I take a blanket to the cinema 🤷‍♀️😂

Normally, I avoid credit cards like the plague; as a student when I got my first one, I didn't really understand what they were for. However, somebody told me about using it and paying it promptly to give yourself a good credit rating; and I have once used the protection of getting your money back for non-service.

Ginburee · 28/02/2025 00:19

If I leave the house and its empty I wave and blow kisses to the upstairs windows.
I also love a hard boiled egg in a curry- will try the banana.

I go to sleep in the recovery position and do fi ger tapping, I also stroke my neck and shoulder.

Weirdly, an ex of mine also showed me how to do the crisp-packet-into-triangle thing. Here's the instructions for anyone who's interested. I come across it all the time on Pinterest/ YouTube etc, so there's a lot of people do it. I don't do it any more probably because it reminds me of him

I also can't stand being barefoot. Hate dust and grit on my feet. Sends me into an Autistic meltdown. Ditto, sand.

I also sing a little song to my washing machine finishing tune. Such a happy little ditty. I often think of the focus group that chose the tune (I'd imagine) and think they chose well.

That's not the way I do it! I can't explain how I do it though, my hands just do it by themselves, I can't think how!

FortunateCatsGlugDaquirisAllEveningBlindly · 01/03/2025 12:44

@RainbowZebraWarrior Nooo! Now everyone is going to get in on the packet folding act!

If the internet doesn’t give the game away my ex may have…. 😂

6’ 4” blond-ish hair, into rock music….folds packets into triangles.

Haha. My ex was 6ft 2 with brown hair but also into rock music. Went to Glastonbury every year. Maybe there's a link... I could easily see this little party trick being passed around a group of like minded music lovers in a pub garden or festival.

Omg same here! But I do it when I'm anxious, in a hurry etc. I was clutching my thumb in my fist when I was first born.
Is it just one hand? Which one? And is it your dominant hand or not?

Its mainly my right hand, which is my dominant hand.
Years ago I broke my right wrist and wss in a cast for.a while I started to do it with my.left.

trainedopossum · 04/03/2025 10:45

Family mine is my right hand too but my left is dominant.

That's funny that you started doing it with your left when the right hand was unavailable. My left thumb doesn't fit as neatly. The right thumb seems to naturally and comfortably fold at a right angle into my actual palm whereas the left goes to the crease at the base of my fingers.

My mother thought I'd been born missing a thumb 😀 it's one of the stories she tells about my birth. As an adult I 'caught myself' doing it and the penny dropped that this thing I do clenching my hand is the thing I was born doing.

Not sure if this is weird or not but I often go back to the same place in a dream but it can be months apart. And these places only exist in my dream.

I also remember dreams I had months or even years ago. My dreams are often really vivid and sometimes they stay with me throughout the day like a sort of echo. Best way I can describe it!

Edited

Me too! And the next dream is like a sequence or next episode and I can remember while dreaming ah yes this x and x place from x time ago and the plot is now continiuing. So weird and so vivid😊

LillyPJ · 10/04/2025 08:23

When I'm reading a book, I keep working out how far I am through it - like two-thirds or seven-ninths.

TheTwinklyLemur · 02/05/2025 18:20

My parents' Oxford English Dictionary from the mid 20th century defined masturbation as "practising self abuse"! Sorry, but I like to look up words in the old dictionary that do not necessarily have the same meaning that they have today, like "gay".

I like milk on hot puddings (like apple pie or rhubarb crumble). All my family does, but dh says we're all weirdos. Especially as I can't stand milk any other way at all!

You should have been introduced to evaporated milk. Haven’t had it for years, but delicious

TiredAllNight · 09/07/2025 22:40

You can still get evaporated milk, but I can’t find sterilised cream yet ! ( it’s in a tin can )

Empress13 · 10/07/2025 00:05

I have conversations with myself when walking the dog

DilemmaDelilah · 10/07/2025 12:48

I'm autistic... So many things!

