What time do you go to bed?

My husband goes up at 9.30pm and I think that's silly early?! I suppose he is 49 with a badly sleeping and bedsharing 4 yo!

I go up at around 10pm as I get a bit bored downstairs on my own but never sleep until around 11ish.

My 17 yo is asleep by 10.30 because he's sensible, and my 15 yo...well...silly o' 'clock!!

I just think 9.30pm is early, but happy to stand corrected?

Head upstairs for 10pm..bath and get ready for bed and then in bed by 10:45/11 ish. Quick scroll on here and then asleep usually by 1130ish

Loomy · 23/02/2025 22:31

Go to bed between 7-8pm, watch iPad until 11pm ish then sleep.
DC have monopoly of living room tv

Sheknowsaboutme · 23/02/2025 22:33

Id be more pissed off that a 4 yr old is sharing a bed.

12-12:30 and wake up properly at 7, though I'm usually disturbed by DS2 before then. Any earlier to bed and I'm tossing and turning forever then waking up at 3am for a wee and unable to settle again for a couple of hours.

I set my alarm a bit later at the weekend but usually get woken up before it goes off. I also find it harder to get to sleep for my bit of a lie in.

PenneyFouryourthoughts · 23/02/2025 22:35

It depends. I work shifts, including nights.

Waffle19 · 23/02/2025 22:37

9.30 is normal for me. Tonight is a late one.

I vividly remember as a teenager telling my mum how I couldn’t understand how she could go to bed at 10pm each evening!

LillyPJ · 23/02/2025 22:37

Everybody is different. I'm usually in bed by 10.30 and hate staying up late. But I just listened to Michael Mosley's programme on R4 which said going to bed an hour earlier than usual was good for your health and for losing weight!

Waffle19 · 23/02/2025 22:38

P.S fellow 2020 baby who now fairly regularly Co-sleeps. Although our youngest is much more a sleep thief and doesn’t Co-sleep, I’ll take the Co-sleeping.

TokyoSushi · 23/02/2025 22:40

Anywhere between 10 & 11:30, not a great sleeper so usually get up tired at 7am

Butteredtoast55 · 23/02/2025 22:43

I'm rarely up much later than 9:00/9:30 but I potter about a bit, do my ablutions and a bit of yoga or relaxation stuff then read or watch TV if there's something I want to watch (or scroll and post on MN if I'm awake later after a night out!) When it's been cold and DH is not at home I'll go up much earlier and I'm usually awake and up by 6:00 on a workday and 7:00 on others.

TheChosenTwo · 23/02/2025 22:47

Dh goes up after dinner quite often, to watch telly! It’s more comfy lying in bed with a duvet.
tonight we cleared up after dinner and he went up at about 8:30.

I’m usually up a good few hours after him but he’s up at 6am and isn’t one to lie about in bed in the mornings.

I’ve always been a night owl, for years it was just so I could have some time to myself once dc were in bed and it’s just become a habit.
I usually go to sleep about 1-2am and am up by about 6 although I don’t get out of bed until
closer to 7 unless exercising before work.

Samandytimlucypeterolivia · 23/02/2025 22:49

I go to bed at 10, but most of the time don’t do to sleep till between 12/1 am,.,, DP comes to bed at 10 and usually asleep by 11. Dd12 goes to bed at 9.30, lights out at 10 and usually asleep by 10.15. Ds17 goes to bed at 10, usually don’t go to sleep until anywhere between midnight & 2am.

It deoends what I feel like and what I am doing the next day

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 23/02/2025 22:07

10.30pm - think about going to bed
11.00pm - get into bed (after faffing for half an hour)
11.30pm - switch off the light after reading
6.00am - wake up tired and vow to have an early night the next night...

It doesn't happen as I'd feel cheated of my evening if I went to bed before 10.00pm!

I feel seen!

Franjipanl8r · 23/02/2025 22:54

I’m never asleep before midnight unless I’m ill. My siblings and parents are the same. It must be genetic!

Same! An early night just means a shit nights sleep for me. Sleeping 12.30am - 7am means I can actually get a solid chunk of sleep.

everychildmatters · 23/02/2025 23:39

@Sheknowsaboutme We're both attachment parents so that's how we roll. She also is in the same room as us as no spare anyway!

Between 11.30pm and 1am.

FlowerUser · 23/02/2025 23:45

It changes with age. We go to sleep and wake later as teens then get earlier and wake earlier as we get older. I read that it's evolution. Young and strong people.arr awake at the most dangerous time of night to ward off predators while older people are awake earlier in the morning when it's relatively safer.

DH is 60 and goes to bed at 10, waking at 6. I'm 56 and just about to go to bed but it's a bit late for me. I'll wake up around 8.

Hollyhedge · 23/02/2025 23:59

11-12. I like to enjoy my evening

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 24/02/2025 07:08

When it's dark and miserable outside I love my bed. I go up around 9 and am asleep by 10. In the summer I go up around 11 and straight to sleep.

BitOutOfPractice · 24/02/2025 07:11

ShamrockShenanigans · 23/02/2025 21:52

Anywhere between 1am and 1.30am.

I get up for work at 7.30am and I normally wake up refreshed.

I’m intrigued by this routine. The kids get up for a story? Do you home school or maybe not in uk?

I go between 10 and 11. Read in bed a bit, straight to sleep. I have no trouble dropping off…

Readmorebooks40 · 24/02/2025 07:14

It depends what time you have to get up. I think most people get between 6 - 8 hrs a night. I watch TV and read in bed. Asleep for 11 and up at 6:15.

Monstermashermashedthemonster · 24/02/2025 07:16

On a good night I can be in bed by 10pm. Not that I have many good nights.
On a bad night it could be 3am.

DustyLee123 · 24/02/2025 07:17

I’ve always gone at 10pm and read a book. No phones or TV in my bedroom.
