I’ve made up a piano/iguitar instrumental playlist of pop songs for my guests to wait on us. I’m thinking of the acoustic version of disclosure/sam smith “latch” by Cover Guru on Spotify. I’ve always loved that song (the original SS version) and I sent it to my partner as one of my fav songs when we were first speaking to one another. What’s your thoughts on that and what was your song?

Canon in D (Pachelbel's Canon)

DH wanted the Laurel and Hardy theme tune.

Tarkan · 02/04/2025 08:35

DH had the Hibs tartan for his kilt so we had a bit of a theme with that so all our main songs were Proclaimers ones.

I was meant to walk up the aisle to “Let’s Get Married” but the venue messed it up and played “Sunshine on Leith” which was meant to be our first dance song.

I can’t remember if we had any songs playing as we walked back down the aisle again though. We had made a short playlist of songs to be played while people were waiting and the venue ended up playing it over and over during the meal and before the DJ set up. If we had known they were going to do that we would have put more songs on it. I think it ran for around 45 minutes so even DH and I heard each song a few times and we had been away for an hour or two to have photos done.

Yes, it was @Freysimo.

We also had Nouvelle Vague - Teenage Kicks and Every Songbird Says by Sam Beam & Jessca Hoop during the service. Then Kiss Me, Sixpence None The Richer as we left the ceremony circle.

Our final choice wasn't so much a first dance (but became remembered as such because the floor cleared for us) was Sabotage by the Beastie Boys, learned by the band especially (and performed brilliantly). We went nuts and it really was the best part of a wonderful day :)

We walked out to A Thousand Years by Christina Perri, played by a string quartet.

I walked down the aisle to The Piano Guys version of this song, it’s beautiful.

We got married in a beautiful Manor House in Cornwall in late January amongst candlelight and the most beautiful winter flowers.
I walked down the 'Aisle' to All I Need by Air. During the service we chose songs from Bryan Ferry's As Time Goes By album including The Way You Look Tonight I'm In The Mood For Love and When Somebody Thinks You're Wonderful. Our exit song was I want To Stay With You by Hall and Oats.
We had the most magical day just the two of us,it was perfect!

We walked in to The First Time Ever I saw your Face by Johnny Cash and out to The Killers - All these Things That I have Done. We also had Coldplay -Fix You when signing the register.

Love them both still.

HoppingPavlova · 02/04/2025 11:08

ACDC highway to hell. Not even joking

Good on you. We had nothing as we couldn’t agree. I wanted Highway to Hell, could have compromised (begrudgingly) with Shook Me All Night Long or Back in Black. He wanted Imperial March from Star Wars. Neither of us were budging.

So, we came out in silence. Except, for us talking to each other with ‘are you happy, we could have had x, now we’ve got nothing’ back and forth. We got ready together and came out together, was not in a church or registry.

Anyway, we’ve been married for decades so lack of agreement on the song didn’t dictate the length of marriage 🤣. We did however have pretty much the same problem with kids names …… but again, still married for decades post kids so not that crucial seemingly.

Elderflower14 · 02/04/2025 11:09

I came into The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba and we left to Vidors Tocatta.
If I got married again tomorrow I would come in to One Day Like This by Elbow and leave to Racing In The Streets by The Boss.

HoppingPavlova · 02/04/2025 11:11

Did go to a wedding once where the wedding party came out came out one by one to their own song, which they got to pick and could be anything no restrictions. 3 bridesmaids, 3 best men, bride and groom. They thought it was novel, we all thought it was fucking torture. One guy came out to ‘I’m Too Sexy’ by I Said Fred or whoever it was. To make it ‘even better’ they danced down the aisle and at the end to their chosen song. Confirming, it in no way made it better.

ETA further detail as I’d obviously tried to put it out of my mind but now fully coming back. As they set out, the MC announced their name, like it was some sort of Miss World pageant. Then at the end of the song he would say ‘wasn’t that terrific’ or similar (he was either deaf or blind or something), and for the first we stood there not knowing what to do so some people clapped. By the end, defo no clapping but the MC kept up the gushing with gusto. Last out was the bride.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 02/04/2025 11:24
