One did, one didn't.

The one who did needed a bit of time to decompress from all the intensity and took a bar job, then found work in their field and off they went.

Firenzeflower · 12/04/2025 22:14

I came back from uni and lived with my parents for a month then I never did again. My sibling came back and lived there for 10 years.

zeddybrek · 12/04/2025 22:15

I left home for uni and never went back. That was over 20 years ago though.

FrenchandSaunders · 12/04/2025 22:16

No. She loved the town, found a job and a partner and is thriving.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 12/04/2025 22:17

Both did, for at least a few months - until they’d paid off their overdrafts IIRC!

jenakt · 12/04/2025 22:20

No. DD was eligible for council housing and was allocated a house part way through her course. She swapped it for a flat in London and had no need to come back and live with us.

Yetanothernewname101 · 12/04/2025 22:22

Neither of ours did. They moved to the uni town, loved it, settled, and that was them. We helped them buy flats in 3rd year as it was cheaper than paying rent and they were applying for jobs where they were for after graduation.
We also never went back home after going to uni!

Eyerollexpert · 12/04/2025 22:25

Oldest two did not but were a couple of years older when they went to uni. Third came home for six months and then moved away. Forth currently on a sandwich year saving as much as possible for a future deposit on a house. He says he will come home and stay for a year maybe after uni until he has a full deposit but that depends on where his career takes him.

What the heck ? How did she get that ?

that’s a right result isn’t it

One came home for 6 months, and the other came home for for 2 years.

Daisymay2 · 12/04/2025 22:27

One did, and stayed while he did ACA qualification then moved out when he got a decent pay rise. Other one still lives in Uni town.
I had glandular fever in my final year at Uni, so went home until i started my by grad job, DH went straight into his job.

I suspect this was rather a long time ago...

HowardTJMoon · 12/04/2025 22:31

DD came back for a couple of months but it was only ever going to be temporary as she had a grad job in the city she studied in and the commute would have been awful. DS came back for a year or two and worked locally before moving out to live with his partner.

Delphigirl · 12/04/2025 22:33

Neither of my two eldest have. Straight to London and jobs. Let’s see what dc 3 and 4 do. But they know that really I expect them not to come home - they graduate debt free thanks to me so I really expect them to stand on their own 2 feet afterwards.

MiffyMiffedOff · 12/04/2025 22:39

Yes a planned return after uni. Looked for summer internship in our home city rather than uni town. This led to graduate job. They are saving hard for a house deposit. Ds2 now at uni has the same plan.

CarpetKnees · 12/04/2025 23:05

DC1 - Yes
DC2 - yes
DC3 - is still at Uni, but hopes to.

herbalteabag · 12/04/2025 23:10

My son had a grad job starting two weeks after graduation so he didn't come home.

autisticbookworm · 12/04/2025 23:55

Eldest came back6m then rented for a year, went travelling for a year then lived at home for two years. Just bought her own house. Youngest came home and has been home a year.

Lallybroch · 12/04/2025 23:58

One did, one didn't

maltravers · 13/04/2025 00:02

Surely it depends in part on where you live? If you live in a small village and they want professional jobs they’re less likely to come back. If you live in a big city I suspect they’re more likely to live with you afterwards for a while, either way, because of the expense of renting.

charabang · 13/04/2025 19:09

One never came home. She got work, met her now husband and is raising her family about 45minutes drive from me in her university town. The other came home after graduation in 2024 and is living with me and working full time whilst hopefully saving for deposit on her own place.

BumbleBeegu · 13/04/2025 19:32

Neither of my two did. Both got jobs in different areas 🤷‍♀️

CharlotteSometimes1 · 13/04/2025 19:35

All 3 stayed in the same town they went to Uni in, one has come back after a couple of years.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 13/04/2025 19:38

My brother did, I didn't. I got married instead 😁

Blingismything · 13/04/2025 19:39

One did and one didn’t
