Poppadom etiquette

I am curious as to the etiquette of sharing poppadoms in a group meal.

a) Do you see a pile and break a piece off the top one and then others do the same

b) karate chop through all the poppadoms then take pieces when you want

c) take a whole poppadom and break into pieces on your own side plate so you have a pile of poppadom

I am option A and was flabbergasted at seeing C on Saturday.

C. I'm confident I have the stomach capacity for 1 whole poppadom, even if that meant my fellow diners thought me greedy. If there weren't enough for 1 per person then I would ask the waiter for some more.

TBH I can't stand the "ooh, let's get loads of different things and share!" Eating out is more expensive than ever and I'm looking forward to having my favourite dishes, not someone else's.

C - that way then everyone is able hopefully to get their fair share. But also I am a germophobe (as well as being coeliac and previously on immunosuppression so particularly mindful of hygiene and cross contamination generally will do that to you) - people can be minging with their hand hygiene so also more hygienic if everyone is only touching what they will be eating.

C

Naan is usually one per couple, I’ve been touching my husbands food for 40 years, I don’t think he minds.

Yes how are people touching the bits they aren't eating?!? You snap a bit off with your fingers and take it back to your own plate. The only thing that touched the poppadom that remains on the communal plate is the laws of physics

No crumbs brushing by as they fell back onto what was left, to join all the other crumbs that brushed all the other hands?

I've never shared a naan either, even when we went to an Indian restaurant that served the really huge ones, we always had one each ,yum!
