Just read a sweet comment on The Times website saying that they named their daughter after Roberta Flack (who's just passed away)...

My daughters middle name was inspired by Yuri Gagarin's wife Valentina - He was ace, such a winning smile and his missus supported him big time. She was also mates with another Valentina - the first woman in space.

My big lad has a middle name - Rocco - we absolutely loved Madonna and that's the name of one of her sons.

I remember saying at the time that it would be a reminder of when we were young and liked music etc.

How amusing it is to see that 20 odd years later, that same boy absolutely loves Madonna...saw her last year at the 02. Twice.

Tell me there are Justins (Bieber), Harrys (Styles), Amy's (Winehouse), Sorchas (Ronan), Hermiones (Granger), Zadies (Smith) etc etc out there...anyone wanna own up to giving a child's name bc of one of their heroes?

No kids (CF by choice), but I've always wanted a miniature dachshund or schnauzer, and if I get a boy I'm going to call him Jurgen. Guess who I support? 🤣

Yes.

You wouldn't know though.

Spookily enough the famous actor who passed away just today is part of the reason I have a G at the end of my User Name.

We liked a number of Genes - Wilder, Clark and Vincent more tbh, but thought the name would be a good one...seems a bit weird now really, maybe - but the boy enjoys - plenty of odd names around, so he's fine...

My DS was born a couple of years before Brad Pitt became famous. I got so sick of people saying, oh like Brad Pitt, because he was called Bradley 30 years ago, before it became a popular name for boys.

One of my sons is named in part after my favourite musician. ( It's also a family name) Funny, because although he's very musical, it's his brother who plays that instrument, not him.

Middle child has his middle name after Leonard Rossiter.
I like Leonard.
And I loved Rising Damp.

My husband and I are both history buffs as was my late mother and I was named after a medieval queen so we stuck to the theme and named them both after medieval queens. We like the tribute but also that most people wouldn't notice unless they were also big history lovers as they're also relatively common names.

They both also have middle names after one of our grandmothers (older one is after my grandma and younger one after his grandma who died when older one was a year old).
