I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The kittens have had their breakfast & are now watching birds out of the kitchen window.

We're all up early because we're off to one of dd1's 18th birthday year of gigs, gigs 🎶 tonight. It's in Leeds & she's been following the queue pics people have posted online so decided we need to queue for a decent spot 🙄. We're getting the 11:30 ish train, then stopping off for dinner, then walking to the Stylus so it'll be about 2 ish when we get there I think. We don't usually leave til then!

Showers & make up all round before we do anything else...maybe I'll have a nap while my moisturiser sinks in 🤔

Last train back 💤💤 and straight to bed for me!

What about all of you? 🙂

Mornings @lucysmam and the Saturday gang.

Got up at 8 (early for me on a weekend), got dressed into clean pjs for the day. I'm not going out anywhere and I love a pj day but can't wear the ones I've slept in. Now having a coffee on the sofa while DW is out walking the dogs. We've got hot cross buns for breakfast when she's back. I'm at the end of a horrible period so very glad to be having a rare day at home with nowhere to go, no jobs to do etc.

I intend on gardening most of the afternoon after a lazy morning- think I'll read my book til lunchtime (Fourth Wing- very good so far) as it's too cold to garden in the morning (Scotland, sunny but freezing as usual). I've bought a load of seeds and will stick them in pots and fill up my windowsills and see what makes it- I know nothing about gardening but I do this every year and things tend to come out ok. However it is my first year in Scotland from the SW so I don't know if everything will survive like it did down South. Guess we'll see!

Am currently in hospital and for some inexplicable reason the nurse came to take my stats at 1:30 AM. Have no idea why as they don’t usually. But for someone who is an insomniac that just started the day for me.

So no idea what it holds really. Have been in here now for 8 weeks and there’s currently no end in sight, so it pays not to dwell on how little there is to do…

DoNoTakeNo · 05/04/2025 09:20

Beautiful weather everywhere today I think, an absolute classic spring day!
Laundry load is on the line now, so I’m feeling temporarily virtuous 😇
Am hoping to have a gentle day after the usual busy week, tbh, hopefully with some time in the sunshine. Will be seeing elderly parents too.

PiastriThePastry · 05/04/2025 09:25

Morning! Hope you have a lovely day with your daughter.

Slow start here. My daughter is (not quite) 4 weeks old and is still of the opinion that being put down is something she’s entirely uninterested in therefore I have a proper little limpet at all times, so I’m sat on the patio with a coffee watching my three year old son launch himself off/around his new climbing frame. It’s absolutely huge, thank goodness we have the space, and I’m hoping he’ll get lots of joy from it. Only paid £75, Facebook marketplace bargain, very grateful for a handy husband and a workman who is always happy to ‘diversify’ from his actual job of driving tractors, this time to dismantle and rebuild a climbing frame 😂
No one got much sleep last night, apart from the three year old, and DH is at work today, so I’m not sure what to do with myself today. I’m too tired to commit to much but equally I don’t want to just stay home all day. Might go to my mums, leave her with the kids and go for a peaceful bath 😂

Good morning from North Cumbria. I absolutely love this thread, the main theme is people littering about doing stuff they love.

Our 4 year old granddaughter lives with us so it will be a day of going to the park and riding her bike.
I'm making a booked rug which is nearly finished so I can hopefully get that done later.
I want to tidy the front garden but not sure that will get done today. Easter holidaying just started and caring for a young child at the age of 60 during holidays an be hard so we need to have things planned to get us out of the house on most days.
Tonight will be something rubbish on telly before bed.

Have a great day everyone..

