Good Morning Everyone! What are you all up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot, after coming down with the kittens for their breakfast. No-one else is up yet, and probably won't be for a while, so I'm enjoying the peace.

I have a mental list of things I'd like to get done today...will see how far I get!

I want to list some things on Vinted, cut some things for work, finish dd1's bows for our Gracie Abrams gig on Thursday, wash my make up brushes, and wash towels. We did say we'd have an hour or two making a few more bracelets to trade at Gracie's show too.

Dd1 has homework to finish for Law, and dd2 has part of an exam on Friday so will probably get on with some revision/prep for that.

We're having meatballs for tea this evening, with whatever pasta's in the cupboard, and garlic bread. Followed by nice, early, showers all round, a few hours relaxing doing nothing much, and early nights 💤💤

What about all of you?🙂

This morning I'm hoping to encourage the children on to their bikes and want to do some tidying in the garden.

I'm working this afternoon.

I enjoyed reading a similar thread to this yesterday. It made me realise how normal everyone's lives are (mine included). Like beautifully mundane

SweepTheHalls · 09/03/2025 08:47

Marking mock exam papers for year 11, seeing my mum and sister this morning, making all the family go and see the inlaws this afternoon, roast chicken for dinner and hoping to get time to go for a swim!

Trying to not look at how disgusting the house is as there are 5 of us here, and I'm not going to be the only one missing out on doing what I want this weekend and I'm sick of asking others to pull their weight!

Taytocrisps · 09/03/2025 08:47

Morning @lucysmam. I'm having a cuppa and some toast. I need to get dressed in about 10 minutes and drop DD to work. Thankfully she has passed her driving test - we're just waiting for her full licence to arrive. I've had a lingering head cold so I'm planning a quiet, easy day. It's a beautiful, sunny morning, so I might head to a local garden and go for a gentle walk. I think the fresh air and sunshine might help to clear my head. I need to make dinner - ham, garlic potatoes and carrots/sprouts. This evening I'm going to make a fruit smoothie and take some to work for my lunch on Monday.

RabbitsRock · 09/03/2025 08:51

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. Awake since just before 7 & not long finished the first cuppa of the day in bed with DH. Unfortunately I have to work later but will finish at 2. I can hear DD16 sneezing in her room. She sneezes a lot as her room doesn’t get cleaned! Will get into my uniform in a bit & make another cuppa. I seem to have got out of the habit of having breakfast. Dishwasher needs unloading/loading & the kitchen surfaces could do with a wipe down. Haven’t really noticed what the weather’s doing yet - might go for a walk after my shift if it stays dry. Nice easy tea of crispy shredded duck with egg fried rice. Will see if I have any prawn toasts and/or spring rolls in the freezer. DH will clean out the bunnies. Need to find something to watch tonight now that Call The Midwife has finished. Love that on a Sunday evening. If I’m in the mood, I might start sorting through some of the piles on the kitchen table & in the lounge. Keep swearing I won’t buy any more magazines as I don’t get round to reading many but I still end up with lots! Have a great Sunday folks 🙂

DoNoTakeNo · 09/03/2025 09:05

Morning, another lovely, normalising thread - thank you @lucysmam & everyone.
Cooking for our Sunday evening meal with my parents - as usual - & ensuring there's plenty for them for the week. Hopefully reading yesterday's newspapers & definitely drinking lots of my new favourite drink, the wonderful Barry's Tea - how come I am mid50s and have only just discovered this Irish nectar!!

frozendaisy · 09/03/2025 09:10

Good morning all,

I achieved the usually impossible yesterday and put all clean dry laundry away, I was expecting some sort of gun salute but alas nothing!

Going to go down make coffee and get ribs out of freezer for dinner shortly, ribs, homemade potato salad, home made red cabbage coleslaw and bread maker buns, with green leaves, and various pickles out of jars later (easy) especially after the marathon Mexican buffet yesterday which still needs washing up!

Will enjoy garden sunshine, eldest has to hit the books, youngster off to a bowling party.

So fairly chilled VitD producing day I hope.

Enjoy the brief heat everyone.

ssd · 09/03/2025 09:10

@lucysmam good morning! Im not long up, have put a wash on. Am about to get my tea and toast. Luckily am feeling much better, just got a cough now. It looks a bit duller today, hopefully it will brighten up later.

Crunchymum · 09/03/2025 09:28

It's a beautiful day here. Just waiting for DP to price a new job and then he's taking the kids out.

