What would you serve with pulled pork?

I was thinking brioche buns, coleslaw, salad, but I need other ideas because it seems a bit dull. 😊

Would like some simple pudding ideas too please, but nothing with meringue. Thanks.

Flatbreads, coleslaw, gherkins, bbq sauce and a green leafy salad.

MrsBungle · 09/04/2025 21:33

I usually do the same as you. Sometimes with sweet potato fries.

Hatty65 · 09/04/2025 21:34

Baked potatoes probably

PaintDecisions · 09/04/2025 21:34

Mash, sweetcorn (on the cob is best), coleslaw. Plenty of sauce in the meat.

Or on top of a cheese burger.

Ooh I don't want to derail OP but what sort of pork are you using? It's on my list for the weekend but I'm using an old recipe and I can't remember what I used to use when I wrote it down

autumn1610 · 09/04/2025 21:34

Mac and cheese, and coleslaw is my go to

LittleFiendSusan · 09/04/2025 21:35

Pudding for me would be a homemade fruit salad which must have passionfruit in, pouring cream and nice little biscuits.

LittleLabrador · 09/04/2025 21:35

I love pulled pork. My favourite is serving it with bbq sauce in a bap. Also like it with a roast dinner, with fajitas or on top of a burger if I want to be extra unhealthy

ForAzureSeal · 09/04/2025 21:35

flatbreads

pickled red onion or kimchi
chimichurri sauce (red or green)

mummysmagicmedicine · 09/04/2025 21:35

I don’t think your idea sounds dull at all!
Maybe make it a fancier salad rather than your basic tomato, lettuce etc.

Potato wedges always go down a treat! Sweet potato or regular!

Pudding ideas:
Apple pie/crumble
Make your own ice cream sundaes (depending on age range of guests maybe!)
hot chocolate fudge cake
cheesecake
tart (lemon, treacle etc)
tiramisu
cookies
sticky toffee pudding

@11811B Pulled pork is made with pork shoulder - you can cut a whole one up or just buy pork shoulder steaks, this is what I do as it cooks quicker.

Clevs · 09/04/2025 21:38

Jacket potato and coleslaw.

Cupcakegirl13 · 09/04/2025 21:38

Brioche buns , stuffing , apple sauce & fried onions , wedges , corn on the cob & coleslaw
Eton mess or a cheesecake for pud !

DancingDucks · 09/04/2025 21:42

I make it with pork shoulder. I love pulled pork. Love the idea of mac and cheese as a side! I also love sweet potato fries so they could be a winner, corn on the cob too.

More pulled pork?

Maybe with a side of pulled pork.

caringcarer · 09/04/2025 21:45

Jacket potato

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 09/04/2025 21:45

Pulled pork fajitas are amazing if you have leftovers. We usually do the biggest pork shoulder we can get to make sure there's enough leftovers!

TheCurious0range · 09/04/2025 21:48

I love pulled pork, I like it in mini soft tacos, with pink pickled onions, salad, guacamole, home made salsa.
I cook it in the oven on low with ginger beer, chipotle or ancho chilli paste, garlic, paprika, cumin, etc
Or if I'm not going to be home in the slow cooker but you don't get the crispy bits

Kittkats · 09/04/2025 21:48

In a brioche bun with rocket, pink slaw, bbq sauce, apple sauce, gherkins and a slice of smoked cheese.
Or in a warm part baked baguette with butter and salad.

Normal buns not brioche and a good selection of salads, chutneys and cheese as an alternative filling to the pork for anyone who doesn't like it.

Blarn · 09/04/2025 21:52

Depends on how I feel. I either cook it with sage and bay leaves and a splash of cider and serve with mash or bread rolls, apple sauce and veg like a roast Or cook with some garlic cloves, jerk/bbq/chipotle and serve with rice, black beans, fried peppers and onions, sweet potato mash.

For pudding I'd want something with no stodge like ice cream, tiramisu, chocolate mousse.
