I don’t think being middle class is an achievement. I think I am born into it and with it came certain privileges. You are the fool not to be aware of the privileges which comes with being born into a certain class.

Wow I'm raging tonight guys no idea why. Sorry I do like this thread and thank the posters who have engaged. I'm going to be honest this thread has trigged me. :) 😀 I hate when people try to bully other people because they think they own a social class it's just infuriating.

I completely agree that class (if you’re bothered about it) is about far more than money or even job.

i was brought up in a solidly middle class family, headteacher parents, had a pony. I went to university and got a degree and then spent years doing manual labour. Literally tarmacking roads. I don’t think my class changed then just because of my job. I still had the same background and more money than my friends doing entry level office stuff.

I now work as a university lecturer. Again i don’t believe my class changed as I changed job. I have colleagues who are middle class and colleagues who I’d say are working class. We are all doing the same job and are all highly educated.

I was initially replying to the person who tried to shame the op by saying she hadn't ach8ved middle class levels. So I'm calling that bullshit by presenting the exact definitions that's all.
