I expected it to be a gesture by the King too. That Zelensky asked, is what's odd.
I wondered if he's stepping down. Sacrificing himself to please the American government. If he feels that he can't work with them, he may have no other choice.

I’m not sure why he’d say to the King. He’s answerable only to the Ukrainian people. I’m not even sure constitutionally he can step down during wartime as there can’t be elections.
