Has anyone used NMN supplements?

Just that really? And if so what was the effect? The claims seem a bit too good to be true

Never heard of it - what is it for?

Ciaroscuro · 10/04/2025 22:14

I have been taking it for a month, and actually reordered. Mid 50s, obese. I actually do have more energy. For example I usually for years have had to go for a nap for an hour when I get home from work. This last 4 days I have had one nap yesterday, after lunch out which was much bigger as a meal than usual for me, the other 3 days I haven't even thought I wish I could have one, just had absolutely no crash/slump. I have found myself looking forward to taking it and have not wanted to miss a dose, whereas I am often quite lackadaisical about these things (have multiple vitamin/collagen bottles with 5 taken and then I have petered out....)

You do have to be careful as I believe that not all of the supplements actually have much NMN in.

lostinthoughts · 10/04/2025 22:17

Would love to know more about this too if anyone else has anecdotal experience

Huckleberries · 10/04/2025 22:17

Yes, and I can't really remember why 😂

I think it was to help with heavy weight training and general energy levels and sleep. Also, I was thinking about trying long-distance running but then I rejected that idea.

I found they upset my stomach. I did sleep better and I was probably a bit more energetic. But then I realised that actually as long as I have a green juice every day I'm pretty energetic anyway.

I returned them because I bought from a place that does a money back guarantee and after a couple of weeks of upset stomach it just wasn't worth it. I think I fell for some hype around it.

I ended up doing harder workouts anyway, and I found that the first couple of times were really tough but after that, it just became normal.

QueenOfHiraeth · 10/04/2025 22:26

I'm 65 and have taken it for a couple of months - still waiting to wake up and feel ten years younger! I'm a bit of a sceptic, I watch people who take something for a week or two and claim they feel amazing as I'm sure most of it is placebo effect, but I'm going to carry on for a while yet and hope.
Whether it is related or not I don't know but my hairdresser said, at my last appointment, that my hair is better than she has ever known it before (I've gone to her for over 10 years) so I'm just waiting for the rest of me to catch up Grin

Huckleberries · 10/04/2025 22:29

@QueenOfHiraeth they do advertise about the hair as well

Unfortunately, I couldn't take it long enough to see.

MarkingBad · 10/04/2025 22:55

I've taken them for 8 months. It depends on where you get them from as to the efficacy not all suppliments are equal.

I'm still naturally energetic but felt I needed some support. My skin and hair started to look and feel so much softer after a couple of months. Lots more energy even though I didn't feel I needed it and generally felt better in myself, i.e. fewer aches.

Thing is with suppliments is not everyone benefits in the same way so while I can sit here and write about my experiences it might not be the same for you.

None of thesre things work straight away, it does take around 2 months to start feeling the benefits properly

Lazykitten · 10/04/2025 23:03

I'm mainly looking at it for the energy boost, I'm really struggling in the afternoons. Then if I get any of the extra benefits so much the better!

@MarkingBad @Ciaroscuro You've both mentioned that not all NMN is good. Any idea how you'd check a particular brand?
I can't swallow capsules or gels unless they are small size so have sublingual lozenges but no idea how to tell if they are good or not

The ingredients list should help, a lot of suppliments can have a lot of fillers, the amount of the suppliment contained and the dosage is important and the reputation of that business too if you buy online.

Sadly my supplier probably wouldn't do for you as they are normal sized capsules

Divebar2021 · 10/04/2025 23:56

I’ve been taking them for about 2 or 3 months. I’m not sure actually if they’re helping me because like a moron I started a couple of other supplements around the same time. ( Collagen and magnesium). I asked ChatGPT to compile a list of suppliers.

PrettayGood · 11/04/2025 22:43

I’m about to start my 3rd month. I’m a flibbertigibbet about supplements, so this is a commitment for me.

I am feeling very good and sleeping very well. Like others report, it seems to be reversing my grey hair! I keep looking in a magnifying mirror at my roots and the dark hairs seem to be outnumbering the grey ones. My skin is good anyway, but I have had no rosacea flareups since I started.

I wasn't going to mention it because it sounds bizarre but a white hair was annoying me the other day, kept dancing in front of my face. These white hairs are course and thick. I pulled it out and while holding the end saw the rest of the shaft from around half way up was much finer and dark red, i.e. my normal hair and colour.

I don't dye my hair but I definitely have fewer white hairs now than I did a few months ago.

ETA it might not be a weird thing to have white hair turn back to normal colour but I've not noticed it before and I did wonder if it was the NMN

I've had 3 months delivered today. Will let you know hiw I get on!

I hope it works for you

ZingyRedLion · 24/04/2025 06:28

I've been taking it for about 7 months, love it too. I wouldn't say I feel ten years younger like other have but after a couple of weeks you just feel "good" more of the time. I don't think I'd trust a load of the ones on Amazon tbh. I use https://healthspanformulas.co.uk/products/nmn-supplement and will prob stick with it as its working, but there are a few out there.😊

Hi @PrettayGood and @MarkingBad ,
Thanks for the info on darkening hair and energy improvement, which brand/mg do you guys you take and how much dosage a day please? Thanks

BlueEyedBogWitch · 26/04/2025 08:22

I’ve been taking it for about three months. In that three months:

  1. My frozen shoulder has gone.
  2. My menopausal thinning hair has grown back, and not just on my temples Blush
  3. My hair colour has revitalised. I’m not joking. I’m back to my natural colour for the first time in decades.
  4. My sleep has improved.

Now, I’m not saying it’s the NMN that has caused the above. On the other hand, I won’t be stopping taking them any time soon!

Vettrianofan · 26/04/2025 09:06

DH uses NMN and claims he is less tired. Has been using it for at least 3 months now. I am not convinced but he is buying more as he feels it's helping him.

ZingyRedLion · 26/04/2025 10:49

Mines from https://healthspanformulas.co.uk

British supplements one seems very highly dosed in one capsule, personally I'd rather have more capsules in a dose that's in line with the studies. You can always add more, but you can't take it away.
