Guilty pleasure TV shows

What are some shows you love but you know you shouldn’t?

Mine are mostly 00/10s reality shows that I rewatch when I don’t fancy starting something new. Things like My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, Four Weddings, Airline, the car crash one with Lisa Scott Lee! Jersey Shore was also a firm favourite. Total garbage but so nostalgic.

The good ship murder, it's so cheesy and I love the song at the end

You have also perfectly summed up all those Jane McDonald travel cruising shows that are on my guilty pleasure list!

SmugglersHaunt · 10/03/2025 17:06

Below Deck is always amazing - as is the wonder that is MAFSAU

EasternStandard · 10/03/2025 17:11

Made in Chelsea
Selling Sunset

Are my faves

Also, there’s no such thing as a ‘guilty pleasure’ - if you enjoy it, enjoy it!

Sidge · 10/03/2025 17:42

Say Yes to The Dress. But only the US ones.

Especially love the Atlanta ones, so cheesy.

piscofrisco · 10/03/2025 17:43

Selling sunset, Selling the City-any of those realtor programmes.

The Tudors. I've got a history degree and I know it to be total rubbish, but I re watch it all the time.

thebear1 · 10/03/2025 17:45

All the BRAVO shows, I used to really enjoy mob wives but whoever made it has stopped.

Everyone who loves those awful Bravo shows needs to listen to the Watch What Crappens Podcast. They do hilarious recaps of the shows that are way more entertaining than the shows themselves.

There was a 90 day fiance spin off where couples who had been on previous series watched the current one, almost like a Gogglebox situation, which I loved.

Pillowtalk, I used to watch that too.

I don't think I've got any currently but I used to LOVE Wife Swap and Supernanny! Out of the gazillion streaming services available I'm gutted that neither are available to watch anywhere!

@MaltipooMama Wife Swap is on YouTube

MrsMoastyToasty · 10/03/2025 19:29

Say Yes to The Dress (particularly the ones with Randy Fenolli or Gok Wan).

Wendolino · 10/03/2025 19:32

I used to love Coach Trip, all that cattiness and horrible people stirring up the nice ones. Pity they changed the format and ruined it. Brendan was a lovely tour guide.

SpottedDonkey · 10/03/2025 19:34

I was addicted to Geordie Shore. Blush

I watched it from season 1 until it jumped the shark during Covid. Nobody knows this, as I have never confessed to anyone IRL and never would. Because I am a well educated professional person with actual real-life responsibilities.

abnerbrownsdressinggown · 10/03/2025 19:37

Going back a bit but my favourites were:

America's Next Top Model (and Britain's Next Top Model which was so budget in comparison!).
My Super Sweet Sixteen - ridiculously over the top American 16th birthday parties and they always got a car (and there was more than one tantrum when the car wasn't bling enough!)

And DH and I loved Bad Lads' Army as well.

Do you remember the one where someone got kicked off the coach for hitting someone.
That one was ace.

God yes The Tudors is just fabulous as is The Last Kingdom

I also rewatch Rome almost monthly but that might be due to James Purefoy’s nudity 🔥

Yirk · 10/03/2025 20:00

Gogglebox,
Kardashians,
Ambulance

The Last Kingdom is one of the best things I’ve ever watched (minus the film which was awful). I definitely wouldn’t consider it a guilty pleasure!

GPs behind closed doors
Eastenders ( only soap I've stuck with)
Traffic cops
Coach trip was great! The arguments were funny

the80sweregreat · 10/03/2025 20:31

I also love a cleaning programme.
I like seeing it all tidy and sparkling once it's been sorted out

unlikelywitch · 10/03/2025 20:37

Oh you’ve unlocked a memory @the80sweregreat. I loved Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners. Obviously the show name and premise was more than a little problematic but I’m a sucker for a cleaning programme.

I guess the ‘guilty’ bit comes from knowing it’s a huge dose of fantasy - no way, for example, our very own Lady of Mercia was shagging a Saxon lord raised as a Dane! ( although who could blame her).

CalliopePlantain · 10/03/2025 20:41

Storage wars is a fave of mine. Liked pawn stars too.

catfish when it was Nev and Max

edited to add: as soon as sunset beach is available to stream I’m booking annual leave and binging

the80sweregreat · 10/03/2025 20:47

Yes, Hayley Leitch from OCD cleaners went on to do another show I sometimes binge on the five catch up channel!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 10/03/2025 20:48

@CalliopePlantain

Definitely Catfish the early years with Nev and Max!

The two cousins episode was the best one!