I like my foods separate on my plate and have to have a clear space in which to assemble my mouthfuls. (I do eat things together, but I have to have control over what's on my fork)
I like to take the crispy crumb off my fish fingers, then I eat the inside with the peas and make a crispy crumb and tomato sauce 'sandwich' to eat afterwards (with a knife and fork - I'm not a heathen!)
I don't like having my feet covered by my duvet in bed - unless I'm really really cold
I can't bear being late (and hate it when other people are late)
I can read more than one book at a time (and listen to a different audiobook)

There are lots of other things

Balloonhearts · 10/07/2025 12:54

I always got told as a teenager, never to sit near anyone with a blanket in the cinema as weirdos masturbate under them. But this was during the early 2000s when people getting flashed at the cinema was commonplace.

Oh! I sweep the old year out of the front door at New Year. That's a bit weird. 😀
Im so doing this next year x

Also the blanket thing!!!!

I pluck the hairs from my toes (had a drunken conversation with friends one night, turns out three of us do it, three obviously never had hair on their toes and their flabbers were well and truly gasted 😅

I say hi to dogs when we’re out for a walk and passing the other side of the road- the owner generally thinks I’m saying it to them so I don’t get looks!

I point to things at night as I check they’re off, so kettle switch, cooker switch, no plugs where people charge phones. I had a dodgy time when I was quite low in another house and I’d feel I had to this a number of times before I could go to bed and I did worry that I couldn’t not do it.

By the way op I love this thread!!

idrinkandiknowthings · 10/07/2025 13:35

I have to tuck my earlobes into my ears before I put earrings in. They don't feel right if I don't.

I can't bear the feel of the inside of my knees touching together, skin to skin, and the same with my ankles.

idrinkandiknowthings · 10/07/2025 14:04

re. the crisp packet triangle thing, I make a loose fist, lay the packet on top then press it into the fist and tuck in the sides until it makes a neat ball.

Do you leave them tucked in, or untuck them again?!

Mayoavoider · 10/07/2025 15:42

Sometimes I count my fingers in a very specific order. Thumb is number one and little finger is number five. I use the thumb on each hand to tap each finger, starting with the little finger. My pattern is 54321, 43215, 32154, 21543, 15432. I’ve done it as long as I can remember, only when hands are already down by my sides and I’m standing/walking. I still probably do it at least once a week. If I start, I have to complete the whole pattern!

If I have a tuna sandwich, I put mint sauce with it. Introduced to this by a friend that also hates mayonnaise. Actually, I suppose hating mayonnaise probably makes me weird too.

I think it’s weird people deliberately spread things like covid and that certain institutions practically mandate it, even though there are millions just in England living with the health impacts of covid.

I find coffee ‘too harsh’ first thing in the morning, but have no problem drinking it late at night.

XenoBitch · 10/07/2025 15:51

I put salt in my coffee.

Mayoavoider · 10/07/2025 18:37

Did that start as an accident, but then you liked the flavour?

No, was something I saw on Reddit. I don't have coffee at home (only when out), and I read that if it is bitter, then to add a bit of salt. It is only a small pinch... not a teaspoon.

Another blanket-at-the-cinema person here! I only ever go to ones with reclining seats too, so the blanket is the cherry on top.

I have to tap an egg three times before I attempt to crack it. Which, now I've written it, doesn't seem that weird.

Oh! I sweep the old year out of the front door at New Year. That's a bit weird. 😀

Sweepung the old year out was common in Scotland.
I remember a cleaning frenzy on Auld Year's Day as a child. In between the baking frenzy (madiera cake, sultana cake, Dundee cake, rock buns...God forbid there was no food to take first footing or offer guests).
Stems from superstition that cleaning on New Year's Day is bad luck and will sweep good fortune away.
Though I'm sure the Scots will have added avoidance of upsetting "The De'il" in there too. Our religious practices seem to be far more about not rattling the Devil than actually pleasing God. 😬
