Homeopathy for threadworms

Rainbow24x · 04/03/2025 21:57

Has anyone used a homeopath for treatment of threadworms when mebendazole has not worked?

For info: we have taken it multiple times and we are doing everything in our power to get rid of them. Keeping on top of all the cleaning, showering etc etc

White flakes doesn't sound like thread worms. They're actual tiny white worms.

Oh How I wish it could be that easy for us. We do all of the above and just can’t shift them. Handwashing and scrubbing nails all the time. My hands are so dry and cracked. Changing beds every 1-2 days and washing on a high temp. Getting washed as soon as we are up in the morning. It’s so difficult to deal with

Are you treating everyone in the home with mebendazole and not just the person who has the worms?

Get a small bottle and fill.it with tap water. Voila, you have a homeopathic 'medicine'.

Yes, threadworms look exactly like pieces of white cotton thread, usually around 1.5 to 2 cm long and they move slowly but in a writhing motion. You don't see them moving in the day time, they come down to the anus at night and you can actually see them emerging. You can see them in stools if it is a bad infestation. They look nothing like flakes.

CerealPosterHere · 05/03/2025 06:55

Yes thread worms aren’t flakes. You will see them in poo wriggling like anything.

partyboob · 05/03/2025 06:16

How certain are you that it's definitely threadworms? Have you seen actual worms in everyone's poo?

Seen them in my own stool a few weeks ago

I would also have everyone sleeping in underwear under their pjs to limit how much they can escape. And that would include dh wearing briefs not boxers. Vaseline dabbed round your bum hole at night will also stop them coming out.

i see someone has mentioned pumpkin seeds, afaik they have to be ground up. I give my dog a teaspoon of ground up pumpkin seeds every day, I do this rather than worming her. There s some evidence for it…..god knows how many tablespoons you’d need as an adult. Or if it works for people. I’d keep going with the proper medicine and everything else including nighttime knickers and Vaseline.

I have pumpkin seeds here. I didn’t know they had to be ground up, thanks

Is there anywhere at all that one of you could be picking up eggs in between treatments?

Family members outside the home say they don’t have them no signs or symptoms

Reduce sugar intake. They thrive on glucose.

Is that the only time you've seen them? I'd be thinking this isn't threadworms if so.

Princessconsuelabananahammock9 · 05/03/2025 07:37

New tooth brushes and keep them in a cabinet.

Disposable hand towels for now.

They can appear like pieces of skin on your underwear if you look into it. Sometimes looks like very small pieces of thread. Not moving. I think this is from the eggs hatching and making there way back inside.

Eat pineapples.
Wash and wash your hands.

IncessantNameChanger · 05/03/2025 07:42

If you have a prepayment prescription card or young kids get the medication from the gp. It's the same stuff but cheaper as its expensive. Treat everyone but do three cycles of treatment.

I'm pretty sure having a washing machine in the kitchen doesn't help things.

endofthelinefinally · 05/03/2025 07:43

Is the itching really intense? I am just wondering if it could be something else? The most reliable test is the midnight torch patrol. (Shudders at the memory). Lots of vaseline round the anus can trap them so they are clearly visible.

WoopsLiza · 05/03/2025 07:43

My seriously hippy friend, who wouldn't use conventional medicine (a discussion for another thread) cured her then 8yr old DD through 1. hygiene stuff upthread but tbh nothing more than hand washing, knicker wearing, towel management and 2 (sorry everyone) getting her child to squat after her bath and mildly push and while my friend caught emerging worms on a cotton bud. Everyone thoroughly washed again after the fishing expedition. I think she had to do it two or three nights then again a week or so later and then maybe one more time.

Ftr the child is a gloriously happy and well adjusted teenager albeit sometimes prone to oversharing

partyboob · 05/03/2025 07:53

I see you have several threads on this. I think that perhaps it isn't worms and that you need to look at another cause for the itching.

Medical advice is that mebendazole should work and there isn’t anything else they can prescribe. Taken it multiple times and it hasn’t worked

So sugar pills/water with no active ingredient will help instead?
Cop on. Go to the Dr and get an alternative medicine.

Diatomaceous Earth is meant to help clear internal parasites and the like.

There's always an alternative. albendazole or pyrantel pamoate

This, plus if you're DCs are at school have you informed them about the recurrent problem (anonymously, if preferred)? lf all families are made aware they can check and treat if necessary to break the cycle.

I change the toothbrushes regularly and keep them on a shelf up high in the bathroom

This might be the issue. When you flush a loo particles from the loo go everywhere, even if you have the loo seat down. Put them in a cupboard or out of the bathroom. Also make sure everyone washes hands before brushing teeth.