Whattheduck · 05/04/2025 09:38

Morning all just had my first coffee and a yogurt with fruit
Just put a wash on and emptied the bins
Dh is going to see a band so leaving at lunchtime
Dd is home from university but is going back to her house today with her boyfriend as they are going to Harry Potter world tomorrow and it’s near to where she lives
Going to have a day doing a few jobs then catch up with some tv programs I’ve recorded
Will take the dog out for a walk at some point
Probably have a jacket potato for tea with cheese and salad
Have a lovely day everyone

Thinking about food for today and just realised something: I don’t really like pine nuts all that much. I mean they’re okay. Just not crazy about them. Been eating them without thinking about it for around 30 years.
Well, that is all the self discovery I have energy for this weekend

Chelsea26 · 05/04/2025 09:59

Morning all!
I haven’t been on this thread for ages - it’s nice to see you all!

I’m up and dressed and sitting in the garden with a coffee waiting for our bedsheets to finish in the wash and be hung out to dry.

DP is out taking DSS Muy Thai and DSD to a Holi Picnic. He’ll return with DSS shortly and then need to go back for DSD later. In between times I have to drop DS2 at the cinema in town to meet his friends.

We had an impromptu BBQ last night with all the kids, MIL and my parents so lunch will be leftovers from that - DS1 has just had Cajun prawns for breakfast!
Later the six of us are going out for dinner for DSD’s birthday - it’s her choice so I imagine it will be Nando’s

Peridot1 · 05/04/2025 10:05

Good morning @lucysmam and the Saturday gang.

Love these threads.

I have been awake since before 5 although tried to get back to sleep. Gave up at 7 and got up. DH is hosting a parish council get together here this morning so I got stuff sorted for him for that. One of the attendees brought home made focaccia bread and another brought bacon so I didn’t need to do too much. There is only four of them.

I’m currently in the living room with a cup of tea and a focaccia bacon sandwich waiting for them to finish and then DH can clean up.

Might do some gardening later - I need to empty pots of dead stuff from last year ready for a garden centre trip. I also want to re-jig some beds along the patio so need to think about that.

Lazy day otherwise. I might nip into a local town as I spotted a nice painting in the window of a charity shop yesterday and might get it. Or there is a vintage and craft fair in a local village I might go to.

Or I might just do nothing!

Thai fried rice for dinner. And wine. And tv and an early night I think.

DilemmaDelilah · 05/04/2025 10:42

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone! I had about 3 hours sleep last night so I had an early breakfast and went back to sleep. I've just had a shower and now feel clean and refreshed.

I had my covid booster yesterday so I'm prepared to feel a bit under the weather, but I'm OK at the moment. Mr Dilemma had his on Thursday and apparently his arm really hurts and he feels very weak 🙄. At least that's how he felt yesterday....

It is a beautiful sunny morning here in Devon, with temperatures expected to reach 20 degrees. I would love to sit in the sun but I'm on yet another round of antibiotics, Doxycycline this time, and have been told I must keep out of the sun. As my other meds can also cause sun sensitivity and I am generally quite sensitive to the sun anyway, I'm taking that seriously.

The sunshine is, however, making me feel good. Our daffodils lining the drive (posh name for the little bit of road leading to the parking bit we share with 2 neighbours) are now out, the furry buds have appeared on the willow outside my office window, and one of my neighbours is keeping me updated with photos of the birds he can see from his front window. The latest was a goldcrest. We have loads of birds which visit our garden but I haven't seen a goldcrest there.

The only plans we have today are to visit Morrison's to pick up a couple of Too Good To Go bags... 1 bakery and 1 cafe before anyone thinks we are being greedy! Then I have planned to drop in on my local daughter with a bag of stuff she said she wanted when we sorted out the shed, and anything we don't want from our TGTG bags. Rainbow sprinkle yum yums or lemon and raspberry swirls anyone? We got those in previous bags and put them in the freezer, together with some pain au chocolat. My grandsons will like them but we don't want them and they are taking up space in the freezer. Mr Dilemma isn't aware of this part of the plan yet.

