I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The kittens have had their breakfast & are now watching birds out of the kitchen window.

We're all up early because we're off to one of dd1's 18th birthday year of gigs, gigs 🎶 tonight. It's in Leeds & she's been following the queue pics people have posted online so decided we need to queue for a decent spot 🙄. We're getting the 11:30 ish train, then stopping off for dinner, then walking to the Stylus so it'll be about 2 ish when we get there I think. We don't usually leave til then!

Showers & make up all round before we do anything else...maybe I'll have a nap while my moisturiser sinks in 🤔

Last train back 💤💤 and straight to bed for me!

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning @lucysmamand all happy Saturday.
Just on my way to Parkrun then will have breakfast with my brother. I’m off on holiday next weekend so need to pick up a couple of things for that. I’m hoping to see a film later. I haven’t been to the cinema since February so having major withdrawal symptoms as I usually go a few times a month.
Pasta bake and Greek salad for dinner later and a lazy evening on the sofa.
Enjoy your day everyone.

TheGirlWhoLived · 05/04/2025 08:12

Earlier start for us today as I’ve got work a couple of hours early to cover a friend. Made packed lunches for the kids as mum is going to hold down the fort until I’m back around 4…Then I’ll probably watch the grand national and finish making a sock monkey with dd2.

Dd1 is off into town after gymnastics coaching and ds wants to make a Lego aquarium, we have a Lego dolphin so will have to just build something blue and hope it passes the test! He’s 4 so this shouldn’t be too difficult 🤣

Dinner is going to be a chilli I think, or perhaps burritos I want to get some tortilla chips to make some quick nachos to go with it as the guacamole is already made!

Crunchymum · 05/04/2025 08:16

Sounds likes a lovely (albeit) tiring day lucysmam - enjoy!

Looks like another glorious spring day here, was 20c yesterday.

I only have 2 out of 3 DC here as middle one had a sleep over last night.

We're heading for swimming lessons soon, then changing our library books and will have a run around the park for an hour before home for lunch.

DP is doing some DIY today but he'll down tools for the football at lunchtime.

DC1 is heading to a sleepover at 5pm and I'm picking DC2 and her friend up from a party and her friend will stay with us tonight. If they are hungry after the party I'll take them to Nandos. Not sure they'll eat much at the party? DC3 will tag along too.

Probably a late night as I'll have two overexcited and oversugared 10 year old girls. They can have the main TV and I'll make some popcorn and make fruit kebabs for them. We'll watch film in bed later and leave them to it.

soccermum10 · 05/04/2025 08:17

Morning,
I'm having a nice lazy chilled day today. The sun has disappeared here.

We have DS2s last football game of the season tomorrow morning and then we're off to a gig in the afternoon. So lots of chilling, Movies, music today 🙂

Kim82 · 05/04/2025 08:22

Good morning everyone. It’s a lovely, warm day here again so I’m hoping to get a few loads of washing hung outside today.

I’m just waiting for my Tesco delivery then will get showered and dressed to go into town with dd10 and get our nails done and pick up a present for her friend’ birthday party tomorrow.

Back home to give the house a once over then DD’s school friend is coming round for a sleepover. The girls (including dd17 no doubt) want McDonalds for tea, I don’t fancy it at all so might pick a fresh pizza up while I’m out this morning. This evening dh is off to the pub and I plan on getting in my pjs, lighting a candle and finding something to watch with dd17 and a glass of wine before bed.

Nothanksiwillwalk · 05/04/2025 08:28

I am still lying in bed with a cup of tea, about to jump in the shower soon. Dh and I usually race around the house for 2 hours doing the boring housework but then it's done and the weekend is all mine.

Dh will take ds to his rugby match and I will probably walk the dog. I might nip to the charity shops later, I never used to go in them but have found some amazing finds and now it's a hobby. My last purchase was a £170 Rapha cycling jacket for £4!

The 4 children are teenagers so there will be dropping off/picking up duties through the day but this evening dh and I will be going for a walk and we will stop and have a glass of wine and a bite to eat.

