Travellers pitch - would you move by ?

couldn't find relevant topic so posting here

Recently enquired about a new build house in a new upcoming small village coming together. However, 6 houses down there is a travellers pitch. Reading online I don't hear good things and now don't know what to do. I currently live in a very prime location but the house is now too small for the amount of people we are.

Does anyone have any experience living near one or what advice would you give in terms of buying one near by and reselling in future etc.

Absolutely not. Not a chance. I know I'll be called names but too much risk for antisocial behaviour, commercial vehicles and it would affect resale value in the future.

loropianalover · 12/03/2025 15:27

I’d just keep looking for another property. Not worth the risk.

rivalsbinge · 12/03/2025 15:27

Nope nope nope... we sold up as there were a few cropping up in our village and they were given permanent rights.

The value on the house will fall and you will be totally stuck if you buy. Everyone will brush over it but please don't.

MinnieCauldwell · 12/03/2025 15:29

It's a big NO from me, my cousins village has had huge problems.

Jeezitneverends · 12/03/2025 15:30

No chance

piscofrisco · 12/03/2025 15:30

Absolutely not

TallulahBetty · 12/03/2025 15:31

No chance. And the subsequent buyers will have reservations too, so you'll struggle to sell

ClosetBasketCase · 12/03/2025 15:32

Catagorically not!! The house won't hold its value, there are always legal and social issues. Just no- keep looking

Balloonhearts · 12/03/2025 15:37

Hell no. Keep looking.

CwmYoy · 12/03/2025 15:37

Double hell no.

Wildflowers99 · 12/03/2025 15:38

No.

I really feel for the owner, it will be basically unsellable.

RosesAndHellebores · 12/03/2025 15:41

Nope.

Florence4170 · 12/03/2025 15:42

Broadnook?

KitsyWitsy · 12/03/2025 15:45

Nooooooooooo!

elliejjtiny · 12/03/2025 15:47

We live across the road from one, have done for 20 years. It's been absolutely fine.

coldcallerbaiter · 12/03/2025 15:48

When you say 6 houses, do you mean there are 6 new built homes and then a pitch for caravans?

528htz · 12/03/2025 15:49

We live near such an area. Don't do it.

Mabiscuit · 12/03/2025 15:52

It's a really horrible thing to say as there are anti-social issues in every community but I would personally look elsewhere.

Dragonsandcats · 12/03/2025 15:53

No way.

MrsKeats · 12/03/2025 16:04

No way on earth.

1dontunderstand · 12/03/2025 16:07

More information is needed.

Is it a new traveller site? Is it static caravans? How many? Is yours and the 6 houses all new build?

JeanGenieJean · 12/03/2025 16:10

No way, I have heard too many horror stories about traveller camps.

Daisymae23 · 12/03/2025 16:13

I did live near one and I wouldn’t recommend it.

oakleaffy · 12/03/2025 16:14

Location, location, location.

I'd rather be cramped in a good location than have more space in an area where there could be antisocial behaviour.

Is this a second thread OP? I seem to have read an almost identical one last week?