Talking of the freezer - we do have to do a bit of rearranging either today or tomorrow. I have a butchers order arriving on Wednesday and a grocery delivery arriving on Thursday. The meat will arrive frozen and there will be a few things (not much) in the groceries that need freezing. I will ask Mr Dilemma if he would rather do it today or tomorrow. It's a bit like getting a toddler to do something sometimes! I have to give him a choice so that he thinks it is his own idea 😁

RabbitsRock · 05/04/2025 11:09

Good morning folks - hope you all have a great day @lucysmam! I felt really poorly yesterday & had to cancel my evening plans. Still not 100% today & postponed lunch with a friend I haven’t seen for ages. If I feel up to it, I’ll pop to Asda later as we need a few bits including a pizza for me (DH already has one that I bought from Tescos in the week). Visiting DM this afternoon as I don’t have anything contagious. Hoping DD16 will come with me. Fed the bunnies this morning & let 2 of them out. Unloaded & loaded the dishwasher. There’s not enough in the washing machine for a load to go on yet. Sooooo sleepy! Think I’ll make a 2nd cuppa.

Topsy44 · 05/04/2025 11:41

Good morning Lucysmam and All,

Having a really lazy day today! First day of school holidays for DD and we’re both totally shattered. I am working next week but then have the following week off and we are going to Barcelona for a few days so may spend some of today perusing city break clothes😀.

Have lovely Saturdays all!

mamaduckbone · 05/04/2025 11:42

Morning @lucysmam and all - that sounds like a fun day!
I was up early for my Saturday run and chat, and we're now in the car taking ds up to visit his gf at uni and having a day out in her uni town.
He arrived home for the Easter hols last night. I don't realise how much I miss him until he comes home, so looking forward to spending some time together.

gingercat02 · 05/04/2025 13:00

I have literally done nothing today. DH is slightly hungover from a work night out, DS is having a quiet weekend as he is feeling a bit under the weather and it's still another week until the Easter hols.
I have put a load of washing on and will do some gardening after lunch but that's about it!

SparklyBrickViper · 05/04/2025 13:17

Long lie in, as I’m feeling dreadful.

Once I dragged myself out of bed I potted on some sweet peas, sunflowers and some chilli seeds. Also got some courgettes and radish started.

lucysmam · 05/04/2025 14:25

@gingercat02 still!? Crikey! We've had a week already & dd1 broke up on Friday.

OP posts:
gingercat02 · 05/04/2025 16:25

They have the 2 weeks either side of Easter regardless of the date @lucysmam
He's finding A levels quite a slog, so can't come soon enough

Taytocrisps · 05/04/2025 16:47

Hi @lucysmam, hope you all enjoy the gig. I was up early to drop DD to work. Then I went for breakfast and made my shopping list. Did a bit of window shopping as I have a wedding coming up and I'm looking for a dress. I might go back with DD and get her opinion. I ordered two plant pot stands for my dining room. Then did my boring grocery shop. When I got home, I cleared out a very cluttered press - it looks amazing now. I need to blitz my fridge in a minute. The weather has been fab. all day. Hope it continues tomorrow and then I might get some laundry done and dried outside.

MoreIcedLattePlease · 05/04/2025 17:11

Good afternoon! I hope you're enjoying your queue time, and the gig is worth it!

I've taken DD to riding this morning, whilst DH and DS1 went to the tip and then to B&Q to get paint for DS1's bedroom and frog tape, so we can paint that and the living/dining room over the Easter holidays.

DS2 has been holed up in his room beginning his recovery from a busy term (he has ASD and, although he is in special school and loves it, finds it very taxing just to go every day).

DH kindly took my car to get it cleaned for me too, which was sweet of him. Now we've been sat in the living room just chatting, catching up (both work full time so time is limited in the week) and doing crosswords. DS1 has gone out for a walk with friends. DD and DS2 in their rooms.

I am going out for dinner with a friend this evening, so will go and get changed shortly and DH has offered to drive me there and pick me up so I can have a couple of drinks. He and the kids will have an easy dinner at home and watch Gladiators, which is their guilty pleasure.

Tomorrow we've decided to have a lazy morning, then head down to the seafront for a walk with the dog and possibly nip into the arcades and get ice cream.

Hoping everyone has a peaceful/enjoyable weekend!
