Need inspiration. We had pasta last night so maybe not pasta.

Have got a bit bored with our standard meals and remembered this, which is easy and different.

Fishcakes from Sainsburys. They’re cod with a cheesy, leeky sauce inside and they go lovely with a baked potato and some sweetcorn.

I have some chicken thighs, I'm going to rub them with lemon juice and apricot jam and roast them with red onions. Served with some sort of potato, maybe mash and green beans.

Georgieporgie29 · 20/02/2025 12:54

Sausage and mash

GRCP · 20/02/2025 13:01

These are sounding good.
Annoyingly we have no oven which limits me slightly but we have a hob, air fryer, George Foreman and microwave.

I'm thinking maybe home made flatbreads with chicken and salad...

Baked marinated pork tenderloin, potatoes mashed with finely chopped kale ( it's a Dutch thing ) glazed carrots and green beans tossed in olive oil and garlic., cole slaw.

DelphiniumBlue · 20/02/2025 13:02

Cottage pie, made with beef mince, slowcooked onions, grated carrot, lined with cabbage & topped with mash. Served with cabbage and whatever other veg I've got left.
It's lovely but takes a long time to prepare and cook.

This sound really good! I often use Cookie & kate recipes, always turn out well.

My American friend is here, and she's teaching us how to make tamales! Going to have them with homemade guacamole, corn on the cob, salad, and some other bits and bobs that I don't know much about. We lived together over ten years ago and loved doing food exchanges. She's originally from Puerto Rico and has such a huge range of exciting recipes.

If it wasn't tamales and I was making it myself, I'd do tacos or burritos.

Prawns in garlic butter to start, then Moussaka, with cake for pudding.

Lasagna here tonight (doesn’t fit with your no pasta plan). Last night we had chilli nachos, night before we had butter chicken if either of those help.

mondaytosunday · 20/02/2025 13:14

Well I'm thinking either whole baked sweet potato with friend onions and chorizo on top with a salad, or stir fry (one of those meal deals from Waitrose of protein, veg, sauce and noodles). Whichever I don't have tonight will be tomorrow's dinner.

cinnamonbunfight · 20/02/2025 13:15

Scrambled eggs, spinach and smoked salmon. Just me at home this evening and it’s what I feel like!

OnlyYellowRoses · 20/02/2025 13:21

Last night was garlic prawn pasta in a carbonara type sauce but DH buggered up the sauce so it went a bit like wallpaper paste 😬
Tonight we've got shawarma chicken (Aldi) with flat breads, yogurt dressing and salad bits

AstronomyDomine · 20/02/2025 13:22

Thursday. Chippy tea. 🙂

metalmutha · 20/02/2025 13:23

We are having Jamie's cajun chicken tray bake. We use thighs instead of legs. A big hit at ours.

I've had a request for chicken, bacon and leek pie (mash topped like cottage pie, mix of white and sweet potato). Served with broccoli and green beans.
If I get a request I tend to make it. More often than not when I ask for suggestions for dinner I get 'whatever'. Which doesn't actually mean whatever.

TheChippendenSpook · 20/02/2025 13:39

I'm having sausage, chips and peas from the chip shop.

CoastalCalm · 20/02/2025 13:40

Sausage and butter bean casserole

Hope this works, you'll like it

It's pasta night here which is not helpful for you! Last night was chicken/veggie burgers with salad, night before was chicken/vegetable fajitas. I'm too tired this week to cook properly as I've had an operation.

RIPVPROG · 20/02/2025 13:59

Can't be bothered tonight so I got some nice sausages from the butcher, will cook them as part of a tray bake with sweet potatoes, peppers, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, carrots, beetroot, red onion some spices and serve with some green veg

Madre123 · 20/02/2025 14:06

Pork chops in bbq sauce in slow cooker, mustard mash and steamed veg.

Sounds delicious. Do you have a recipe for that?

UsernameTaken76 · 20/02/2025 16:31

It’s meant to be chicken and tomato bake with flatbreads, avocado and sour cream. However I just saw a post on there that’s making me want sausages, egg, chips and beans.
