What sagas do you enjoy on MN?

Do you enjoy a bridezilla drama, cheeky fuckers bumming free lifts? MIL thinks she's the mum of new baby not grandmum, what about the my mum treats my (infertile) sister's dog better than she treats my human child threads. Or how about the ones where a poster takes care of someone's else's kid and feeds them McD's, the mum then throws a hissy because her kid should have been fed quail eggs and smoked salmon!

I personally enjoy the car parking wars, especially when there's a diagram.

I know it's probably not very kind hearted but I kind of love an AIBU where they really are and everyone tells then! Especially if it's something really minor. Or if it's a "the teacher looked a bit funny at my child should I call ofsted?" one as I'm a teacher and we have to put up with a lot.

Excuse Me Wow GIF by Mashable

The OP was having work done at home and the tradesman was shagging his fancy piece in her garage at the bottom of the garden. She caught it on the Ring doorbell. It went on for days and on the last day I think the fancy piece brought her own blanket to use for said shagging. I was enthralled by the whole thing.

Oh, and I love the ones where the poster is going on holiday with a group and there's a drama about how to split the rooms in a holiday home and who should pay what!

Snowmanscarf · 16/02/2025 18:45

I live bc a good cf one (although I suspect alit are made up)

Also I like it when there’s a successful resolution, especially over active period, such as the sofa small claims court one.

dapsnotplimsolls · 16/02/2025 18:45

Live parking threads, CF threads, the ones that go on for so long that posters cast the musical and suggest song titles.

Moveoverdarlin · 16/02/2025 18:45

The recent (December just gone) thread about the most outrageous Christmas Parties was brilliant. I was genuinely howling laughing. Fucking outrageous tales on there. Some truly horrific tales, but some so funny. The two that stick in my mind was the girl who noticed all the guys had vanished from the pub where the party was being held. She mentioned it to the only other woman at the do and she said ‘they are all probably in the car park’. She went outside and every bloke from the company was lined up against a wall and the barmaid was giving them all blow jobs.

Another woman who was the company accountant was pissed and did a roly-poly at the firms Christmas Do but had no knickers on.

1.Parking ones where the OP goes scorched earth.

  1. When the OP actually leaves their awful DP/DH after putting up with so much shit from them, due to seeing the light from MN.
Tortielady · 16/02/2025 18:48

For sheer entertainment, CF threads. What some people think they can get away with is a never-ending source of fascination for me. "My best friend borrowed my Lamborghini, my Jimmy Choos and my husband. She wrote the first two off while bonking the third and now they think I should pay for their love child to go to Harvard, AIBU to tell them no?"

For something more elevating, I like the threads about educational issues. I'm a mature student and find anything to do with education at any level is interesting. Reading threads by people whose children have SEN gives me some insight into lives that aren't like mine.

Dosomethingusefulnow · 16/02/2025 18:50

I like the ones where people are just so odd it makes me feel so normal 😂 and the inheritance ones where the op clearly wants the money but tries to appear like they don't.

AsLivingArrows · 16/02/2025 18:50

Redhairandhottubs · 16/02/2025 18:37

I get invested in the ones in December where the DH goes on his Christmas Do and stops answering his phone. I have to watch them or comment so I can make sure he gets home safely (they always do!)

Also the ones about staying ILs and getting tiny portions of food. No idea why I enjoy these so much!

And (quite bizarrely!) I love the boarding school/ probate school threads that I really have no business being on. Find them fascinating!

The DH hasn't come home ones are quite addictive. I keep checking to see if he's back yet and what state he's in.

5128gap · 16/02/2025 18:51

I'm irresistibly drawn to the made up scenarios featuring vegans who force everyone else to eat lentils and dust at a resturant serving only UPFs. Also the faux innocent "Can anyone tell me why women have botox to look like duck aliens? Is it a trend...?" Throw in a "Has anyone noticed how much BIGGER a size 10 is these days?" and I'll be happy all week.

I have a true story that is reminiscent of this and it's not made up at all Grin

Moveoverdarlin · 16/02/2025 18:53

Another CF one I really enjoyed really was the Dyson Airwrap one. Unbelievable CFuckery. The lovely OP honestly thought her friend had lost it but all the cynical Mumsnetters instantly said she’s nicked it. And they were right.

Bridezilla ones are always value for money.

Hell yes. I get the popcorn out for these 😂

Ooh you're just teasing me with that now...!

Oh I'm also fond of the 'how often should I wash my bedding?' type ones which pop up every couple of weeks, where people are astonished at each others washing and housework routines.

Yes. Love those. “I change my sheets every six months. Are others the same?” Er, no. People posting chaotic kitchens. Tidy up!!!

NewHeaven · 16/02/2025 19:04

There was one last Christmas where the OP's sil wanted everyone's gifts after they opened them on Christmas morning. Plus, the sil wanted to take all the leftovers home & would chide people for taking too many toasties. Everybody got really invested in the thread and then a few days before Christmas the op disappeared after promising us all an update.

Does anybody remember that one?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 16/02/2025 19:05

@5128gap

Basically, I was dragged round a city for lunch on a cold winter's day because nowhere was good enough not enough options, too pricey, I don't want falafel again
and I went along with it because they were vegan

A few weeks later we met up for Christmas and Goat's Cheese was ordered because they "felt like it today and it's Christmas" I didn't say anything but Christ I was seething.

Yes ! The OP never came back and updated!

Haha. Thank you! No arguing with that being annoying.

I was really invested in that one, kept refreshing my page over Christmas to see if she updated. That did my head in.

Oh yes! So frustrating that we never got an update!

RunAwayTurnAwayRunAwayTurnAway · 16/02/2025 19:09

During the first lockdown a woman posted that she had found an iPhone on her very isolated rural property.

The iPhone did not belong to anyone who lived there. There were all sorts of theories about how it had got to the garden of the house that had a 1 mile drive way and nearest neighbours 1 mile in the other direction.

The police were involved.

There was never any update.

I think about it regularly.

LindorDoubleChoc · 16/02/2025 19:12

None of them. I don't have the patience or level of investment to get involved in serial threads that are most likely fiction anyway. God knows my life is hardly scintillating, but I don't have the time either.

Why do you ask OP?

CeliaCanth · 16/02/2025 19:14

I love a CF thread - like many of us it seems!

Also bad relationships with SILs or other rellies where the SIL (etc) has a complete tantrum over something like getting the “wrong” Gucci handbag for Christmas or has simply refused to speak to the poster for years.

Plus the PIL visits where you’re given a lettuce leaf and half a hard-boiled egg to sustain you for the entire day and the house is freezing, wake-up time is 6.30 am and all women are expected to wait on the males throughout.
