Automatic or manual?

Petrol, diesel or electric?

OP posts:

10 year old manual petrol vw polo with 110,000 on the clock-and hopefully a lot more in it-best car I’ve ever had

Doihavetogotoworkdotcom1 · 18/02/2025 17:29

I’m on our 4th Kia Sportage. Petrol and manual. I love them so much.

Mudflaps · 18/02/2025 17:35

I drive a skoda superb combi 4x4 like the link but mine is a 2ltr diesel, Automatic dsg. I love it, its incredibly comfortable, spacious and lots of extras which makes it just that little bit nicer. It's 4x4 so suits me for shitty rural winter roads, during recent snow which closed schools, businesses etc my husband borrowed it to get to work, he couldn't have made it in his car. I suffer from chronic pain and having this car means I'm not exhausted and in dreadful pain when I drive to see my father, its about 2.5 hours each way. The speaker system is purely unnecessary but so good. The back seat leg space is incredible and the boot is huge. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Petrol manual Vauxhall Crossland
Had it 3 years from almost new (pre registered 12 miles on clock)
We can't have a small car as OH is very tall. I love being high up and find it odd being in a "normal" car now

Automatic petrol 2.0 litre Mini Cooper S. A huge amount of fun to drive. Perfect now I don't have to ferry around teens as they are young adults with their own cars!

Exactly what I drive and I agree that it's absolutely fab to drive!

Ihateboris · 18/02/2025 17:44

Manual Mini John Cooper Works. I absolutely love it. I've only ever had minis! Such good 😁

MarshmallowClouds · 18/02/2025 17:46

Family car, electric automatic, all mod cons.

my car, ten years old, goes like a dream, it’s a little Fiat convertible.

Hamilton6382 · 18/02/2025 17:53

I’ve just bought a new diesel Jaguar F Pace before they stop making them. I had another one previously and it was by far the best car I’ve ever had.

shivbo2014 · 18/02/2025 18:00

Red mini countryman sport, hybrid, Automatic. I love it, my first proper car that I've bought.

Time40 · 18/02/2025 18:06

Petrol manual. Mine is like something from Viz Top Tips - "Make your own classic car by simply keeping the one you already have for a very, very long time." I did, and now it really is.

itsjustbiology · 18/02/2025 18:13

2006 ford focus automatic..I love this car, never had a minutes bother with it ,moved house in it, never ever let me down. Its a workhorse of a car I just cannot part with it for all the tea in china!

Didntask · 18/02/2025 18:17

Auto diesel Merc ML Class. ULEZ compliant, spacious and comfortable.

TizerorFizz · 18/02/2025 18:33

We like our cars. I’ve a BMW i3X. Just got a 9 month old one at a huge saving over new price. New model coming and I hate to think what that will be RRP. DH has a Porsche Macan and Cayman. We have a Land Rover Disco that’s 13 years old and a Mercedes SL300 that’s just had its 34th birthday.

We have had a couple of mini countrymen S cars and they are really good. The new EV one was going to cost more than the BMW though so it’s been bye bye mini. The BMW needs a degree to understand all it can do though. Self reverse felt iffy! It chose a doorway.

Eatinpeachesonthebeaches · 18/02/2025 18:37

2019 Honda Jazz petrol manual. Good solid car.

Darklane · 18/02/2025 18:39

Diesel, manual, thirty eight year old ex MOD Landrover.

Toyota Hybrid, so Electric/Petrol engine (2.0l) with an auto box.

Put it into sports mode and it's great fun, acceleration is brutal.

😂

bugalugs45 · 18/02/2025 18:52

Kia Sportage manual petrol
Looking to go electric for next car which by default is automatic

Seawolves · 18/02/2025 18:57

Huge, diesel and manual. Once the new one comes it will be even bigger, diesel and automatic.

Mine is based on a van. I much prefer auto to manual (and I never thought I'd say that!), hate diesel but electric doesn't have the range I need at the moment hopefully that will improve soon though.

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 18/02/2025 19:02

Boring old Honda jazz think of leasing an electric mini through salary sacrifice:

luckylavender · 18/02/2025 19:06

Manual petrol bright turquoise VW UP. Great fun.

toomanydicksonthedancefloor1 · 18/02/2025 19:09

Audi RSQ3 auto petrol. Lovely to drive and suits my petrol head inner self and is kinda sensible for the kids. However I work in the motor industry. Based on the amount of electrical issues with the latest iterations of VW and Audis I will probably move it on when the warranty runs out and go back to my usual motor, a manual Focus RS.

Oldraver · 18/02/2025 21:03

Ford Fiesta ST, manual and petrol

AND, she has orange seats

CraftyNavySeal · 18/02/2025 21:07

2019 Fiesta, manual petrol

Small but practical and nice to drive, has a bit of oompf. Live in London so next car will be an automatic though.

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 18/02/2025 21:15

Fiesta, love them, so much fun to drive and it's pretty quick off the lights (looking at you revving your engine in your Golf/BMW, they don't expect me to get off before them😂).

So pissed that Ford stopped making them, long before they need to.

I don’t think they realise they’re in a race 😂
