Apart from World of Wedgwood ( already booked) what should a 3 generation group of adults ( the most elderly of whom doesn't walk too far) do/visit and where should we eat this weekend? Staying in Hanley, breakfasting at hotel.
Thank you

Thank you so much for all the info above, I'm sorry for jumping on an old thread but just wondering about a few days here with kids over half term. See a few potteries, try and tie in with trip to Alton towers? People are so scathing about the town, but it sounds like there's loads to see and family are from the area way back when so would like to see it. Any thoughts very welcome.

I stayed at this hotel in August. Lovely room, very comfortable, easy parking and the staff were so friendly. I was at a conference so sadly didn't see too many of the sights.

@Glystl if I was staying in S-o-T with kids for a few days I'd consider:

-Alton Towers (it's a tiring day though!)
-walking at the Roaches, near Leek (loads of cafes and nice independent shops in Leek) or at Dimmingsdale (excellent caff called the Ramblers' Retreat)
-the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery, combined with Slamwich Club in Hanley for lunch
-visit to Middleport Pottery, ideally tied in with one of it's pottery-decorating workshops (or do it at Emma Bridgewater instead but that's more expensive)
-Clip'n'Climb at Stone, depending on your kids ages and the weather
-trip out to Rudyard Lake to hire a rowing boat, again depending on kids ages and weather (good bacon butties at the caff there, or a meal at the Lake Hotel)

Love these ideas, thanks so much. Will do some investigating!
