What sagas do you enjoy on MN?

Do you enjoy a bridezilla drama, cheeky fuckers bumming free lifts? MIL thinks she's the mum of new baby not grandmum, what about the my mum treats my (infertile) sister's dog better than she treats my human child threads. Or how about the ones where a poster takes care of someone's else's kid and feeds them McD's, the mum then throws a hissy because her kid should have been fed quail eggs and smoked salmon!

I personally enjoy the car parking wars, especially when there's a diagram.

OP posts:

Bridezilla ones are always value for money.

theboffinsarecoming · 16/02/2025 17:39

I'm also quite keen on the ones where people move in to their new place and find random odd articles left behind by the previous owner.

ShowAndGo · 16/02/2025 17:41

I confess I like the apparently mad AIBUs (eg, 'My MIL refuses to speak to my mother', AIBU?) which go on for four baffling pages before a mahoosive, game changing drip feed comes in ('My DM has done nothing to warrant this apart from shagging FIL that time at Centerparcs'). It's like the beat dropping on an old school club banger.

Chuchoter · 16/02/2025 17:46

Ones where the op has a made a massive drama over something that could have been avoided by saying no!

'We are eleventy thousand pounds in debt but I agreed to be my friends bridesmaid for her wedding in Switzerland and the gift alone is costing me twelvety thousands of pounds, shall I pretend to be ill?'

Or the stupidly precious ones about their child -

I had an emergency dental appointment and my brother and his wife took the afternoon off work to look after my son and they let him watch a Bugs Bunny cartoon and gave him a finger of fudge, shall I go no contact with them?'

Or the hideous relationship/marriage ones -

'My DH/DB (🙄) who is the most amazing dad and I love him ever so much has fucked the dog and hit me over the head with a tyre iron because I gave him a boiled egg instead of a poached egg for tea and now he wants to have a threesome with my mother, shall I forgive him?'

Relationship ones mainly. I’m always amazed by the camaraderie of women supporting one another and the power this has to change someone’s life. I don’t like to think of people being alone in their struggles.

I also love to watch all the crass bragging about how “middle class” certain people feel they are. It makes my bum cheeks clench but it’s an eye opening read, as are the comments on posts which are completely devoid of empathy for others.

Also, always surprised by the disproportionate reactions from posters, e.g. LTB when husbsnd has been at golf too long.

BorisKilledMyHusband · 16/02/2025 17:48

I am quite partial to a restaurant bill split dilemma.

cherrybluerazz · 16/02/2025 17:51

I like ones with Photos of other People houses! 🤭

ViciousCurrentBun · 16/02/2025 17:54

Seemingly trivial stand offs, there was one about a shampoo bottle left in the bath once plus a bin left with no liner in the middle of the kitchen. Seems petty but it’s really a power struggle on a Godzilla like level.

I also find some of the relationship ones fascinating especially when they have no idea what the issue really is but it’s obvious. I’m not talking about the sad and serious ones. Just the utterly delusional ones. I also like when an OW dares to post.

ashamedtramp · 16/02/2025 17:56

it fascinates me the whole 'all men a pigs' and all 'MIL's are evil ones'.

murasaki · 16/02/2025 17:56

When someone lays out what is a dangerous relationship and with support and encouragement gets out. And later reports back on how it's going and seems happier.

And a parking thread, obviously. And threads that give me dinner ideas.

ViciousCurrentBun · 16/02/2025 17:56

There was one about a cat trapped in a Neighbours house last year, poster may have pushed prawns through the letterbox or did that just materialise in my head ?

Flossflower · 16/02/2025 17:57

Parking ones are always interesting. I quite like the washing ones. I also like ideas for dinners.
Since being on Mumsnet, I have been struck by 2 things: firstly how badly some people’s partners or spouses treat them and they stay with them, secondly is how difficult life is for some people, especially parents of disabled or SEND children. My heart goes out to them.

The thread was one big lie

NewHeaven · 16/02/2025 18:02

Car parking threads are always a joy. There's currently one on aibu about a car that's blocked the op's car in as she lives round the corner from Anfield Stadium. Everyone is highly invested in the thread.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 16/02/2025 18:03

I like the ones where people get genuinely furious over trivial shit other people do that doesn't affect them at all, or where a couple of posters really get into it on a thread.
Like, name calling thread derailing batcrap crazy shit.

I sit there clicking refresh and sniggering like a crazy person with nothing better to do.

I know. I'm a bad person. Blush

CulturalNomad · 16/02/2025 18:03

I especially appreciate the generosity of the women who share their stories on the threads where a woman is waiting on a possible breast cancer (any cancer, really) diagnosis.

There's a lot of bollocks on Mumsnet but those types of threads strike me as genuine and really highlight the strength and generosity of women.

OverthinkingOlive · 16/02/2025 18:03

I've been my partner for two weeks. He's lied about his age, name, income, job and family. He's cheated on me twice, stood me up four times and publicly ridicules me every time we see each other. Am I just wasting my time here?

Beaverbridge · 16/02/2025 18:04

I love car parking ones with diagrams. There was one a while back people went and left car after being warned not to, can’t remember how it ended!

CandyCane457 · 16/02/2025 18:05

I love the crazy MIL and CF stories the most!

Ill never forget the MIL who posted around August last year saying how upset she was that her son and DIL were hosting a Halloween party for their friends and she wasn’t invited, but wondered if she should turn up anyway. Despite countless posters telling her that was a terrible idea, she seemed hell bent on doing it. I’d love to know what happened in the end!

AsLivingArrows · 16/02/2025 18:06

I love getting stuck in on a shoes on/shoes off thread. They're always super contentious because it's about fifty fifty who prefers what. People are super passionate about their particular preference, which leads to very entertaining debates.

And it's shoes ON! Clean your floor! 😄

ReadingSoManyThreads · 16/02/2025 18:08

Them all. I LOVE THEM ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 16/02/2025 18:08

Education ones - people being unreasonable about schools. I can't help but get drawn into those (teacher)! Threads about arsehole husbands.

Not remotely interested in bridezilla ones or parking ones. Or finance ones unless they are part of an arsehole husband thread.

wotsitallfor · 16/02/2025 18:08

Secret rooms being uncovered are absolutely legend, remember a few.

There have been some amazing CF threads.

I love the Christmas fridge thread and anytime there's an engagement ring thread.

Hoppingabout · 16/02/2025 18:10

Parking rows
Restaurant bill splitting
Unreasonable holiday behaviour
Neighbour disputes

I really am that petty.

notatinydancer · 16/02/2025 18:11

I like the ones where the wife finds her anger at a cheating or abusive husband.

Obviously I don't enjoy their pain but I like seeing them be strong and not put up with crap from men.
