

Have a lovely day everyone, love to everyone who is dealing with bad news and ongoing treatments.

FayKnights · 18/04/2025 09:32

Hi @lucysmam and the rest of you lovelies.
Love a bonus Good Friday thread!

Managed to haul myself downstairs earlier to let dogs out for a wee and to grab a cup of earl grey.

I plan to get up shortly and pop into town to pick up my HRT prescription and possible have a quick look in the shops.
Long dog walk later, and then I shall be relaxing for the rest of the day.

Enjoy your Friday all 🐣

FamingolosForDays · 18/04/2025 09:33

@lucysmam I like your style. My uncle told me to sit in the garden..... but I think I prefer your version 🤣
Have a great time at Inhaler!!!!!

Decafflatteplease · 18/04/2025 09:34

Morning @lucysmam I haven't done one of these for a few weeks!

All your gigs sounds fun. Hope meds go ok today.

We are having a cosy day at home today, we have bought a new greenhouse after we lost ours in a storm last year so we are getting that set up today it's just a small one not a shed type one like we used to have 😞

We've got some tomato plants to plant in there and also some bedding plants just for the pots at the front of the house so I'm looking forward to that this afternoon.

We've got a couple of different Easter crafts to do over the weekend we might make Easter nests today you know with rice Krispies.

I'll pop to church for the 3pm quiet time.

Fishcakes for dinner just easy but always fish on good Friday!

FamingolosForDays · 18/04/2025 09:35

Sending you both unmumsnetty-hugs @hedjwitch and @Rainbow1235

lucysmam · 18/04/2025 09:36

Happy anniversary @Simonjt , I hope you both have a lovely day & many more years to come 💐.

@Rainbow1235 I'm sorry to see your news, sending gentle <hugs> through the Internet.

Dd has our numbers, 26 & 27 😊. No argument either when she told them she wanted a +1. She's sat right next to the band's tour bus too so is well pleased with herself 🤣.

Good morning all! And Happy Good Friday to everyone.

Currently being very lazy and still in bed with a cuppa. Then I’ll be off to the supermarket for last few elements for Sunday’s lamb shoulder before getting ahead and cooking it today so I don’t have to get up early on Sunday.

Planning a nice walk this afternoon if I manage to get everything sorted in time. Maybe my last morning in bed was not such a good idea…..

Whattheduck · 18/04/2025 09:41

Had a rare lie in listening to a podcast
Put a wash on and fed the cat and dog
Just having a coffee and watching last night’s Emmerdale
Dh is still in bed he’s full of cold and didn’t sleep very well last night
Dd stayed at her boyfriend’s last night she’s working 10 til 4 then going out for dinner with her boyfriend and his family
No plans for today other than pottering around at home and taking the dog for a walk
Not sure what we’ll have for dinner tonight maybe fish and chips
Enjoy your day everyone

lucysmam · 18/04/2025 09:41

@FamingolosForDays if I'm having a lazy day, I rotate between kitchen spot, sofa laid down & bed for a nap 🤣. Maybe chuck in a bath if I can be arsed.

@Decafflatteplease I do love a gig! I haven't made Easter nests in years...I might request rice crispies, chocolate and mini eggs from the supermarket too 😋

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone and Happy Birthday @JamesWebbSpaceTelescope

Sorry to all those of you with poorly loved ones - hope you all get some comfort from the restful 4 day BH weekend.

I am delighted as I don’t have to work AT ALL over the weekend (NHS so very rare I get it all off). So I’m still luxuriating in a lie in with my cappuccino and book and magazine and YesStyle app - have developed an unhealthy obsession with Numbuzin and have been reading all about the products wondering which to try next with my birthday money.

We’re heading off to an Antiques Centre around lunchtime - looking for an ornate gilded mirror for the newly decorated bathroom, a desk and captain’s chair for the office (DH will be WFH permanently for the next 6 months god help me so we need to kit the office out properly so he doesn’t take over the dining room 😂). I’m also on the look out for a big candelabra and some ornate picture frames.

Then we’ll visit my Dad and brother as they’re going on holiday tonight so we won’t see them for Easter otherwise. Then drop DD1 at a sleepover and home to dinner and a movie. No wine for me tonight as have drank wine 3 nights in a row (birthday on Tuesday and just kept going!!)

Have a good day everyone
