How would you feel if you ate this in a day?

Foolsgold74 · 22/03/2025 21:20

Breakfast - 4 slices white toast n butter
Snack - 16 mini brownie bites
Lunch - small portion of fish fingers n chips
Snack - cheese n mayo sandwich
Dinner - large bowl of pasta with tomato sauce n grated cheese
8 glasses of sparkling water with lime cordial

Would this be akin to an average day for you? Would it leave you feeling hungry or stuffed? Bloated? Absolutely fine?

I'm just struggling to understand how anyone could eat 16 brownie bites a day - whilst you might be able to cope with it now, I'd bet on your blood sugars not being that healthy and you will likely see am impact on your health soon, and quote possibly your teeth.

I'd seek some help for your sugar addiction, weight loss Injections do seem to help with this for a lot of people, myself included. I had a sweet tooth but nothing like yours, maybe a cake every 2 - 3 days and a couple of biscuits. Overeating caused my weight to get to 15stone at 5 feet but my diet was still a shed load healthier than yours but portion sizes were an issue for me.

I have already lost teeth. 16 brownie bites is nothing. I could eat triple that quite easily.

I hadn't heard that either, MarchHare, so I googled: "Studies have linked cola beverages, specifically, to lower bone mineral density, potentially due to phosphoric acid and caffeine content, but this doesn't apply to sparkling water."
It says a lot more about it

It looks as though it's OK but the op does drink an awful lot of it. I don't understand why but I prefer plain water anyway. It seems she has developed a few bad habits. The article goes on to say: "While sparkling water is generally safe, it's important to consume it in moderation, as excessive acidity might contribute to enamel erosion and digestive discomfort."

When I was young I used to eat quite a lot of sweets, chocolate, etc, and some junk food. I think most young people do at times, they are so lively and busy. I didn't feel ill because of it and did eat quite well sometimes. However, as I got older, I couldn't do that any more, I needed more vitamins and minerals and felt a lot better when I started to eat regularly and healthily, without being fanatical. I think I posted yesterday that people can generally get away with a poor diet when they are young but that isn't so as they age.

Stop buying rubbish...if it's not in the house, you can't eat it!

Yes to soup. I keep thinking I should make some but it honestly comes down to laziness and lack of motivation. All that effort for a boring old bowl of soup vs open a plastic wrapper for a gorgeous hit of sugar!!

You seem to be in self destruct mode.

The only person who can change the way to eat is you. Stop buying rubbish. Be kind to your body and start by buying some vitamin supplements.

Do you think you might be depressed?

CarrieOnComplaining · 23/03/2025 14:09

Buy some soup if you don’t want to make it.

The chilled kind, not tinned.

And extend your pasta to a tuna pasta bake or sauce: tuna in spring water added to the tomato sauce.

Eat overnight oats more often.

And cut down the brownies, reduce by 2 a day over the next week.

Do you like baked beans? Baked potato? Sweetcorn? Corn on the cob?

Nuts and raisins? (The unsalted kind?)

Shoezembagsforever · 23/03/2025 14:53

That’s an INCREDIBLE amount of food.

I’m mid-50s, not on a diet and am the upper end of a size 12 and yesterday I ate the following, which I think is quite typical:

Breakfast: Kiwi, Oatiflakes & milk, two cups of coffee.

Lunch: Ham, lettuce and salad cream sandwich on wholemeal bread. Water to drink and a tea.

Dinner: Pasta with cabbage, bacon lardons, onions and creme fraiche, water to drink.

I usually drink a lot of white wine after this but rarely snack in the day.

You really do need help with your addiction , not sure posting on MN is going to help you long term x

Semiramide · 23/03/2025 16:10

I agree you need help, @Foolsgold74 . You are clearly addicted to UPF, refined carbs and sugar, but there must be a huge psychological component to this addiction.

AInightingale · 23/03/2025 16:19

Do you have children or a partner who also likes this stuff? Is the problem keeping the unhealthy foods out of your cupboards and fridge? Because if not, surely that's half the battle, just don't buy it, as pps have said. It's a bit like Christmas - even people who normally eat healthily will have frequent fails if there's a bloody great tub of Celebrations in the middle of the living room.

The breakfast and first snack would be excessive for me. One slice of toast is enough, and 16 brownies?? that’s a bit much as a ‘snack’. The rest would be in the realms of fine. The sparkling water isn’t great.

Oh good we haven’t had a food related thread for about 12 minutes.

😂

Perfectlystill · 23/03/2025 17:38

I couldn’t even do that breakfast. Four slices of toast? I’m no precious sylph, but if I have toast for breakfast (which I rarely do as there’s not much goodness), I have one slice.

Oh, come off it! I’m very slim and would easily eat four slices of toast for breakfast.

What's wrong with sparkling water?

I don’t think talking about competitively under eating is helpful to the OP.

henlake7 · 23/03/2025 18:39

I could eat all that but would feel crap afterwards (recently I managed to eat a whole loaf of freshly made bread with jam and butter in a day! tasted awesome but not something I do on the regular).
OP if that's your regular diet then you really need to change it. Start by adding more fruit and vegetables into your meals and save the box of brownies til the end of the day (you will probably eat less of them if you are already full).

AnyoneWhoHasAHeart · 23/03/2025 18:40

It’s not even just about the nutritional value of all that. It’s pure greed.

4 slices of toast is absolute greed, that’s a quarter of a loaf of bread.

Again, sixteen brownies, greed.

It would be greed even if you ate sixteen fruit squares And the reality is nobody eats those kinds of excessive portions of fruit and veg, so why white bread and sugar laden crap.

Do you think this is in any way helpful to the OP? What did you hope to achieve by posting this comment?

ohyesido · 23/03/2025 18:48

The brownies would make me feel sick.

two cooked meals in one day plus a sandwich is excessive i think but I’d enjoy it

Bjorkdidit · 23/03/2025 18:53

Surely it depends on the size of the meals as to whether '2 cooked meals and a sandwich' is excessive? That could easily come within a person's calorie needs.

Most people could eat and very much enjoy 4 slices of buttered toast but would avoid it because it's a lot of empty calories so not a sustainable way of eating unfortunately.

The thing is that people are normalising this level of consumption when it’s not normal to eat at that level.

People are talking about the lack of fruit and veg, and some even saying that 4 slices of toast for breakfast is perfectly normal when it really isn’t.

The issue isn’t just about what she’s eating, but how much of it she’s eating, and most people seem to have overlooked that.

OP is heading for diabetes with this level of food consumption. Not to mention heart disease. That level of food consumption doesn’t just cause obesity, as anyone who has a fast metabolism will tell you.

It’s very clear that OP knows this isn’t normal or healthy. You sound like you think you’re enlightening people 😆

It's hardly just two cooked meals and a sandwich. It's two cooked meals, a sandwich, 4 slices of toast and 16 brownie bites. I think it's safe to say that's excessive. OP knows she's eating excessively and is harming her health.
