I love a bit of woo so been listening to Nostradamus predictions book and wow

From 2032 we are all up shits creek if he is right

I'm glad I'm 54 but now I'm going to encourage kids to live In the Countryside and grow their own food.

Famine
Extreme floods
Another brutal pandemic
And nuclear war in the years upto 2080

A jolly time !

Anyone into this?

Nope because I’m sane.

springintoaction321 · 04/04/2025 08:10

Hehe

I think the Shit Show has already started!!

See climate change/global warming. Also Trump's shennigans on world trade. Wars in Gaza/Ukraine/Sudan etc...

springintoaction321 · 04/04/2025 08:11

@HeBeaverandSheBeaver yes - glad to be 61 now - but do worry for next generation. It's not going to be pretty.

Nostradamus! Takes me back to 1975. We were teenagers and a girl got a Nostradamus book. We all got into reading the "predictions", it became quite a fad. Usually in those days it meant the Cold War getting hot, and a shortage of oil meaning no-one could get petrol.
Basically, you can read into it what you like.
Sadly, there have always been wars, famines and epidemics. They will continue.
(Although I hope a nuclear war can be avoided).

SwanOfThoseThings · 04/04/2025 08:23

Nostradamus wrote a series of vague allegorical predictions which have later been matched, with varying degrees of looseness, to world events over a very long period of time; ergo people say he had psychic powers.

No. It's confirmation bias.

If you sat down and wrote a series of allegories today, it would be surprising if some of them weren't able to be matched to world events over the next 1000 years or so.

SwanOfThoseThings · 04/04/2025 08:25

And I bet no edition of Nostradamus's predictions published pre-2020 says 'In 2020 we are going to have a global pandemic'.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 04/04/2025 08:30

Yes true. Some are very loose but some are spot on dates wise.

I dunno I don't really believe in him as such but I do believe in time not being linear as we understand it so 🤯

OP posts:
Cathandkin · 04/04/2025 08:31

Nothing is "spot on". It's just that you read some verses and you can link them to events.

BlondeMummyto1 · 04/04/2025 08:32

There’s already people starting. Food crops are low.
There is more flooding than ever already.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 04/04/2025 08:32

He says China and the US will be the two superpowers and China will
Match US in a few decades. I can see that's going to be true.

Nostradamus practically defines retrofitting!

Can you identify the passage, please?

He was writing in the mid 16th Century. There was no USA.
Most people could tell you that the 2 big superpowers now are the USA and China, with China in ascendancy.

Yes, he did - just before he went on to say that the iPhone 23 would be the last one ever, and that Jedward would be spoken of reverently by future generations long after Shakespeare had been forgotten.

That is an excellent term!

How right he was.

Doitrightnow · 04/04/2025 08:37

Well famine and flooding I can believe is coming whatever Nostradamus says. I don't think it's a big stretch of the imagination to believe war is coming either.

I have heard predictions (not from woo sources) that there will be another global Great Depression in the 30s. I can belive that too.

Liondoesntsleepatnight · 04/04/2025 08:38

OP look back at history, pandemics happen. Every hundred years or so - not new

Wars happen - not new

Grow your own food if concerned

The Global Bee population is ok

Im 50, we were told in primary school that fossil fuels would run out in 30 years - they haven’t

put the book down - go for a walk

iseenyouwithkefir · 04/04/2025 08:42

How did Nostradamus predict nuclear war, given that he died in the mid-sixteenth century, long before such technology existed?

The other stuff - famine, plague, floods - seems pretty routine although it would be unusual if he's saying these phenomena will occur all at once on a global scale.

Yes and people are having fun with how ridiculous it is that people have hung on to these types of people over the centuries (he isnt the only one)

Way to make a name for yourself

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 04/04/2025 08:45

He doesn't name nuclear war. But he will say things like the silver arrow will
Move a mountain the sun will not shine for next two years and ground is barren and black and a great famine etc

So that's interpreted by those that studied classical French. Not me. I'm not a classical scholar
