Hail fellow X'ers.

We are never mentioned. It's always Boomers, Millennials or gen Z.

Why the fuck not?

We definitely exist, we were very cool people.

I have such good memories of my 70's childhood and teenage years in the 80's.

And all the goodness of the late 80s and early 90s.

It did happen didn't it?

under the radar, observing with amusement. Lets keep it that way

Eyerollexpert · 14/03/2025 21:45

At uni in Leeds in the 80's, OMG amazing time, every conceivable type of party, night club, music loved it.😍

WTAFAmerica · 14/03/2025 21:46

We are SO the best 🙌🙌🙌

Mach3 · 14/03/2025 21:47

PollyCreo · 14/03/2025 21:40

Yeah there was none of this "anxiety" or tracking shit. We just lied to our parents about where we were going, they were none the wiser 😉

Yes!

I've actively asked my children to lie to me.

I DON'T WANT TO KNOW.

You've made me be responsible with your truths!

Why are there so many Gen whatever posts on here today?! This is the third I’ve seen. It’s all bollocks anyway, apart from Gen X because we are, quite obviously, indeed the coolest.

Exactly

Gen x here. I get mildly annoyed by these millennials vs boomers shite. Us gen x lot are just sitting here being ignored while they battle it out. Meanwhile we are/have been/will be in charge of wiping all their arses.

You're the lucky ones. I'm a boomer We get mentioned all the time just to be moaned about. I'd far rather be invisible, frankly. Why do you want the attention we get? It's absolutely never positive.

Kittenswhiskers · 14/03/2025 21:49

Gen x is really unique
the last generation raised without the internet
toigh cookies made of strong stuff imo

Ladyglittersparkleseriously · 14/03/2025 21:50

"we were very cool people"

We ARE very cool people! And IDGAF about being ignored/ misunderstood. Perhaps we're too cool for that!

Exactly this, the variety.

89-94 were the best years to be going-out age. Dancing to The Mission and The Cure one minute, Carter USM, James and Cud the next, a bit of acid house rave the next - all on the same dance floor and the hippies with the goths and the baggy short brigade…

Mach3 · 14/03/2025 21:51

Nice.

Hello friends.

waves to the other GenXers

I miss the 90s.

100%

End of Gen Xer here. 90s were my era and they just feel like yesterday

Kittenswhiskers · 14/03/2025 21:53

Also I’ve noticed gen x don’t really get bored

Somethingthecatdraggedin7 · 14/03/2025 21:55

I was thinking exactly the same earlier today when I read yet another thing about Gen Z.
We are the invisible generation.

TurquoiseDress · 14/03/2025 21:55

Ohhh just realised that I’m (just) Gen X I was born in 1978…being a teenager in the 90s…the coolest decade…or so I tell my (primary school aged) kids!

I'm 52 years of age and my parents don't know to this day what I got up to in the 90s....

I think the year definitions for Gen X is wrong. I agree with this statement...
It's just the boomers trying to take some of the cool kids into their fold.1961-1981 works better for Gen X.
If you were born in 1961 you hit adulthood in the shitstorm of the early 1980s and never had the “here’s your super nice job and 2% mortgage” that the boomers got. We had stagflation and high unemployment and then trickledown bullshit for our whole adult lives.

Rollercoaster1920 · 14/03/2025 21:58

I was listening to X FM on the radio. I wondered if it's been playing the same stuff done the 90s. It was great!

GarlicStyle · 14/03/2025 21:58

Coffeeishot · 14/03/2025 21:30

1965ish -1980

I mean, I'm a boomer but have always identified as Gen X. Except that none of this 'identifying' bollocks was around then 😄

Somebody came up with a name for us (twenty years is too long for a 'generation') but it obviously hasn't stuck. Late Boomers? Nah.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 14/03/2025 21:59

I only found out this week that I’m part of the ignored generation. News to me?!

at uni in the early 90s. Loved the 90s

Mebbe. I'd agree. My oldest sister is technically a boomer 1963, but she's a Gen X by heart.

“here’s your super nice job and 2% mortgage”

Are you fucking joking???!! Leaving school in the mid-Seventies was ... not like this 👀

EdithStourton · 14/03/2025 22:02

Late 70s/early 80s music was bloody excellent.

On the other hand, we did worry quite a lot about nuclear war, possibly due to the fact that we lived rather close to several American air bases.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 14/03/2025 22:02

90s was a revelation as racism reduced / changed a little. I wasn’t scared like I was in 70s/80s
