As title said a rare trip to M&S food for me this afternoon as I don’t often pass one…

We have a nice evening without teenagers this weekend and would love to grab a few treats to enjoy for meals and snacks to enjoy.

Already know that I want some of their lovely butter with smoked salt and a good sour dough, what else would you recommend?

I’m clearly in the minority! I think, with a few exceptions , their food is pretty awful. Their fruit is decent quality but so pricey for what you get.

I eat 70% dark chocolate and I blind taste tested bars from all of the supermarkets and Lindt. Morrisons and Asda were by far the best. Tescos, Sainsbury’s and Lindt were middling. M and S and Waitrose were both awful.

I do like their hot smoked salmon flakes and their coriander prawns though.

Omg you mean the ones covered in thick chocolate??? They are so unbelievably good they should be illegal!

Those very ones!!. Sensational, them with a cup of roasting hot tea. Bliss!

Breaded chicken goujons, toffee meringues, Collin caterpillar faces, walnut whips, giant chocolate buttons and mozzarella garlic bread

We must thrown out dozens of Colin faces over the years. Our kids would never eat that bit!

I’m trying to avoid them due to them advertising on gb news.

Plenty are. Maybe they are trying to combat that by engaging in more subliminal advertising.

Most definitely.

Just discovered chocolates covered pecans, £3. Soooo delicious and only 600 cals for the bag!

I also love the iced and spiced buns.

Me and DD had 2 of their healthier ready meals last night, Prawn Laksa and Bang Bang chicken. Both were superb,

Most definitely.

thought I’d slipped into a parallel world on my own for a minute.

does anyone have the quote about it going wrong when women got the vote? I think that was my favourite one.

I’ve just been to M&S (actually the only place we food shop generally), my family requested in group text - chilli crispy beef, duck pancakes, prawn toasts, salt and pepper chicken, fully loaded chicken shawarma, cheese coleslaw, pesto pasta salad, mackerel pate, those white unripe looking strawberries that are actually perfection, cotton candy grapes.

The strawberries are amazing aren't they. I bought some for my mum for Mother's Day last year (she asked for fruit so I did her a fruit basket) and she loved them too. Hopefully they'll have some this year as I plan to get her the same again.

TheMorels · 08/03/2025 15:02

They’ve had them in my local store for a few weeks now!

Wow, do they do these. I've only ever seen them in the big boxes of biscuits we get for work.

Yeah also chocolate covered bourbons!! Amazing.

Whataninterestinglookingpotato · 08/03/2025 19:36

I brought some of their triple chocolate cookies for work yesterday. Bloody lovely they were.

teen DDs and I also loves their layered Mexican dip with salted tortillas. Yum!

2025willbemytime · 08/03/2025 19:38

I saw mussels in garlic and shallot sauce and another pack in white wine and parsley sauce. Has anyone had them?

Comedycook · 08/03/2025 19:39

First thing I'd do if I won the lottery is do a full weekly shop at m & s!

Ilovelurchers · 08/03/2025 19:44

Their frozen chips are way better than frozen chips from anywhere else. I will literally make a special trip just for the chips - nowhere else compares!

Their steaks have also been good when I have had them. And the sourdough you mention. Their quiche is also different.

And when I used to drink alcohol, I seem to recall one of their canned cocktails was amazingly lush - a pineapple one?

The food is generally lovely. I can't afford to shop there for food all the time, but if I ever get a voucher from there I go straight to the food hall......
