Could you be with someone really dumb if they were super hot?

I don’t think I could for any length of time.

sometimes you see a celebrity who is gorgeous and then you hear them being interviewed and they’re boring or stupid or vapid and all attraction just goes.

has anyone traded off brains for looks?

This is so heartbreaking to read, I was cast aside at school as unteachable.
Nobody chooses to be at an intellectual disadvantage, its genes and decided before you're even born.
People can still be lovable and have a good heart despite intellectual impairment.

Yeah it's genes and decided before you're born...so why would anyone want those genes for their children? 🤷‍♀️

Hoppinggreen · 07/03/2025 19:01

No, it would give me major ick.
I did have a very hot BF when I was 17/18 and I really liked him until we were watching a quiz show on TV and he kept shouting out (wrong) answers. Not slightly wrong but REALLY REALLY wrong.
I went right off him, if he hadn't known or had kept quiet I would have been ok with that but shouting out total nonsense with absolute confidence put me right off.

kalokagathos · 07/03/2025 19:01

I had to dump a personal trainer who I went for 2-3 dates with. He was hot but so dumb I couldn't even kiss him. I was irritated the whole time!

WhiteOrca · 07/03/2025 19:04

No. A lot of what makes someone attractive is their intelligence, not their looks!

arkpark · 07/03/2025 19:21

@Regretsmorethanafew I do have children and my children are lovely thank you.

Titasaducksarse · 07/03/2025 19:28

No way. A shag yes but being thick is a real turn off after a while. I don't mean they need to be super clever but just have interests, show interest, be passionate about something.

Giggorata · 07/03/2025 19:40

My first, too early and VERY short lived marriage. Rather striking looking and nothing between the ears.
I was young…

tipsandtoes · 07/03/2025 19:42

How dumb are we talking?

Olika · 07/03/2025 19:43

My fave thing with my DH is us cuddling on the sofa and talking about everything and anything, so I don't think so.

But are you non academic or thick? They weren't the same thing.

The fact that you can communicate your feelings on here suggest you aren't thick.

There are some very good-looking Z-listers who never made it, as they are just too stupid. Others, who are average, have been hugely successful in the same game. Examples are -

Jack Tweed, too dumb.
Jack Fincham, even dumber.

Mark Wright, savvy.
Stacey Solomon, super savvy.

Molly May is meh x 1000 but must be doing something right!

Userengage · 07/03/2025 20:00

I do love a dumb hunk so yes, I would but I do prefer intelligent men.

Nothatgingerpirate · 07/03/2025 20:03

No.
Can't stand dumb people.
Especially dumb men.

1457bloom · 07/03/2025 20:03

Definitely

JeanPaulGagtier · 07/03/2025 20:05

No. That includes men who can't ask questions to get to know me properly, too, as that is emotional intelligence which is just as importance.

oakleaffy · 07/03/2025 20:05

“Dumb” means cannot speak ( usually through being born deaf)

If you mean “Unintelligent”, say that instead.

CharlotteCChapel · 07/03/2025 20:07

No, I actually like to have conversations with DH, even if he does say that's not right a lot ( usually to do with TV programmes)

MaryGreenhill · 07/03/2025 20:08

OMG NO

Dumb has multiple meanings. If you're going to be smug, at least be correct.

Apfelkuchen · 07/03/2025 20:14

I went out with one at uni, he was so good looking that he was approached by people in the street. He was an unintelligent posh boy though, very sweet but boring as hell. I felt guilty dumping him, but I couldn’t bear the lack of intelligent conversation.

DancingFerret · 07/03/2025 20:17

No, absolutely not.

Oblomov25 · 07/03/2025 20:19

No. Never. Ever.

Maddy70 · 07/03/2025 20:22

No. I did for a very short time. Dear god it was tedious

Lickityspit · 07/03/2025 20:28

I couldn’t be with someone really hot if they had no personality or humour. My DH is not a patch looks wise on my ex (who was hot but dull) but to me he is the most gorgeous man there is. He makes me laugh and looks after me and is chock full of personality. If it wasn’t for the snoring he would be utterly perfect 😂😂
