Help, I am so bunged up I want to cry (TMI)

Weight loss jab. They do warn you can get a bit constipated. I’ve not really been since Friday.

I’m so, so bunged up I’ve just had to try and manually evacuate (hell, but if I didn’t I was going to tear I think) and I’m going to have to nip to the late chemist for something. Enema, f**k knows... I’ve taken two senna but pack says they’ll take eight hours.

It’s so painful, and embarrassing, it’s unreal. I even thought in my misery of going to urgent care but what can they do?

Gycerin suppositories will work then think about upping your fibre and fluid
I'd use movicol/ fybogel sachets( must drink lots of fluids) until normality is restored

@SnoopySantaPaws yes the anti sickness is a must , I agree. Nausea and constipation, are preferable to 🤮

Wonder why your friend didn't get the anti sickness?

I don't know. She's not from the UK and English is her second language combined with a completely different type of upbringing. She can be fairly difficult to communicate with so it's always fairly difficult to really know what's going on but after the first time she was sure to ask for it!!

WillIEverBeOk · 28/02/2025 14:46

I really think you should skip the meeting OP and go straight to the nearest A&E. The sooner you are there the less hours you have to wait.

A&E’s hell here, regularly take patients over and it’s a living hell. There was someone on an IV drip on a trolley outside WHSmith last time I went. Like a third world country. So definitely not going, I’d still be there tomorrow night from experience … I did ask if urgent care could help but they don’t carry meds so told I’d be as well seeing a GP. I’m going to ask Boots if they sell enemas whilst I’m there. My poor colleagues (2 of them anyway) have been very sympathetic and kind!

On my way home now at least, chemist promised she’d have everything ready for me. Fingers crossed.

I think this is an extreme reaction to WLJ’s.

Are you going to stop them?

If I can get this sorted and get on regular laxatives m, probably not - I maybe should but I’m 22 stone and on mirtazapine (appetite stimulant), I’ve got shedloads to lose and it is helping - I’ve lost over a stone this month - (out with this horrible situation) so I don’t think I want to stop just yet, if I can. GP etc are aware I’m taking it - I’m on waiting list to discuss surgery etc so see what hospital say when I see them.

You probably do need an enema at this point, keep going with the suppostries though it might crack it.
. I cycle pears for breakfast, tinned peaches for lunch then prunes just before bed. I’ve found squatting on the toilet help. I drink 2 litres of water throughout the day and eat wholewheat everything.

Totototo · 28/02/2025 17:01

The issue is to look for strangulated bowel. Sounds like your bowels are inflamed too may develop diverticulitis.

You describe constipation on another scale and the WLI is obviously having a profound attack on your motility.

I suggest you fast for 36 hours get everything cleared out and really look at what you are eating. At the moment you are backing up and backing up and creating a haven for bacteria and inflammation.

incandescentglow · 28/02/2025 17:27

has anyone suggested a salt water flush?? they generally work for me in around an hour, has saved me a fair few times

they are very unpleasant to drink and have put me off himalayan salt HOWEVER its a good remedy x

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 28/02/2025 17:37

When I was using Wegovy I used to take Lactulose twice a day every single day or I almost instantly became constipated. This didn’t happen once I changed to Mounjaro.

seriouslybungedup · 28/02/2025 17:43

2 supps later and I’ve been, praise God. Absolute agony, but I’ve been. Also been for a massive wee. I’ve taken two of the softeners, and two more senna. I’m shattered.

@Totototo

she’s not having the jabs for the fun of it is she it’s because she needs them. And she asked for help with a side effect not for advise on where she should stop the injections

hallelujah! make sure you're drinking a LOT of water, 3 litres ideally and don't slack, im on the jabs too and as soon as relax with the water i get these problems too
fruit is also very beneficial, as soon as i stop eating fruit i basically come to a standstill

baddayformeredith · 28/02/2025 18:23

Depending on how much you passed you may still be backed up so keep taking the medication to keep things moving. Hopefully you can get a handle on what laxatives to take to keep things regular.
Glad it's worked for you finally Flowers

Bornnotbourne · 28/02/2025 19:21

Bless you!! You’ll sleep better tonight! Put some Vaseline round your bum if you’re sore.

glittercunt · 28/02/2025 19:30

You're not alone. I'm not even on the jabs and had to do the most traumatising manual disimpaction the xmas before last. I'd never had to do that before, despite the type of bowel problem I was born with. I managed to tear. The problem is, that at a certain point, its just not possible to soften everything in the bowel, so you can get the urge but it won't manually fit. I've got an anal douche, it was hard to use it but helped. I'll never not have vaseline and disposable medical gloves in the bathroom now 😬

Tiree1965 · 28/02/2025 20:37

I’d recommend taking a couple of psyllium capsules a day as they can help to keep you regular once you clear the backlog. They’ve made a difference for me while I’m on Mounjaro.

Phunkychicken · 28/02/2025 20:43

I regularly go 2+ weeks between ‘goes’ but I don’t understand why you are not taking movicol daily ? Obviously the jabs are reducing your appetite so you’ve got far less bulk going in, they’d be much much more effective and less painful than the bisacodyl? The cramps that gives when you’re a bit blocked are unreal. DH has tried to call me an ambulance before.

Much better to increase the bulk and softness with movicol, and make sure you’re drinking litres of water

GoldPoster · 28/02/2025 20:52

I had surgery last year, before I went in I bought a box of Laxido on line, because when I had the surgery before I was in the same state as you. When I got out I followed the impaction regime. Instructions are in the box. It worked brilliantly

Nat6999 · 28/02/2025 20:57

Dulcoease, take 2 then 1 every 4 hours, drink gallons of fluids, alternate fresh orange juice & water, eat kiwi fruit as well, they are an excellent source of fibre.

Nat6999 · 28/02/2025 21:10

I was horrifically bunged up when I had pneumonia, I took the dulcoease & sat on the toilet drinking double strength black coffee with loads of brown sugar in with it, my mum kept on bringing me refills, it took 4 cups to get rid of it all. The effort of pushing it all out put me back in bed for 24 hours, I've made sure that I never let things get so bad again, if I miss going for one day, I get on the dulcoease straight away.

seriouslybungedup · 28/02/2025 22:25

Thanks so much everyone xx I’ve managed to go again this evening, had a lot of water and taken another 2 softeners - and stuck another supp up there, as think there is still more dry/hard to come sadly. I’ll ask GP re movicol, something like that or laxido would definitely help. I’ve had laxido before lots when an inpatient so know it works haha. The softeners don’t seem to be doing much so far other than a bit gassy and slightly crampy at times, but fingers crossed.

I did briefly consider douching yes, even thought about the shower thing!! I even thought about asking boots if they sold enemas, but I doubt it.

Poppyfield15 · 28/02/2025 22:35

Movicol/Laxido is what's used for disimpaction, just at higher doses. (GP here). So you would start with 2 sachets 3 times daily and reduce dose according to response until you're getting regular soft stool. Reduce doses slowly, Don't stop suddenly, as you'll be back to square one. If Mounjaro is the cause, stay on a maintenance dose of 1 sachet every other day (or whichever dose gives you 1-2 soft stools a day). Moviefilm/Laxido can be bought OTC. They're identical in composition.

Poppyfield15 · 28/02/2025 22:38

Also make prunes part of your daily snack.