They are going to head over to Greenwich, hopefully via the Thames Clipper (although I imagine everyone will have the same idea today)

I'm making a picnic for them to take.

Unfortunately I'm still too poorly for anything like this so I'm going to rest but I'll make sure I take my book out on the terrace to enjoy some sunshine.

I'm roasting a chicken for dinner and we'll have this in wraps with salad and dips.

Rowgtfc72 · 09/03/2025 09:30

Morning
Sat on sofa waiting for dh to go wash the car so I can catch up on last night's Casualty episode. Thankfully he's just put the kettle on!
Got one ear out for dd. She crawled in very quietly at 3am. She turned 18 on Friday and went out out for the first time last night. My brother came up from London for her birthday and he found her in a pub at 2am where she was doing shots.
Considering she came in so quietly I assume all is well.
Rest of day will involve catching up with my brother before he goes home and listening to dds version of last night!

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 09/03/2025 09:33

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I've had two coffees and two slices of toast and a cuppa so far. Shortly I'm heading out to buy bedding for a new bed I bought for dgs2. Later he's coming for a couple of hours while dgs1 goes to a birthday party. We will play at holidays and shops. (He's 3). I'm making fish pie for dinner which will do me a couple of days. Have a good day all.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 09/03/2025 09:42

Good morning, I've never posted on a thread like this before, hope you don't mind me dropping in.

I've been awake for a while, drunk coffee and finished a novel in bed. I've also already got a load of washing out on the line as I managed to set the timer on my new washing machine. Later I'll go to IKEA with DH and teen DD to pick up a few bits. 18yr old DS will go and play D&D with mates this afternoon. I'll probably potter in the garden, maybe more reading. Easy tea of jacket potatoes and salad then knitting in front of the TV in the evening (also missing Call the Midwife already)

DilemmaDelilah · 09/03/2025 09:43

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone!

I did what I planned to do yesterday and the spare room is now clean and tidy, it looks lovely and the bed is made with all littlest grandson's cuddlies tucked up in it waiting for him. My office has been tidied and the bedding for the trundle has been done, cover on the duvet and pillowcases on the pillows. I have a lovely soft blush pink fleece blanket to go on the bed as well. I have to work in the office next week, so it won't have its final clean until Thursday. It is very cramped with the trundle in there but also looks cosy - and the bedding I got is exactly the right colour for the walls so I think it looks nice.

When I finish this we're going shopping for cold meats and interesting breads for family lunch next Saturday. I will have to ensure I keep a close eye on expiry dates.... Mr Dilemma tends not to and then we end up with a lot of stuff that all needs eating by tomorrow. Bread can go in the freezer.

I found out yesterday that my sister who has just had the lumpectomy is back in hospital for another, unrelated, serious issue and there was a thought she would need surgery. Luckily she has avoided that at present but she will still be in for a few days. She has had such a run of bad luck. It does make a change from me being the unhealthy one though! She came to look after me for a week when I was just out of hospital with chemo toxicity and not able to do anything, and again for a week after my mastectomy and axillary clearance - I feel so guilty I can't help her! Just going round Lidl and Aldi this morning will wipe me out for the rest of the day.

Once we come home from shopping I will amend my Ocado shopping list - and that's going to be all for today.

Hedjwitch · 09/03/2025 09:45

Morning. Still in bed with a coffee. No real plans for today. Need to do a food shop, probably potter in the garden a bit.
No idea what to do for dinner...have really lost interest in cooking these days.

Lamelie · 09/03/2025 09:57

Morning all! Another dropper in here.
Glorious here but set to get colder later in the week so I’m going to crack on with gardening- nothing exciting, just clearing, raking. I’m also going to sort out bins and sweep the drive. If I get that done by lunchtime I’m going to treat my battered hands to a manicure (walking distance) but must be home 2ish as dd is returning from a weeks work in the states- she’s had a wonderful time but is craving fruit and veg. DH and DS off to football and then slap up home made meatballs/ veg alternative.
And I’m already had a couple of coffees and a cup of redbush, back in bed and scrolling until I move. Have a great day @lucysmam and everyone.

lucysmam · 09/03/2025 10:04

@RhinestoneCowgirl absolutely not! The more the merrier 😊 (I sang your username in my head 🤣)

I've got a second load in the washer, listed on Vinted & faffed with Gracie bows. The bows look worse with my attempt at pointy ends 🙄 so may straighten them back up. & then pop a stitch in the hairbow to hold its loops in place. Still need to wash up & sort my work stuff. I've also just had a brainwave for how to organise pics for dd1's 18th birthday year of gigs scrap book so will sit and do that at some point.

