Why would you do click and collect?

I did during covid
I used to do online delivery but you dont always get what you want, you have a minimum spend,
I like to vary between shops.
so rarely do online shopping.
the negative of click and collect is surely the same, you dont get what you want?
I guess there is less temptation?

I think it's marvellous! Paying 50p to have your shopping done for you, pop by and pick up from way home from work, perfect 👌 Have never had any issues with sell by dates and rarely subs.

I've done in a taxi before .
When i don't drive & I don't want it to take 2 hours...then wait o/s in the rai for a cab in the car park .
Now there is amazon and deliveroo & same day delivery & u don't pay a fiver for delivery so....this was in the past. I guess it would be useful if you were short on time or on holiday somewhere or going somewhere and just needed to chuck in the car & go .

@Pinkproseccolady Sorry to hear that, hope your treatment goes well Flowers

I have a 1 year old and a 3 month old so I often do it as I can leave them both in their car seats while I pack up the boot, rather than drag them both around the supermarket.

I also do home delivery, but you can usually get a click and collect slot earlier in the week, if needed.

Silverfoxette · 03/03/2025 15:51

We stopped because the service from staff was terrible. They left half the stuff off the list as out of stock, I ended up getting out of the car to go in and get the things they left out which were on the shelves.

We live in the middle of nowhere and no one delivers to us, so we use click and collect a lot. I get a slot when I'm going to be passing, takes me five minutes. I hate trawling round the supermarket and I always get tempted by random stuff I don't need.

To be fair, the picking is often done early in the morning before deliveries have come in/been put out. Just because its on the shelf when you go into the store doesn't necessarily mean it was available to the pickers.

Tumblingthrough · 03/03/2025 19:17

I must be lucky.
With both delivery and c&c I rarely have replacements or anything out of stock.

biscuitsandbooks · 03/03/2025 19:18

Because supermarkets stress me out (autistic) and I would rather stick pins in my eyes than go into one and do my food shop. I'd rather risk substitutions or missing items.

ChickenNuggetDreamland · 03/03/2025 19:29

Because I can't think of anything worse than pushing a trolley around a supermarket every week. Rather pay someone else to do it for me.

Familysquabbles23 · 03/03/2025 20:13

Tried shopping with a crazy 2 yr old lately?

Your local LIDL probably doesn't play music, if that helps.

neighboursmustliveon · 04/03/2025 08:25

I did click and collect for a few years then switched to delivery. It suited me. Although my husband is currently responsible for shopping due to my diet and he prefers to shop twice a week in person.

I rarely swap between shops, Sainsbury’s has everything I need. I would only go to another shop if it was there and I had to pop in for something unexpected.

I’ve rarely had issues with poor produce and dodgy substitutions so it’s not an issue. I HATE doing a big shop in person. Pushing around the trolly, people getting in my way, packing shopping then multiple trips from the car. Why wouldn’t I have someone bring it all to my door?

biscuitsandbooks · 04/03/2025 08:27

@selffellatingouroborosofhate I don't have a local Lidl Grin thank you though!

But it's not really the music for me, just the lights and atmosphere and crowds. Makes me shudder just thinking about it!

Yourcatisnotsorry · 08/03/2025 10:38

Driving past the supermarket after work and don’t want to waste time picking?
If you can’t have deliveries due to anxious dogs or difficult parking for the van.
shop as Asda but want to pretend to your neighbours it’s waitrose?
If you like delivery but not subs so you can nip into the shop after your click and collect if anything is missing?
Personally I just get deliveries though!

LSGXX · 08/03/2025 10:42

I cannot be arsed to waste a second in supermarkets. I use Tesco and use club card points to pay for the 'delivery saver' scheme.

I do a .com delivery once or twice a week (£50 minimum) but if I need a top-up shop I do a C&C (£25 minimum) and get my husband to swing by on the way home from work.
