Ffs still can't post images by the looks of it. I had screenshotted this:

"The US Embassy in Stockholm has removed the ”We Stand with Ukraine” banner that has hung on its walls for 3 years. Shame."

@MissConductUS will all US military aid stop immediately, or is there some already in the pipeline that will keep on arriving?

I'm seeing mixed reports. This says no

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/ukraines-zelenskiy-us-military-aid-not-cut-no-talks-new-packages-yet-2025-02-05/

and this more recent item in the NYT says mostly it has

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/28/us/politics/trump-ukraine-weapons.html

There's reportedly still about $4B in funding available. Trump will likely use it as leverage in the negotiations.

DucklingSwimmingInstructress · 01/03/2025 11:48

Thank you.

Igotjelly · 01/03/2025 11:54

Mumsnet actually just had the gall to say on another thread that they handle Russian propaganda robustly πŸ˜‚ I’ve been swithering about whether it’s actually a forum I want to support anymore given the amount of disinformation that’s allowed to stand and then encouraged as β€œfair and open debate”.

PerkingFaintly · 01/03/2025 12:05

Oh @Igotjelly , you'd be so missed if you went.

If it's having too much of an impact on you and you need a break, then it's important to look after yourself. Marathon, not a sprint, and all that.

But overall I think it would be sad if we let the disinformationists degrade or shut down these threads.

Don't you dare! We can still be our own corner

Definitely would be playing into their hands to let disinformation drive us away.

MMBaranova · 01/03/2025 12:37

When I dipped into other threads there was a lot of Putinism.

The one about thinking Trump is Right is honestly just exhausting.

WinterMorn · 01/03/2025 12:59

@Igotjelly it’s exhausting. I totally get it. I am
embroiled in an extremely hostile Facebook row at the moment and the amount of insults and even a couple of veiled threats coming at me is unbelievable (one Andrew Tate type offering to meet me to β€˜sort me out’).

That said, I am pushing back louder and harder and there is an awful lot of support out there too. Don’t be discouraged, this is heading towards a reckoning and we need to stand firm more than ever.

I agree. Despite the Russian propaganda going overtime, there are many many opposing views in support of Ukraine and Zelensky who are clear-eyed about what is going on between Trump and Putin and the implications for European security. I have not noticed it that strongly before but these pro-Ukraine views are coming out of the woodwork from posters whose names I have not seen before.

@Igotjelly stick around with us. I am going to report more bad faith Russian bot posts. Got one deleted already, so one down ...

WinterMorn · 01/03/2025 13:17

In fact, I will go one further. Any Surrey based posters who would like to meet in β€˜real’ life for a coffee, chat or just the chance to blow off some steam, let me know and I am up for it πŸ™‚

If you dare call someone out on something you just get deleted.

littlebilliie · 01/03/2025 13:22

There are loads of bots and Russian trolls on these specific threads

PerkingFaintly · 01/03/2025 13:22

Oh god you will be careful, @WinterMorn ?

I known I sound like someone's mum advising them about internet dating! But I'm a bit cautious about Real Life stuff where people are prominent contributors.

I would just delete Facebook. It really started going downhill a couple of years ago, now it's just full of bots and Farage followers.

I will be fine but thank you ❀️ crime and risk assessment is the core of my day job so I am hyper aware of safety

This aside, it’s the only social media I have. I am involved with a lot of local stuff so it’s pretty essential unfortunately.

Igotjelly · 01/03/2025 13:34

I struggle with MNHQ not being able to understand that it’s not about tell hunting it’s about ensuring that posters aren’t inundated with Russian propaganda. We’re seeing in the US what happens when the far right has influence. It’s not about allowing fair and open debate, it’s about protecting national security and freedom.

minsmum · 01/03/2025 13:39

You've made the case well on these threads with MN allowing disinformation! good work!

I don't know if its Russian bots etc but there does appear to be a concerted effort to push pro Kremlin views and MN seem perfectly ok with this.

I laughed when i first heard the rumours that Trump is/was a Russian asset but after yesterday...

GoldenSunflowers · 01/03/2025 13:54

I see huge support for Ukraine in Latvia and Lithuania. Just everyday shops, buildings, buses etc.

DuncinToffee · 01/03/2025 14:07

Hungary’s Orban has called for the EU to start direct talks with Russia on a ceasefire in Ukraine.

Orban: β€œThere are strategic differences in our approach to Ukraine that cannot be overcome. β€œI will oppose any efforts to build consensus on Ukraine within the EU.”
