I take a blanket to the cinema 🤷‍♀️😂

I listen to podcasts or radio shows not because I’m remotely interested in the content but because I find the voices of certain hosts/people very relaxing

I too rub my feet together in bed like a cricket! It's so soothing. I wash up after each meal and especially dinner and bleach the sink. I cannot bear walking into lots of dirty dishes in the morning.

I'm trying to stop doing laundry everyday but it's already piling up ...

tillytoodles1 · 25/02/2025 18:20

When I'm cooking veg, I always have to make sure they're cut into even numbers. I count them and either peel some more, or throw the odd one away if I'm using large potatoes.
If I'm having ice in a drink, then its either 3 cubes or 5. I don't know why I do it, I just do, always have.

And my daughter has realised that we are probably the only family that refer to the reduced section in the supermarket as the 'eat or die' section, after she was with her friends and called it this , and they looked at her like she was nuts. Grin.

One of my friends calls it 'Salmonella Corner'.

I have a hot water bottle in the office. I don't like theme parks, action movies or zip wires. I'm not 80+.

Can't touch a washing up sponge or kitchen cloth (or bathroom cloth for that matter) without rubber gloves on.

I’m the same plus I will never go into a bathroom without slippers

LeylaOfCircassia · 25/02/2025 18:52

I love some of these.

I always eat cheese on toast with jam on the side, I break a bit off and spoon jam onto it. My and my family all do this.

I set my alarm for a multiple of 9 and have it go off every 9 mins because I like the 9 times table and its pattern. Think 0609, then 0618.

I "touch type" what someone is saying with my hands in my pockets when I am talking with someone.

Me too!!

BBC Sounds thinks I speak Welsh because I sometimes listen to Welsh nature podcasts. I like the sound of their voices in the background but have no idea what they're talking about!

thrifty24 · 25/02/2025 18:59

When I pass people who look similar to well known people etc, in my head, I'll say oh hello (insert well known persons name)

Same here! Is it a sensory thing or a germ thing for you?! Probably both for me 😂

I can’t do one thing at a time. So if I’m doing the dishwasher I’ll empty a few things, then tidy a shelf, the empty the bin then back to the dishwasher then clean the sink then tidy a cable it’s infuriating in some ways but now I’ve just accepted it. It all gets done but not in any order.

I made words out of other words on repeat in my head. Think this is from being a child with no phone sitting reading signs and being bored or worried at the doctors.

I’ve taken a blanket to my reclining seat cinema for years.

I do this too. I think it's boredom (maybe ADHD?)

Similarly, if I'm working through a long spreadsheet at work, I can't just work from top to bottom. I start at the top for a while, then I move down to the bottom and work up until I get to the point I left off.

Ladamesansmerci · 25/02/2025 19:02

I have OCD so do many odd things tbh. I have to chew food equally on both sides. If one hand touches something (like brushes against the wall), the other needs to touch it at the same pressure. I'm similar with feet and walking.

I also have ADHD so have a lot of random vocal stims. I'll just be chilling in my house and suddenly will randomly meow or whatever.

I did last time because the time before I was freezing.
DH was mortified. The DC were jealous. I was toasty warm Smile

I was shown by an old boyfriend how to fold any pub snack packet into a triangle when I was about 17. I have done this ever since with most packets and wrappers, even other people’s snack wrappers. It’s tidy.
I have never seen anyone else do it.
My husband and I both talk to our dogs. They understand…..selectively!

AdeptQuail · 25/02/2025 19:15

If I have chip shop chips, then I have loads of salt and vinegar on them. But, if I have homemade chips then I have HP Sauce on them and no salt (or vinegar).

outdooryone · 25/02/2025 16:10

I don't tend to do any sauces - I hate vinegar or acid taste.
So no ketchup or brown sauce, no vinaigrette or any other dressings.

Me too!

The only sauce I will (very very rarely) have is BBQ.

Mayonnaise ? 🤢 and they stick it in every shop made sarnie.

I do this! Every bag of crisps I have eaten since I was 18 has been folded into a triangle!

I have to arrange things around the house in the house in odd numbers. Plants, pictures etc

newkettleandtoaster · 25/02/2025 15:08

So where is your tv? Is this because the living room should be for socialising / relaxing?

I have a small TV in the bedroom.
Modern TVs are just too large to have anywhere, but even smaller ones are incredibly distracting. And when they are turned off, they're still distracting, not to mention ugly. I don't want something ugly in my sitting room, so I have bookshelves in both alcoves instead.

I know someone who does this - but they were male.

I tie mine in a knot.

TimeWarSoldier · 25/02/2025 20:02

I say goodbye to the house every morning, despite the fact there's no-one in it when we leave.

NameChangedOfc · 25/02/2025 20:17

I absolutely HAVE to know where a new noise comes from. Even if it means waking up in the middle of the night to investigate. I can't let it go at all.