Dd2's been down for breakfast & gone back to do her History homework.

Good morning Lucysmam and All!

A lovely easy Sunday with hopefully nothing more than reading a book on my patio this afternoon with a bit of pottering about. DD12 and I spent all day yesterday in London meeting friends for lunch and then wandering around the National Gallery so I am a bit shattered today - we had a great day but as an introvert I will relish today decompressing!

I will call my Mum shortly for a catch up and then put a wash on for uniform and work clothes. Online food shop coming this evening so will be an interesting combo of things for lunch.

Hope you all have good Sundays and enjoy the sunshine if you have it!!

gingercat02 · 09/03/2025 10:12

Morning all, still a bit under the weather, so another quiet one for me.
DH is off to the shops for new jeans, but even though he has been up for hours, he is only now having breakfast.
We had the unexpected company of DS last night, so we had a lovely family night with fajitas and tv. It's a rare occasion these days!
It's foggy here, so my gentle walk for some air seems unlikely. Just have to see how the day pans out.

Rainbow1235 · 09/03/2025 10:20

babbi · 09/03/2025 10:23

Good morning Lucysmam and all ,

I worked until after 1 am last night ( technically a Monday-Friday office job ) but DD was working on an essay for uni so I stayed up to keep her company.
Hopefully it will help me have a better work week 🙏

Having extended family over this afternoon for lunch so I’ll get organised with that soon after my cuppa and toast .

Have a great Sunday all .

@DilemmaDelilah so sorry to hear about your sister .. such tough times for you both .
Take care 🥰

Goldenbear · 09/03/2025 10:30

We are taking our Christmas tree to the dump, it is currently in our garden but has died. We are then walking to the beach and going to a pizza restaurant there with our teenagers for lunch. We were going to cook but DH heading off to work away tonight for a few days so we thought we would have more of a day out. Plus, we did a huge spring clean yesterday as has friends coming around for the evening and missed the lovely sunshine so we don't want to spend another day inside!

Zippedydodah · 09/03/2025 10:32

Good morning everyone, it’s a lovely sunny morning here.
Dh has taken the dog out, the last load of washing is on the line and I’ve done the ironing.
I made a batch of mackerel pate, some is in the fridge, looking forward to having it on toast for tea. Lemon and garlic chicken for lunch with wedges, romanesco cauliflower, roast parsnips and carrots - I cleared out the veg drawer in the fridge earlier hence random selection 😊
I have tidied my craft room, I’m into drawing at the moment so my slow stitch stuff is put away, my embroidery things are downstairs and I have nothing in particular planned for the rest of the day. I will probably take a book down to my summerhouse and enjoy some peace and quiet with a mug of tea later before taking the dog out.
Thinking of those with troubles and buggerations 🤗

twistyizzy · 09/03/2025 10:35

Lovely early morning walk with dog to do the horse then quick blitz of the house before I now drive DD to Pony Club competition. Won't be home until late but in this weather it's the best way to spend a Sunday!
DH is making toad in the hole for our return and I have half a bottle of Moet + some birthday cake to polish off tonight!

Chazoop · 09/03/2025 10:36

Off to the footy! Pompey V Leeds!

SleepDeprivedButAlive · 09/03/2025 10:37

I'm doing a jumble sale today to get rid of some of the tat accumulating in my house. It doesn't start until 11 so I'm just sat behind the table that has been set up on MN until people are let in.

Planning on making sausage and mash when I get home as a comfort food because I'm just so tired and sluggish today.

Decafflatteplease · 09/03/2025 10:37

Morning @lucysmam

@Axalotllittle it's exactly the normality and the hum drum of the mundane that make these thread so cosy and comforting.. simple pleasures.

It's usually my turn for a lie in on a Sunday but instead I had a lovely long bath with a cup of tea and did a hair mask and face mask.

DH has taken the younger DC out for the morning to soft play, older DC are pottering around upstairs.

Ive got 3 loads of washing to hang on the line one of my favourite jobs! I'll check on the frogspawn in the pond while I'm in the garden aswell.

This afternoon will be homework and getting ready for the week.

Roast chicken dinner later then I'll watch last night's casualty when DC asleep then an early night for me!