My week days are crazy busy with a demanding and stressful job, I like to keep my weekends calm and chilled.

piscofrisco · 05/04/2025 08:31

Good morning @lucysmam and all. I am up early and have been out with the dogs enjoying the quiet and the sun. Later on I am helping out with lambing on the farm where I work. We had triplets yesterday and I imagine we have had some more born on the night watch so I’m excited to meet them when I get there.
Have a lovely Saturday all

VenusClapTrap · 05/04/2025 08:33

Good morning, that sounds like a fun day op. Leeds is a great city for gigs (or it certainly was thirty years ago anyway 😁).

I was up at the crack of dawn to dispatch the youngest on a two day Scouts hike. They have to find their way, pitch a tent, cook, etc, all on their own (well, in their group of four) so the mind absolutely boggles at how this will pan out. They’re all a bit clueless and used to having everything done for them. This will be SO good for them! I’d love to be a fly on the wall.

TranceNation · 05/04/2025 08:33

Dh is taking DS to his football game this morning. I'm gonna be taking a huge bag of CDs to the charity shop this morning. Been meaning to declutter those off for ages. Will do a bit of shopping on the way back and then I think we are heading to the beach for a stroll this afternoon as the weather is supposed to be 20 degrees here today.

Ontheproverbialball · 05/04/2025 08:36

My last purchase was a £170 Rapha cycling jacket for £4!

Bloody hell! Good find! The charity shops round here are much more on the ball than that! I saw several really nice outdoor jackets in one recently that I thought were £4 but it turns out they were £40! I looked them up online to see they were £160 -£200 new.

I’ve got some nice branded stuff, but you are looking at £30/£40 here (South wales) for quality branded in charity shops.

frozendaisy · 05/04/2025 08:38

Enjoy the music and young people @lucysmam

Just making a coffee with the Saturday paper

will do a later breakfast brunch when others up

aiming for some geography revision then spring walk to check out bluebell progress with teens

making falafel

don’t really know a chilled no pressure nothing planned day today

Ontheproverbialball · 05/04/2025 08:39

Taking eldest to a shop he wants to visit this morning, then making cake for youngest’s birthday do. Then his birthday do!

Tomorrow is various domestic sorting out and admin sorting out. Will have a run in the morning though.

Blarn · 05/04/2025 08:39

D&v is going round dd2s class. I woke in the night with stomach ache and the d part. So it's a lovely sunny say, dh is on nights and I have two dc asking what we are going to do today.

Leave mummy alone to feel sorry for herself and be quiet so we don't wake daddy is not not good answer apparently.

Iamthemoom · 05/04/2025 08:50

Morning all! Currently on the sofa with a cup of coffee and the oldest of our cats, waiting for DD to come down. Planning a lazy day in the garden with DD, reading, and listening to podcasts after a late one last night and maybe too many wines! It’s so lovely to wake up to this glorious sunshine again!

Zippedydodah · 05/04/2025 08:50

Good morning @lucysmam and followers, despite the bright sunshine here there’s a bitterly cold wind as ZDog1 and I found out earlier on our walk. We live on a hill and it’s pretty exposed whichever way you walk so the wind gets you!
ZDog1 didn’t mind but tiddler ZDog2 has a very fine coat so I will leave walking her until later, she’s happily snoozing in a patch of sunlight on an armchair at the moment.
I was vaguely considering swapping my winter and summer clothes over today, I know it’s Never cast a clout until May’s out’ but the weather is supposed to be warming Jupyter over the next couple of weeks.
Besides usual housework nothing much planned for the weekend 🌻

Thislittlekitten · 05/04/2025 08:55

Morning all

Last full day on holiday before we fly home tomorrow. It’s been good. Though I’ve been plagued with a sore throat. Slowly getting better.

Up soon for tea and toast and a very relaxing pool day. Still have packing to do. Plan is for a nice tea out.

