Why is cancer so common now

I know 4 people all under 45 who died of cancer within the past three years. It's so so so so sad. They are just so so so young. I am just after hearing of another person with cancer all over her body.

.Why is cancer so common now and why is it taking people even young people?

It's so scary.

Also bad diagnostics - doctors not thinking a young person could have cancer so the diagnosis is too late. I lost a friend to cancer in their 40s.

Very true.

My son was 8 when he was diagnosed. No one expects an 8 year old to have cancer so it took a little while for it to go in that direction and he was incredibly ill at this point, I think it wouldn't have taken even longer otherwise.

First it was just a normal children's tummy bug, then it was gastroenteritis, then it was appendicitis and even when they eventually did an ultrasound and suspected a bowel obstruction, they reassured me that it was probably this or that and very unlikely to be cancer.

But it was and we were lucky that the delay to diagnosis didn't mean that it had spread but it did mean that he developed septic shock and he spent 7 weeks in PICU. He's thankfully in remission but his bowel may never be the same again.

But you could apply that logic to any of the theories on why it’s more common now.
Even micro plastics are in our water supply so everybody has them entering their bodies whether they try to avoid them or not.
And at some point in people’s lives most people have eaten processed foods and most people have eaten fruit and veg that have been sprayed with pesticides.

I don’t think you can. Nothing else is on us 24/7, being used multiple hours every day, a high % of the time we are awake. Everything else, particularly diet, you have some
people who do eat things and some who don’t. Everyone has a mobile

The credible link upthread outlining exponential rise cites Japan as an outlier & says poor diet key.

Ok, well obviously whatever you think is the cause is the only right answer.

If you read my posts you’ll see I haven’t suggested a cause and have pointed out the postwar suggesting causes don’t really know what they’re talking about. There is research into their area but even the scientists leading that are open (as per the links in this thread) that they don’t yet know the answer

No idea why it’s so common, but I wish it would fuck off to the moon. I’m almost 54 and had my first BC aged 38. I’m now on my 4th cancer and very fed up. Some people eat shit, drink etc and never need a doctor. It’s all down luck if you ask me!
