Me Gen X. 19

Parents. Boomers. 16 and 18.

My DC. Gen Z. 22, 22 and 26. Still at home with no prospects of ever moving out.

Cakeybake · 15/04/2025 06:10

Millennial, 18 when I left for uni.

MsTada · 15/04/2025 06:13

Millennial, 19.

Icanttakethisanymore · 15/04/2025 06:13

I’m quite an old millennial (born in 84) and I left home at 18 when I went to uni and didn’t ever move back.

PenneyFouryourthoughts · 15/04/2025 06:15

Gen X: I was 19.
My mum left to get married at 21. She was a late boomer.
My dd is 18 and hasn't gone yet.

jellyfishperiwinkle · 15/04/2025 06:16

Gen X - 23, after university. Parents were war babies - they were 25 and 22 when they got married and left home- both left school at 16. DD1 is nearly 20 and at university but home a fair bit. DD2 is 16 - hope they will be at home for a while yet.

LateMumma · 15/04/2025 06:16

Gen X, 21

Eyesopenwideawake · 15/04/2025 06:19

Boomer. 17.

Hummusanddipdip · 15/04/2025 06:22

Me - millennial I was 22
Brother - also millennial left at 18 for uni and just didn't come home

Dad - late boomer was 18 but moved to his sisters until he was 20
Mum - gen x was 17 when she moved in with dad

My children are alpha, so a long time until they go yet.

suah · 15/04/2025 06:27

I went to university when I was 18 but still came home for the holidays. I moved out fully when I was 23 after the summer after finishing my masters. I’m a young millennial.

numberonepartyanthem · 15/04/2025 06:28

Millennial. Left at 18 for uni, moved back home at 25 to save a deposit to buy my first house, £12,000 saved between my now husband and I over 8 ish months and bought our shared ownership home. Bought a home that is fully ours at 31 (we’ve had to mortgage it)

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 15/04/2025 06:34

I’m a millennial and I moved out at 23 into the house I’d bought with DH (we got married a year later).

My DSis is also a milestone and never moved home again after leaving for uni at 18.

My DC are 11,4 and 1 (gen A/B) and no sign of them moving out yet.

Tbrh · 15/04/2025 06:38

22 Gen Y, might also be called a Millennial? I don't think it's a generation thing, it's a money thing and depends what your home life is like. I had strict parents so needed to escape! I've purposely got a big house so DC can live here until they're much older. I feel sorry for kids today, moving out of home is a rite of passage that I don't think you can have if you move out when you're 30+! But most won't have a choice. In saying that my boomer parents had it worse they had to leave school and start working at 13/14 to bring money into the family. So I guess my generation had it best.

Cheerfulcharlie · 15/04/2025 06:39

Gen x 19 when I went to uni

MummaMummaMumma · 15/04/2025 06:39

Millennial - aged 21, into the house me and my now husband bought.

WinterFoxes · 15/04/2025 06:41

Gen x 18. I lived in a tiny grim bedsit and had to pay extra every time I wanted to have a bath. Then lived in a massive house that was so falling down, only the ground floor and basement were habitable. The landlord was like the one in The Young Ones and came once a week for cash in hand rent.

claudiaswinklemen · 15/04/2025 06:43

Gen X 16.

I wonder if class plays a role?

Oganesson118 · 15/04/2025 06:45

I’m a millennial. I sort of left home at 19 when I went to uni although for the first 3 years I would go home for the holidays. I suppose I’d say I moved out “properly” when I moved in with my boyfriend in my final year, so 22.

2boyzNosleep · 15/04/2025 06:52

Millennial- 23

More of a money issue, low paid job and did not have the option of moving back with parents if things went wrong , or any financial support so had to make sure I would be in a position to move out permanently.

A lot of my peers moved in & out of their parents home between 18-25/26/27yrs, so I'm interested in how many people that moved out at 18 actually lived independently from that age.

Millennial not milestone 🙄🤦‍♀️

Trolllol · 15/04/2025 06:54

Millennial age 20

PoppyBaxter · 15/04/2025 06:55

Old millennial (41).

Left home for uni at 18. Came back briefly for 6 weeks when I graduated, then packed a suitcase and moved to my boyfriend's (now DH!) town several hours away. Have lived away ever since.

Pe1ican · 15/04/2025 06:56

Millennial (2nd half) and bought a house and moved out at 23. I had previously moved away for uni but returned home afterwards

jazzcat25 · 15/04/2025 06:58

Millennial - went to uni at 18 but came home for holidays. Moved in with BF now DH at 21 for my final year and never returned.

jazzcat25 · 15/04/2025 07:00

By contrast, younger brother (also millennial) left home at 30.