Giggorata · 05/04/2025 09:00

Good morning lucysmam and all.
I am still in bed, finishing my book and awaiting tea and pills.
DH has taken the dogs out and is picking up some eggs from a neighbour.
Housework and laundry will follow, and brunch will be scrambled egg, black pudding and bacon.
Then we're going to do some planting and potting in the garden, following an afternoon at the garden centre yesterday.
I have two large pots from Freecycle for Jerusalem artichokes and have bought one of those stacking pots so that I can start off some new herbs in a small footprint.
My huge rosemary bush died over winter but won't be wasted, as I am going to break it up as an aromatic addition to our ritual fires and will take it to the coven meet this evening, along with a pizza.
I'm conducting a wedding later this afternoon, so will need to do some actual ironing, not just smoothing and folding.
If there's any time left, I'll keep an eye on the snooker semi final, otherwise I'll catch up online in the early hours.

laddersandsnakes12 · 05/04/2025 09:02

Just had a coffee and waiting for some croissants to heat up in the oven. The weather is gorgeous where we are right now (France) so I’ve opened the windows and we’ll have breakfast out in the garden. Food shopping is coming in a little while too. Then after lunch, we’re heading to a kids Easter party/egg hunt event. Once that’s over, we’ve booked a table at an Indian restaurant for dinner and can’t wait, haven’t had a curry for ages! Once home we’ll probably put Gladiators on, then bed. A nice Saturday making the most of the freakishly summer like weather!

Judellie · 05/04/2025 09:03

Good morning everyone
I love these threads.
I've come down for a hot drink as been fighting off a cold for days; unfortuantely the local shops seemed to be out of Beechams and I've found lemsip doesn't work as well so I'm trying the Tesco version.
Had a joint 18th/21st birthday party for DS and DD last night so they are still in bed. We left everything in the car last night so we'l be opening presents today when they surface.
DH has gone ot LocoMotion at Shildon with his friend and I am debating whether to get dressed or return to bed after my lemon drink.

Wakemeupbe4yougogo · 05/04/2025 09:04

Older dog woke me at 5.30 thinking it was time to get up Hmm so I already feel like it's midday. Having a very enjoyable mug of coffee and watching dogs mooch round the garden while waiting for DD3 to come home with her crazy puppy for a long walk like we do most weekends. Sun's out, happy days.

Fairyvocals · 05/04/2025 09:05

Morning, all!
Beautiful day here in London. I’m still in bed, drinking coffee. DP is negotiating with DD over screens. I’d better get up in a minute and deal with the first of many loads of washing.
When DD’s carers get here, DP and I will head out to our local cafe and plan our hours of freedom - not sure what we’ll do yet. So many possibilities on a day like this!
Later this afternoon, we’re going to dig out a couple of bushes, including one very thorny one, and plant our new cherry bush in their place. I’m looking forward to getting shot of the thorny one as DD’s always getting scratched.
Not sure what this evening will bring - we keep meaning to get started on The White Lotus but falling asleep instead!
Have lovely days, everybody!

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 05/04/2025 09:07

I'm sitting on the sofa with yet another coffee feeling absolutely knackered! I've been awake since 4am when DS came home from a night out and I just could not get back to sleep... 🥱

However I'm going to pick myself up and go shopping - hoping the shops now have holiday clothes in 🤞 We go away in a few weeks and I'm sick of wearing the same things I dig out every summer and have worn for the last 10 years!

No idea what we'll have to eat later, I might have to pick up some ready meals from M&S to eat while watching Gladiators 😁

boymama82 · 05/04/2025 09:08

It's kids party season and our 3 and 4 year old boys have 2 today! One at 11am and one at 5pm

DanceToTheMusicInMyHead · 05/04/2025 09:10

Kids were out at a disco till late, and have requested a lazy day. I imagine a lot of TV will be watched! DH and I are in the middle of decorating the dining room, so today will be prepping walls and woodwork. I have a pack of mince in the freezer. Was going to make chilli but everyone else moaned at that suggestion so will need to rethink.

Simonjt · 05/04/2025 09:13

Have a great night @lucysmam at least the good weather means you can sit down queue to save your back and legs.

I’m in Manchester this morning, the weathers great, I was at a gig last night with some friends, it was in a venue I haven’t been before, factory international, it was a really lovely hall, this morning we’re heading back to London before another date in Bristol, and then back to London for the last and then I’ll be off home. I’ve been away since Wednesday, this will be the longest I’ve ever been away from the kids, so I’m looking forward to getting home. They called this morning to tell me the cat had been sick all over the bed, I didn’t miss that quite so much.

When we get to London we’re having a nap, going out for a late lunch and then we’ll probably continue having a lazy day before setting off for Bristol tomorrow.
