What sagas do you enjoy on MN?

Do you enjoy a bridezilla drama, cheeky fuckers bumming free lifts? MIL thinks she's the mum of new baby not grandmum, what about the my mum treats my (infertile) sister's dog better than she treats my human child threads. Or how about the ones where a poster takes care of someone's else's kid and feeds them McD's, the mum then throws a hissy because her kid should have been fed quail eggs and smoked salmon!

I personally enjoy the car parking wars, especially when there's a diagram.

OP posts:

@Frannysnotmyaunt what happened in the case of the disappearing weights from the long case clock in the hall??? think it was a couple of years ago now.

and they keys which were found on a bus which the op did not use???

CeliaCanth · 16/02/2025 19:16

Oh yes @NewHeaven that one was perfect, many boxes ticked! If only we’d had an update!

doneandone · 16/02/2025 19:17

Ooh, CF and parking dramas

Theeyeballsinthesky · 16/02/2025 19:23

i do love a good AIBU when the OP asks, is told by 95% of people that they are BU & then repeatedly insists getting more and more annoyed that they are definitely NBU

im always fascinated by ones where a poster earlier picks up an irrelevant detail and the entire thread gets derailed. There was one a few weeks ago where someone was asking whether it was unreasonable to wonder whether her friends had forgotten they’d invited them for dinner because of the weird atmosphere and the whole thread got hyper focused on whether or not she really needed 15 mins to get changed after work or something equally strange

niche one for FWR regulars on Christmas 23 when dawn butler threatened to report us to the metropolitan police 😁😁 we were all looking forward to being banged up for Christmas and not having to worry about hosting/cooking/cleaning

PandaTime · 16/02/2025 19:23

I'm not a fan of the made-up shite that makes up 95% of the sagas on here.

I like the ones where people find out something they didn't know half the population does differently.

Sitting down/standing up to wipe
Flushing a tampons
Flushing toilet wipes
Brushing teeth in the shower
Washing fruit
Peeling mushrooms

dapsnotplimsolls · 16/02/2025 19:28

Klaxon - we have a 'x stole my baby name' thread in Trending ...

Pudmyboy · 16/02/2025 19:28

I agree with the selections of PPs for general enjoyment but the ones I like the best are ones intended to make people laugh, I have been crying with laughter at them at times and they really cheer me up!
Dressing Gown of Doom and Suzi Quatro's Fat Nan spring to mind!

The Dawn Butler one was amazing - and very informative about ... animals.

I've been my partner for two weeks. He's lied about his age, name, income, job and family. He's cheated on me twice, stood me up four times and publicly ridicules me every time we see each other. Am I just wasting my time here?

Don't forget that he's moved in and the kids love him and call him dad

TheSeaOfTranquility · 16/02/2025 19:32

I like the ones about people's cleaners best, followed by MIL dramas and au pair dilemmas (although there seem to be fewer of the latter since brexit, sadly)

Pedallleur · 16/02/2025 19:33

CFs and inheritance. Just the scams and entitlement that people have when a family member dies. DV ones never fail to anger me as you realise how many crazy men are out there.

CurlewKate · 16/02/2025 19:33

The amazing small minded "won't put yourself out for someone else even if it's going to take you 30 seconds because they are taking advantage" ones.

Oh and he has a criminal record as long as your arm but he was set up every time and his ex wives are bitches because they have restraining orders on him

ThePartingOfTheWays · 16/02/2025 19:36

Anything about money or class always has the potential to get tasty.

Showerflowers · 16/02/2025 19:37

The ones about uninvolved grandparents that actually turn out to be a massive moan about not getting free childcare

Moveoverdarlin · 16/02/2025 18:53

Another CF one I really enjoyed really was the Dyson Airwrap one. Unbelievable CFuckery. The lovely OP honestly thought her friend had lost it but all the cynical Mumsnetters instantly said she’s nicked it. And they were right.

And I avoided it as I thought it was an advert for the Airwrap! Probably missed a good one.

PeggyMitchellsCameo · 16/02/2025 19:41

CFS and cocklodgers are my favourites.
Some threads can be very meaningful and moving.
Some give an insight into lives where people live in such different ways. There have been a few about people who refuse to put the heating on.
Unless finances are an issue, I don’t get it!

Cattery · 16/02/2025 19:46

I’ve cried laughing at some of the first date ick threads. The chap who threw his head back with the jaw snapping up and down whilst eating. The man who ordered tap water then rummaged through his purse of coins. Skid marks on the bed sheets or towel

sprigatito · 16/02/2025 19:47

Nessastats · 16/02/2025 17:08

I like ones where people say what they have or haven't got for eg Christmas/mother's day/valentine's. Not for any reason, i just love seeing into other people's lives on those kinds of occasions.

I live for the Christmas ones where the DH has completely fucked up the present, or hasn't bought one at all. And the ones where people are freezing their arses off at MIL's house being fed mullered sprouts and Bisto. It's become a family tradition that I read the highlights out and everyone cackles. We aren't very nice 😂

Oh Christ I've just remembered the one with the sliders on the headboard!!!!

BatchCookBabe · 16/02/2025 19:49

The 'she stole my baby's name' threads are a hoot!

Soooooooooo many families have members with multiple names, and have had for YEARS, It's utterly farcical and precious and pathetic, to wail, and stamp your feet, because your first cousin three times removed is calling their son 'Okayden' too! 😂

Floralora1 · 16/02/2025 19:53

The "oh I'm so embarrassingly middle class - tinkly laugh" because I eat olives, brie and chorizo - as do most people who chose to and have access to any supermarket in the UK.

The ones where someone is being a CF and the OP stands up to them.

With live text updates too!

Cattery · 16/02/2025 19:55

Or “ I was called posh and I’m insulted. AIBU?”
