Homeopathy for threadworms

Rainbow24x · 04/03/2025 21:57

Has anyone used a homeopath for treatment of threadworms when mebendazole has not worked?

For info: we have taken it multiple times and we are doing everything in our power to get rid of them. Keeping on top of all the cleaning, showering etc etc

Homeopathy is bunkum

BodyKeepingScore · 04/03/2025 22:01

Homeopathy is absolute nonsense.

Rainbow24x · 04/03/2025 22:07

Take medical advice, not pricey water.

Medical advice is that mebendazole should work and there isn’t anything else they can prescribe. Taken it multiple times and it hasn’t worked

Yes.

You can get rid of them without drugs by breaking the oral-faecal route.

Strict hand washing routine, short nails, pants on overnight, regular bedding changes.

I've only once resorted to treating threadworms, other than that one time (on holiday in a tent!) we've always managed to break the cycle within a week. That makes it sound like we have them all the time but I've got kids with big age gaps so have been in threadworm and headlice territory for 20 years so far 🤣

Put a clove of garlic up your bum

ArtTheClownIsNotAMime · 04/03/2025 22:14

Yes, we drink water every day. Sadly it doesn't kill threadworms.

Oh How I wish it could be that easy for us. We do all of the above and just can’t shift them. Handwashing and scrubbing nails all the time. My hands are so dry and cracked. Changing beds every 1-2 days and washing on a high temp. Getting washed as soon as we are up in the morning. It’s so difficult to deal with

New thread

How can I get rid of French threadworms?

dinklu · 04/03/2025 22:18

😂😂

northwestgirl · 04/03/2025 22:19

so much depends on who has it and how much they will adhere to the hygiene rules though
I can just about remember having them as a child, it was intensely itchy, I can't imagine a child with the discipline not to scratch

VelvetDreams · 04/03/2025 22:19

If none of the treatments are working, are you 100% sure it’s threadworm?

we haven’t found them hard to get rid of either.

northwestgirl · 04/03/2025 22:20

yes- good point

vodkaredbullgirl · 04/03/2025 22:21

Swallow a bird, to catch the worms 😆

MrsMalaga · 04/03/2025 22:22

They can be such a bugger to get rid of.

SCRUPULOUS hygiene - wear a fresh pair of latex gloves when wiping yourself / washing and cleaning loo every time it’s been used

everyone has their own towels

kids in PJs every night to stop them itching the skin round their bum and the sucking theirs fingers 😫

improve your gut health - poor stomach acid can be an issue

lots of raw veg - a few days of v low calorie diet

and yep, repeat doses of mebendazole

reinforcing good hygiene for all members of the family

good luck!

roycroppersshopper · 04/03/2025 22:26

Pumpkin seeds are good to eat, worms don't like them. There is a supplement that you can take too. I'll see if I can find the details. But as everyone else says, I always take medicine too! Are there not two different types of meds available?

L0bstersLass · 04/03/2025 22:26

Sorry I have no advice on anything practical, other than don't waste your money on homeopathy. Seems to be useful advice above, good luck - it sounds like a nightmare.

Happyinarcon · 04/03/2025 22:27

I would definitely try homeopathic treatment. I haven’t tried it myself but most of my aliments have been treated successfully through alternative practitioners

This gets tricky once you've swallowed a dog to catch the cat that you swallowed to catch the bird. It's very difficult to find large predators at Morrisons.

The only thing that has ever been cured by homeopathy is mild dehydration.
