In Sainsbury's today. Chocolate/ Easter egg isle.
Two young adults looking at Easter eggs.
One says to the other " l wish the fu**ing Government would make it's mind up about Easter and have it on the same date every year like Christmas.

Interesting - is that the same all over Scotland then? Quite a few years back I am fairly sure it used to be the same two weeks. I’m a bit ancient though

No, not at all. I looked up the next council area and their weeks are slightly different to ours.

I bet the kid who was going to get a WH Smith bible was far happier with a chocolate egg 😆

Thinking about it logically, if someone died, the anniversary of their death would be on the same date each year. Based on that, they spoke sense!

Having a fixed date for Easter is an idea that has been discussed quite regularly by the Government. There’s more on it here:

Easter is always the first Sunday after the Vernal Equinox.

@ItsFridayIminLoveJS who was it that decided Christmas Day will be a fixed date though?
Was it the church or the government?

The Catholic church when they superimposed their religious festivals over pagan ones.

In Scottish state schools Easter break is the same fortnight every year. Seems to work!

Not all of them. Our council still has them over Easter itself.
I am not hugely fussed when they are but this has been a long term and we are ready for the holidays. Niece is in Aberdeenshire she has 2 weeks to go we still have 3.
When we were in Aberdeen they made the move there to the same time every year but in Highland we move with Easter.
