I’ve made up a piano/iguitar instrumental playlist of pop songs for my guests to wait on us. I’m thinking of the acoustic version of disclosure/sam smith “latch” by Cover Guru on Spotify. I’ve always loved that song (the original SS version) and I sent it to my partner as one of my fav songs when we were first speaking to one another. What’s your thoughts on that and what was your song?

I walked down to ”My father’s favourite” from the film Sense and Sensibility.

Beautiful. I think I would have shed a tear if I'd been a guest hearing this. It's so lovely.

dramalessllama · 02/04/2025 13:13

Brian Tyler's Formula One theme. I picked it. lol

Don’t know that song but ours was the theme from true romance.

Mine too!!!

It's completely gorgeous and is called 'you're so cool' which I really wanted on the order or service.

But my mum printed the orders of service herself and refused to use that title.....

Entrance - was tempted by Zadok but went with the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba.

Signing - slow movement of Bach's Harpischord concerto in Fm which is quite short and so segued into The Lark Ascending

Exit - Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary, becoming Bach's Prelude in B to see out the stragglers.

The music was played by friends and this did help our choices - its worth factoring in the type of music available in the building and the building itself as well as the style of ceremony. The harpsichord was recorded (no harpsichord in he church) but violinist, and trumpeter were able to play in person and of course the organist. We also had a lot of choral singers in the congregation which makes a difference to overall sound when choosing hymns.

DemonsandMosquitoes · 02/04/2025 15:07

Trumpet Voluntary (same as Lady Diana’s).

'Summer is a coming in', on the church organ, it was beautiful.

We had the theme song from gladiator

don’t laugh. It’s actually quite beautiful!

I really hope you mean the tv series and you ran down the aisle flexing your muscles… 😀

Do you feel the power of the Gladiator?
Do you have the will and the skill?
Do you have the speed, the strength
The heart to be a winner?
It's not for beginners
Deep down in your soul
Are you a Gladiator?
Gladiator

@Simplynotsimple - snap!!!

Did Book of Love too but Magnetic Fields version!

JazzTheDog · 02/04/2025 16:22

Going in (registry office) we had the proclaimers 'let's get married' and a little blast of queen 'don't stop me now'.

For signing the register and photos we had starship 'nothings gonna stop us now' and evanescence 'bring me to life'.

On the way out we had the proclaimers 'i'm on my way'.

Second marriage and we wanted some fun.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/04/2025 16:30

Very trad - Queen of Sheba in, Widor’s Toccata out. One of my DBs is a very good organist, he’s allowed to show off a bit at weddings.Grin

Are you me???

Both of these!

Me too. Still almost shed a tear listening after 35 years of being married to my best friend even though he irritates the fuck out of me sometimes.😀

Pinkywoo · 02/04/2025 17:33

We walked in together to More Than Words by Extreme, and signed the register to Baby I Love Your Way by Big Mountain!

Brilliant choice, although I would have probably chosen The Chain!

PyrannosaurusRex · 02/04/2025 22:00

Another traditionalist! In to Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, out to Widor’s Toccata - the church we married in has a spectacular, floor-vibratingly loud organ, and an old soloist friend did the honours. I’ll never forget how euphoric it made me feel, walking up, then down, the aisle to such transcendent music.

Circles2squares · 02/04/2025 23:54

Amazing. I’ve been working through listening to these songs. Rveived aome memories of my teenage years of some long forgotten songs. 💗

Had a beautiful singer and acoustic guitar player - walked in to Elvis's I can't help falling in in love with you and out to Ellie Goulding's how long will I Love you.

letskeepbusy27 · 03/04/2025 08:18

I got piped down the aisle to I’m gonna be (500 miles) by the Proclaimers. Loved it

NeedWineNow · 03/04/2025 08:24

Came in to The Trumpet Voluntary by Jeremiah Clarke, out to Widor’s Toccata. Very traditional church wedding.
