Hayfever in March?

CLR1313 · 09/03/2025 05:38

Has anyone else’s hayfever started really suddenly this month? It’s either that or I’ve caught a cold (doesn’t feel like a cold though - but I do work with kids so 🤷🏼‍♀️)

I have counted how many sneezes I do every day for the past 3 years and yesterday I did 34 which is excessive! My nose is constantly tickly, my throat is itchy and even my ears itch.

Please tell me I’m not the only one suffering so early?

Tree pollen

Sourisblanche · 09/03/2025 06:26

Me too, it’s particularly awful this year! I was thinking about starting a thread myself.

WonderingWanda · 09/03/2025 06:28

Ah, this is why my eyes are itchy and dh has started snoring. I forget every year about hay-fever!

Yes it's bastard tree pollen. Catches me unaware EVERY year.

littlemisspickles · 09/03/2025 06:46

Me too, love this time of year but hate the hay fever. My eyes, nose and roof of my mouth itch. My usual antihistamines aren't helping. I've got eye drops that improve things slightly. Going to research further options today

nightmarepickle2025 · 09/03/2025 06:49

Yep right here with you, sort of glad I'm not the only one

SometimesCalmPerson · 09/03/2025 06:51

I’ve been back on the antihistamines since mid February.

Missionimprobable · 09/03/2025 06:52

Yep, tree pollen.
I'm suffering and so is ddog, we're both sneezing, watery eyes etc.
My phone has a high pollen count icon showing.

CrepuscularCritter · 09/03/2025 06:55

Been snuffly here for about a week and with itchy eyes. Hoping to see some beautiful trees in bloom soon.

Mulledjuice · 09/03/2025 06:56

Yep. Need to get some nasal spray

TheNoonBell · 09/03/2025 07:01

Very snotty this morning. but I don't mind as it is going to be a beautiful day.

Fleur405 · 09/03/2025 07:05

It’s the trees… mine started weeks ago!

CLR1313 · 09/03/2025 08:50

I never, ever suffered with hayfever until I got pregnant in 2022 (unfortunately no baby to show for it), but now it affects me every year, but hasn’t been this early before.

Good thing is that I’m autistic and sneezing is one of my “hyper fixations” but it’s getting a bit old now having to sneeze so much.

I start antihistamines in early February.

We have yew trees in the garden and there are clouds of pollen wafting off them now.

Blossom is coming out on the hawthorn too on my walk this morning.

Whodoyouthinkuare · 09/03/2025 08:51

Yep husband has started with it

jay55 · 09/03/2025 09:03

Yup, last day of feb the sneezes started.

AlleyRose · 09/03/2025 10:52

Do any of you get a weird throat with it? Like, not sore but feels exactly like you're gonna wake up with a cold?

I feel constantly bunged up, stuffy head and weird throat and it started about 10 days/2 weeks ago? Had the same last year but slightly later in March.

And it lasted all bloody spring and summer 😭😭

What are you all using? I'm taking fexofenadine (otc) and dymista steroid spray - and they're not really working.

Printedword · 09/03/2025 10:59

You can get it any time of year if - for example - grass is activated by gardening or you buy fresh flowers or house plants

glitterturd · 09/03/2025 11:04

It's those white trees - spotted the bastards in bloom yesterday. White birch pollen!

Pebbles16 · 09/03/2025 11:26

Out comes the sunshine, shortly followed by my hay fever! So very annoying

Oldraver · 09/03/2025 11:29

Mine and OH's always starts in March due to tree pollen

CLR1313 · 09/03/2025 13:42

I haven’t taken anything for it yet but I think I’m going to have to as (tmi) wet myself twice yesterday from sneezing! 36 and pelvic floor isn’t what it used to be!

I cannot tell you how much I love that you have a sneeze record going back three years. Id love to have that but I don't have the focus to remember to count my sneezes each day.
Are you a crafter? I recently bought a book about using data in textile art. You could make a really cute piece by eg averaging the three years worth of data over each month and embroidering a star for each sneeze - different colours for each month.
Also, yes, it's probably the bloody trees. I've been much worse this year too

Climber12 · 09/03/2025 13:57

Same here. Started a few weeks back but today is brutal! I want to rip my eyes out with the itching!

BashfulClam · 09/03/2025 13:58

Yes my eyes have been itchy since yesterday. I keep sneezing too. Time to get the antihistamines started.
