Magnesium for Sleeping

Could I have recommendations for type, brand and where you get it from please?

I use Viridian, because it happens to be what a local shop has sold for the last zillion years.

Seems to do the trick.

Magnesium Glycinate is supposed to help sleeping. I just buy capsules from Amazon. Something like this https://amzn.eu/d/4J7LaUR .
I think it does help but don't expect a magic cure. I sleep better when I take it but still sometimes have bad nights.

I’ve tried it but it only works for the first night or two then seems to wear off.

I’ve started cycling through various “sleep aids” and that seems to do the trick!

Holland and Barrett own brand was great for me but Nutrition Geeks was rubbish.

The tablets are massive though and need to be snapped in half. I needed them for 18 months until I quit an awful job! I started using them again last week due to panic and anxiety - and they worked perfectly!

he ones I use are Glycinate but I haven't got them to hand to say what brand. They are a massive capsule and I'd rather be awake than have to swallow one of those gobstoppers!

So I empty the capsule powder contents into a small glass of fizzy multivits (Aldi version which has other magnesium in it). Get into bed, knock it back (tastes fine) and I'm gone for the night. As a pp said it doesn't always work, but for me it's 9 times out of 10, and it keeps me asleep so that's good enough for me.

I suppose trial and error will find the best one for you. But definitely Magnesium Glycinate anyway.

I sleep badly, and when i remember, I use BetterYou magnesium oil that you spray on, just a little at a time and rub in. it doesn't matter where you put it as it is absorbed very quickly, but you do have to rub it in for about a minute before it disappears and is no longer sticky. I think it helps.

I use 10 items from Nutrition Geeks and have found their magnesium to be really good- Amazon or direct from them

Magnesium glycinate for sleep I use the nutrition geeks one and it works well.
take it about 30/40 mins before bed.
I work shifts so my sleep is all over the place but it’s helped me go from 2/3 hrs a night to sometimes getting as much as 6hrs

I use the vitabiotics ultra magnesium, because its what my local supermarket stocks. Tablets aren't massive and it works well for me.

I did try the Holland & Barrett ones which were a lot cheaper but they didn't work for me.

I've also experimented with magnesium body butter which seems to work too.

Magnesium on its own does nothing for me. I’m VERY hard to knock out (lifelong insomniac). I’ve found it is much more effective for sleep when combined with L-Trypothan. I buy mine in a sleep supplement from JP Training called Dream Sleep (that also has Valerian root and other ‘goodies’ included. Wonderful stuff!! I don’t use it all the time as it’s expensive but when I’m going through a bad sleeping patch, I take it for a few nights and I get some real rest.

I just take the basic magnesium tablets from boots. They've really helped with restless legs.

Didn't get on with the butter that you put on your feet (all the skin came off..!) I now use cytoplan magnesium bisglycinate and it definitely works.

I just take Tesco’s. I have also started hrt. But my goodness the difference. I don’t think it’s just a placebo. If I wake at 3am you can usually bet I forgot to take it.

I read into magnesium glycinate recently for ds. I think some of the fancy brands have a money back guarantee?

Thought I'd give regular magnesium gummy bears for kids (30 bottle for £10 from amazon) a go first. My 6yo now sleeps through the night. He's woken 4x in the last month (we've just started his second month's bottle), compared with 5x ever sleeping through since birth. He's obviously a child though so different to you! I don't believe in anything woo but was desperate 😅

Depends on your sleeping problems I guess? Is the issue getting to sleep or staying asleep?

Magnesium citrate I think. I've used various, and they generally seem to work in that I usually sleep okay provided I'm not stressed.
