I found a shopping list

HowDoYouSpellThat · 09/04/2025 13:37

Found in a shopping basket at a Tesco Extra in South London. I'm assuming male, based on not very much at all.

So far I think I have deciphered:
Chicken
2 spuds
???
Bacon
Bangers?
Yorkies?
Mix veg steam?

Any other shopping list enthusiasts that care to make a guess?

ToBeOrNotToBee · 09/04/2025 13:47

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 09/04/2025 13:48

That third one is baffling.

TheGirlWhoLived · 09/04/2025 13:49

Maybe sliced pears?

Gundogday · 09/04/2025 13:50

Wonder if that yorkies chocolate or Yorkshire pudding?

is the third item in brackets? (Sliced …)

EarlofShrewsbury · 09/04/2025 13:50

Looks like chicken pies and pantry.

NewtonsCradle · 09/04/2025 13:54

Sliced ham?

Pabbel · 09/04/2025 13:55

Slices of bacon.

Jellifer · 09/04/2025 13:57

Could it be Coli (cauliflower) cheese?

Moschatelle · 09/04/2025 14:01

Chicken (breast) stuffed with sliced cheese then wrapped in bacon, roasted with potatoes and Yorkshire pudding, served with steamed mixed veg. Followed by banoffee pie (Banf on the fifth line).

Bluevelvetsofa · 09/04/2025 14:03

A type of chips?

Olika · 09/04/2025 14:05

Cauliflower

I think it's yorkshire puds. sounds like items for a roast dinner; chicken, spuds, mixed steam veg?
Bacon
Bangers?
Sliced Pears?
It's a very sad little list though, as someone else said😥
They're possibly old and alone (just two spuds)

sixtyandfabulousofcourse · 09/04/2025 14:07

Paganpentacle · 09/04/2025 14:14

Thats an elderly persons writing.
Why have you felt the need to post it on here?

Saltedcarameltiramisucheesecake · 09/04/2025 14:20

That's a plan for a Sunday roast, surely?

It’s a classic Mumsnet pastime.

Agree it’s sad/humble. Not the right words. Melancholy. I dunno. Maybe they’re happy / not sad being alone!

This 😞
Are we supposed to laugh at it? What's the point of deciphering it? What does it matter?

It just an old Mumsnet game. You're just supposed to chat about it, decipher handwriting and think about what they could be making and the writers life. Increasingly rare because I think most people just write their shopping lists on their phone now.

Ariela · 09/04/2025 14:28

Bakery?

Why would we be meant to laugh at it? Nothing in the post suggests that. It’s just a nice thing. It’s a human thing. It’s a glimpse into someone’s life, our sameness and our differences. It’s okay!
