HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 04/04/2025 08:08

I love a bit of woo so been listening to Nostradamus predictions book and wow

From 2032 we are all up shits creek if he is right

I'm glad I'm 54 but now I'm going to encourage kids to live In the Countryside and grow their own food.

Famine
Extreme floods
Another brutal pandemic
And nuclear war in the years upto 2080

A jolly time !

Anyone into this?

He doesn't name nuclear war. But he will say things like the silver arrow will
Move a mountain the sun will not shine for next two years and ground is barren and black and a great famine etc

So that's interpreted by those that studied classical French. Not me. I'm not a classical scholar

Yes all those things happened before his predictions too. Famine, war, superpowers, pandemics all existed prior to him too.

Cathandkin · 04/04/2025 08:47

It's an interpretation. That's all. Some fairly oblique verses which could mean anything, really! Of course there will be a depression, war, flooding, famines etc. that's human history.

Regardless of what’s happening, or might happen, it shouldn’t be a distraction from preparing for the effects of climate change, building community, diplomacy etc.

And human future, thats what happens

Theres nothing specific about this period in time that hasnt already occured in times previously

It makes no sense when people say they're worried about the next generation or its all downhill from here.

I wonder how these people would have lived through plague, the war of the roses, the commonwealth, Bloody Mary, the KGB in Russia (or even now)

We live the life of Riley compared to some poor serf who's had his hands chopped off for picking an apple off the floor

He says China and the US will be the two superpowers and China will
Match US in a few decades. I can see that's going to be true.

Have you forgotten about Russia?

SwanOfThoseThings · 04/04/2025 09:01

the sun will not shine for next two years

Was he predicting that everyone would move to Yorkshire?

BatchCookBabe · 04/04/2025 09:03

He has got quite a few predictions right, but not all, and some things were pretty much obvious/natural occurrences.

We'll be fine. Smile

User14March · 04/04/2025 09:08

The most interesting thing about him was he spoke about the rise of ‘Hisler’.

TheBuffetInspector · 04/04/2025 09:16

It's a good job I've got my potatoes in the soil then.

They last an awfully long time in a small dark place. My neighbours will be begging for some peel in 2032.
They're not having any.

She called me a silly cow last summer!
Tell me something I don't know, Carol 🤣

His verses are so wooly they could mean anything. That could equally be a volcano erupting, similar to 1815.

People read into them what they want. It makes them feel big that they 'understand' and all you sheeple around them don't. (Emperor's New Clothes, anyone?) It's just the forerunner of conspiracy theories.

IfYouPutASausageInItItsNotAViennetta · 04/04/2025 09:29

If I could use a time machine, I'd go back 500 years and rename myself Nostradaibu.

I'd make all kinds of astonishing predictions about what people on ye mysteriouse worldewide marketteplace would be rapt by in 500 years' time - latrine brushes, genital goblets, affray and vexation caused by ye huesbond's muther, wailing in the grand Italian cathedral, other-worldly giant chickens that would feed a family for six months, audacious folks not paying into the communal kitty at the local tavern and blocking thy path by abandoning their horse carriages right in front of the portcullis to thy domaine, and terrifyingly realistic tiny bear shapes fashioned from crisped potatoes.

Then I'd return to the modern day and see Mumsnet set alight with utter amazement and cries of "But hooooow could anybody possibly have known back then?!?!"

Not joking but a long time since I read pre internet. I thought there was ‘proof’ he named ‘Hitler’ albeit one letter out. A lucky guess…Off to google now.

However, the Nazis used fake quotations from Nostradamus in their propaganda leaflets, to promote the idea that Hitler was a saviour predicted to save Europe.

Cathandkin · 04/04/2025 14:51

BlondeMummyto1 · 04/04/2025 08:32

There’s already people starting. Food crops are low.
There is more flooding than ever already.

Nothing like the Bristol flood of 1606.

ShatParp · 04/04/2025 14:51

@IfYouPutASausageInItItsNotAViennetta GENITAL GOBLETS! 😂😂😂

Ohbellayoubigtwat · 04/04/2025 14:56

To be honest, I hope I go out in some apocalyptic style catastrophe with a sharpened shovel on my back.

Although, in the event of something nuclear, I live close enough to Birmingham, which would likely be a target, to get in he car and drive as fast as I can into the blast zone to get it over with quickly rather than surviving on looted baked beans while dying of radiation poisoning. Bring it on.

You could hide under all the tonnes of garbage.

User14March · 04/04/2025 14:57

@Cathandkin that makes sense, altho’ I read his name in negative context.

Yes, I'm guessing people would find a quatrain about someone like Hitler, and perhaps fit it.
I do think it's interesting that the Nazis tried to use it, though. They were fans of the occult.

It might be the only way to clean some parts of Birmingham up at this point.

😂
Did Nostradamus predict the Great Birmingham Bin Strike?
"In England's troubled land, fierce chieftains of the Publicke Sectore will indeed cease to remove the entrails and ashes from the Land.
Lo ye Brummyes be pissede off and rats devour the Land."

Apparently ‘Hister’ was used by him but Latin name for Danube (?) and wrong context & meaning later appropriated.
